Its true.. I work in the finance department for a talent agency and the modeling agency....our client receives what left after all these people get paid plus we take our commission...its even less if the taxes were deducted by the payroll houses the industry uses......but remember the agents, managers, lawyers receive the 5% to 15 % off the gross...she is speaking the truth...so when you think the actors are making. .$$$...its a lots less than you think...I see the payments..and all the deductions that she is talking about...

Epic convo! Add in travel hotels and pay for full bands and production, sound and engineers for musicians. You’re so right and this subject is SO BIG yet SO HIDDEN. Social media tells a tiny piece. This is refreshing.

Taraji's situation is not new. Until folks start talking about salaries and rallying around each other it will continue. She also has a hair product line. I cannot use it personally because of the strong perfume scent but tried to it once to support her.

I had to stop using it because of the strong perfume scent. It was overwhelming which is a shame.

I moved to LA in the 90s as a teenager, alone, to be a "star". Landed an agent, manager, and started grinding. Only took me a few years to realize how SICK Hollyweird is and to leave. So when grown adults can't see that and stick around I just don't understand. That industry is disgusting. Leave it!!!!!

I thought that's why you negotiate before you engage with rep at whatever level.

Y’all just don’t get it! U comparing her to actors n actresses that literally have stared in blockbuster and franchise films…she has none! u know why she can quit Hollywood and never work again?…because she gets paid ALOT OF MONEY

You get what you negotiate family. Nothing more, nothing less. Color Purple went into production March 2022, that means contracts were papered by Dec 2021. She knew exactly what she was to be paid for this project over 2-years ago. The time for histrionics was during the negotiation with the studio back in Q4 2021. The truth is the studio had all the leverage. They were prepared to move on to the next actress if Taraji said "no". I think during negotiations she understood that, and realized that these studio roles don't come around all the time. I can't even remember the last time she was in a big tent pole. I think this is her first. Anyways, L stands for leverage boys and girls. The sooner you get out of your feelings, and get into the business world, the better (and wealthier) you will be.

Exactly. Taraji is still raw over her negotiations for the Benjamin Button role. She offered $500k. They countered with $150K. She took it!
