Never tought of making the curved section like this. Generally, i would make thin but full circles of wood, the glue them together. I find it easier to do it that way, but still, it turned out awesome

I would agree with you . This way is how they did it back in the old days. And I wanted to give it a try. Thanks for watching.

That's very nice. I wouldn't have thought to make the curved part in sections. Kind of like a stubby barrel.

The curved part was the hardest part I had to think about for a while. Especially the v-bit jig. Thanks for watching.

I have made two canteens for friends of mine who are medieval re-enactors. When I poured wax in them to waterproof them, I did not know to add a little mineral oil to the wax. Is this to make it easier to slosh around and cover all the interior surfaces, or some other reason? I ask because I am always looking for better ways to do things. Thankyou for posting this video.

I added the mineral oil so the wax flows easier. It is the same mixture I use for my wood balm. I am glad you found this video useful. Thanks for watching.

The grain of your staves runs the wrong way…. They should have been across and then steam bent to curve. But what you made was still cool.

Thanks for the tip. It was a fun project. I will have to try it that way if I build it again.
