Hey, kids! Hope you enjoyed the video💚
I have read your feedback on us using wrong pronoun for Antonio in the video. I would like to apologize for the lack of research on my end. The video we watched was the only video that I watched from her channel and did not learn how to address her gender properly. Agreed theres like 3 colours that i would consider for only dark sinned people and about 6 to 10 for others. However as someone who is irish white aka fair AF we cant find shit on our end either. Everything looks oompa loompa orange even the mineral veil finishing powder ffs. So i just gave up wearing makeup despite having horrid skin and just focused on skincare and only wear bb cream mixed with a white sunscreen for special occasions like legit weddings where itd be rude imo not to wear formal or at least some makeup. At least most dark skinned people can mix the different shades when your whiter than the ivory option you have to use facepaint type geisha makeup or white cast sunscreen

@@Utriedit215 I can't find my shade in either of those brands and I'm pale. I've got the lightest shade from Too Faced, Cloud, and it's way too pink while the one up from that, Swan, is too yellow. Estee Lauder and Mac don't even go that pale. The shades are either too pink, too yellow, too orange or too dark and you can't mix them to get the right undertone either since yellow and pink create orange. The makeup shade range is horrible for both ends of the colour spectrum because they only cater for those in the middle shade ranges who lean more warm or olive. I'm a pale olive and there is nothing in my colour.

    • @EmmaAppleBerry
      @EmmaAppleBerry Před 3 lety +19

@@Utriedit215 most of those brands either arent available at all in most places, if they are theyre extremely expensive & often in a very limited colour range so even IF their entire range was available itd be ridiculous and ive also tried a couple of the lightest shades i could buy in a department store which were expensive af for a small amount (this was in 2010 approx) i cant remember the specifics but it was all the major brands counters and as has been commented above by another fair friend the whitest shades arent light enough! And even if the lightness is close its often too pink or too yellow theirs rarely a blue cool cast or absolute white shade. As someone whos worked with a lot of paints as well guache oil acrylic different dyes and also house paint and knows colours shades and how to mix them like i was born doing it i can tell you right now its not hard to make a pure snow white colour or shades of that type versus a newborn baby pale pink or pale yellow type colour which is what the majority of the so called "ivory" foundations powders creams etc are. Even in asian where they are know for prizing white skin and they use the word white not me so dont get all "youre racist" bs on me and often have literal bleach or bleaching agents in their skincare which is dangerous af mind you i still cant find one! Like i mentioned in an earlier comment the closest ive come is sunscreen or stage like makeup (like geisha) to being even close and both or those arent true makeup they either fall in the paint category like face paint which isnt something that should exist on your skin and is meant for performance art or is basically moisturiser and not suppose to leave any residue white cast etc like sunscreen.
I mean i legit live in australia! I have far fewer options to begin with, most things dont ship here and if they do theyre 4 times the price as the US or the UK and idk if youve been here but were generally known as sunkissed (although most people are getting better at not welcoming skin cancer) so the irish white nordic white skin that most of us originally have is either sun damaged into oblivion or fake tan or recent years more people are spending time inside and being pale isnt like being a leper anymore just like wearing glasses being smart or liking "dorky" things isnt taboo. I will say the only person whiter than me has been natural redheads dudes mostly since girls are usually dying their hair and putting on fake tan instead of embracing it. And said dude was like moon white like so pure white that it was like crisp paper white whereas i have a bluish undertone. So yeah like unless your actually fair/white you cant exactly have an opinion saying you know theres white shades out there that would work for us. Imagine if i said "theres lots of dark options if all these brands (white not knowing your skin tone) and if you want more go to africa where they should cater to your skintone etc or buy a hard to find specific black owned brand or an expensive brand etc" that be bloody absurd because i dont know you i dont know the makeup you have available and i dont know if any of that makeup is actually your skin tone or even close let alone in your price range or available where you live. Like ive tried chalk eggshells rice flour lots of traditional way and tried to mix my own ive even looked into a spray air brushing type makeup gun so i could mix the ratio in the hopes there'd be enough shades of liquid "paint" that i be able to. When i say theres nothing available im not saying tell me your experience as a black woman seeing light shades. Im saying ive looked ive tried extensively im not asking for advice im just pointing out my experience on the other end of the scale and to also comfort any fair faced girls who have experienced the same as me and hell maybe needed a big sister type tip or maybe theyve found a holy grail product that actual works for their fair selves and can safely say i should try seek it out or at the very least look at the ingredients and see if theres a dupe or way to get my hands on it to try despite knowing it probability of actually finding one let alone getting one physically is nigh impossible. I mean theres a reason ehy i gave up makeup all together and just got skincare so i wouldnt need to wear it. Imagine being a white egg and people telling you the brown eggs shell will work for you and that its plenty light. Like thats the difference here. It doesnt matter if its available if its not my skin tone. Just like it doesnt matter if its available if its $200 for 25ml of product that doesnt even do samples, more recently i got recommended one and not only was it special order but only in south africa and the uk online and these was a couple years ago instead of a decade. And the images on peoples inner arm and on their faces that i managed to find didnt even seem to be the right colour. I mean ive found highlights/body gloss that are closest to my colour but i cant exactly wear that over my entire face ffs. I mean shimmery pearlescent over my entire face and nothing else wouldnt really solve the problem would it? Hence sunscreen being the closest thing i can get to white foundation. Which has the added bonus of making sure i dont get any skin damage which i wear daily anyway but also means if anything as with all peoples we humans lose our melanin as we age so ill just get whiter my skin thinner so if i cant find a good colour now (and ive checked the national ballet makeup artists -they use giesha like paint too vs makeup since apparently even they cant source pale girl makeup) then im certainly not going to be able to find my match as time goes on unless some irish or nordic chick invents a white base makeup you can mix white yellow blue or red to make your specific skin tone im shit outta luck as are mostly other irish and nordic ethnic women which i can tell you right now the majority are too light for the light shades of makeup brands sans maybe ones for the queen or i inagine other royalty who can afford custom or high end makeup that actually caters to women who dont want to tan or look tan. I mean have you seen princess mary of denmark!? Shes a typical fair beauty and even shes darker than me id wager the person who gave her dark hair likely gave her some colour and likely she has skin damage from her youth. But she grew up in australia and now shes a scandi princess/future queen her makeup is obviously flawless but i dont have a staff of people or a treasury and she actually comes back to australia and slends the day on the beach in the sun surfing and getting tanned. Like i wish you were right and that i could find light enough popular brands of makeup but its a waste to even bother looking at this point because its not like the lightest is a shade off or even close its about 5 shades off and the tone is wrong anyway. Like id have better luck grinding up dove feathers for a close colour match. I imagine the struggle is hard on the other end of the spectrum but id say in the western world the concept of mainstream beauty atm at least prefers darker than lighter theres at least hope especially with advocation that you guys will get greater ranges of shades and have so far and will continue to. I mean if i say more white pale fair whatever makeup im not gonna have a bunch of people advocating my rights am i. Or calling out companies for being biast against white people. I mean ill just look like a nazi and sound like a certain group who wear white hoods in america because if i say shit as a blonde white af blue eyed female thats the response. From mostly people who arent white assuming that me looking like i do everythings easy and perfect for me like read an irish history book maybe. Luck of the irish is a sarcastic saying for horrifically bad luck. Excuse me while i go put on the whitest moisturiser i could find that still doesnt work either and is essentially cold cream and also has been discontinued due to the pandemic and the company making hand sanitiser instead. Welcome to my life. You can bet your arse they didnt ditch any of the main stuff just the rare specialised sensitive type skin stuff that we cant get anywhere else but all the main stuff people can find anywhere and can use anything on their skin. Yay.

Things like darker (and more defined) brows, contour, and heavy complexion makeup, especially tend to make us look older. Winged liner or a slightly smokey eye can help, too! So, if you want to look older, try those out!
But if you're 17 and look 13, that's a good thing. You'll be quite happy about it, once you're a bit older. I'm 35, and people still ask what school I attend. 😅 I'm pretty sure they mean college, but that's still good, IMO. 👌🏻
Skincare is more important than makeup, though! Wear sunscreen every day! Even if you're indoors! Even if it's not sunny out. Just get into the routine. 80-90% of what we refer to as our skin "aging" is caused by sun damage. You can slow that significantly by applying sunscreen every day!
A lot of people don't start using an eye cream until their lids have already started crepeing, so I'd suggest getting on that at 18+. I'd also suggest you look out for ingredients like retinoids (not prescription retin-a until probably your 30s), niacinamide, chemical exfoliants (acids), and a really good all-over moisturiser with ceramides and hyaluronic acid or glycerin. Peptides are good for longterm, as well. And try out antioxidants like vitamin C, to test if they work for YOUR skin. Try those, and see what ingredients make a difference.
Chemical exfoliants, especially, are important, so you can stop manual exfoliation. It's often too harsh for our skin. Salicylic acid, for oily and / or acne-prone skin; lactic acid, glycolic acid, or whatever others, for drier skin types; or better yet, a mix of AHAs and BHA (usually referring to salicylic acid, though not entirely correct). It's better to start finding ingredients and formulations that work for YOUR skin, early, because it takes a minimum of 3 months to properly test skincare and notice any changes! Doing that earlier will save you a lot time, effort, and grief, down the road.
Good skin looks great at all ages! 😋
The only issues with looking too youthful are things like:
      1) Not being taken seriously at work.
      2) Not being able to forget your ID, ever.
      3) Not being able to date people your own age. 😳
Makeup and clothing can help with those!

Linguistically speaking, Korean does not have pronouns like English does so its extremely common for Korean natives to use both she and he interchangeably even when talking about the same person (even in the same sentence lol). That's somewhat tangential to the issue here, but I'd just like to caution jumping on a native Korean speaker for mixing up something that doesnt exist in their language. A simple explanation is usually enough, though since it's a really hard concept to learn in my experience it is unlikely to work permanently for some speakers if they dont subconsciously realize the difference between she and he in the first place (several of my friends are like this lol, calling me she and he totally interchangeably😂). In Korean gender manifests in kinship terms and other places like hoching but there is usually no required gendering of a person since gendered pronouns dont exist. You would use the persons name, title, or relation to you instead!

i felt that. i think it's way more common in Asian languages.Korean feels sikmilar to Urdu/Hindi & the other South Asian languages i'm aware of ,m plus Turkish, Arabic, Persian, where you don't expressly have a need for direct pronouns in most instances, because the verbs and prepositions will do all the work. American hs student here! most people do wear makeup, the second girl is pretty standard (our routines are actually very similar). glossier is a really popular brand! Also, a LOT of girls wear extra eyelashes, at least a few girls in every period have them. I do know people that wear big eyeshadow looks, but those take a lot of time so most girls will save those for things like the last day before break, school events or their birthdays. you're right that we don't contour to make our faces smaller, face/head size isn't really a beauty standard here. Most girls will contour to make their cheekbones stand out more :) big brows were a trend a few years ago but it's since fallen out of fashion for natural-looking brows.

I hate the pressure to wear makeup as a girl... I don’t want to wear makeup as I feel like its ruining people’s expectations of beauty and even in MIDDLE SCHOOL I would get somewhat shamed for not wearing makeup or going to get my eyebrows down. My eyebrows are ok by the way. Their is WAY too much pressure put on our appearances and for the wrong reasons. Especially the focus on being skinny rather than being healthy- people think they are just excused from eating healthily because they are skinny- but honey! That’s not how it works! I’m disappointed in society.

When I was in school, I barely wore any makeup because it was too much hassle in the morning! I definitely think young girls these days are pressured to look "perfect" at the expense of their free time and education. It's a shame how makeup companies target girls who are still growing and learning about themselves in order to exploit their insecurities for a buck. I don't think there's anything wrong with young girls wearing makeup on their own time as a form of expression, but you have to wonder why they feel the need to do so much just to go out in public when they already look perfect the way they are; it makes me sad that they need to apply makeup like an adult would in order to fit it. (sorry if my rant was a little too heavy, this is just something I've very passionate about!)

You'll get caught at the front of the school. There are proctors at the front gate of the school who check your outfit to make sure you're not wearing anything innappropriate/going against the school rules. Even if you go into the school without makeup, a lot of students (mostly girls) carry little makeup bags and wear makeup before and after class. Depending on the teacher and school regulations, teachers may confiscate the makeup and you can get in trouble for owning makeup. Rules are different for every school so it all really depends.

Like the new resources(which i think you're talking about technology?) arent necessary an advantage because we're so depended on it buts its constantly changing meaning that we have to constantly adjust to it. Also colleges are way more competitive so kids have to join programs like AP, IP, and college clases all of which are hard and no kid leaving middle school is ready for these programs. Finally to add unlike the past more POC can graduate and get into college so families really pressure their children to be the first in the family to go into college. Every generation had their struggles but its true that education alone has gotten harder these past years as higher levels of education are now taught
