Comments asking for a summary: The argument is, it doesn't matter what your positive or negative views of technology in a classroom is. Our students inhabit a digital world as a matter of fact, thus it is a moral imperative that teachers adopt technology because we are responsible for shaping how our children act and interact in their native environment.

Technology is just like a double-edged sword. We can neither stop the technology from developing nor stop students from exposing it. In this case, it is our responsibility to understand the technology so that we can teach the younger generation how to use it in a proper way.

Comments for Sadie Martin's Playlist for ED505:
None of the videos were too long, so the students can remain engaged. The videos had clear definitions that they may not be familiar with. The videos are relevant to students, especially cyberbullying. They teach students to respect others who think differently than themselves.Your videos on safety are very important for our students because they really don't understand how dangerous the internet can be. The way you have the videos organized flows well.

Very interesting video. I totally agree with Scott, this is a question for which there isn't just one right answer. Technology in the classroom does have its pros and cons. Scott can obviously speak from experience which means you can't do much but believe him. He gives many good examples that show that the question will remain unanswered for quite some time but you still feel that you have learned something from this video.

This session was great. It really gives direct and clear information about the advantages and disadvantages with the use of technology. It is a great topic since we are on the pandemic. Since we are now using online platform as our classroom, it helps me as a student to be responsible.

Technology in Education is very tricky and a hard topic to work with. There are many factors both positive and negative ways we can look at it and how we handle it. As long as we do it right and well, we should be able to a positive outlook and way to handle technology in Education.

This is crazy to look back on post-covid. Students HAD to become tech savvy alongside their teachers during shutdowns. It goes to show being prepared and know how to utilize technology helps you. Knowing how to be a better learner, open to mutiple methods of learning, thats what leads you to being a more successful learner. Tools are tools, stick with me through this hypothetical - think of something like a dishwasher. You can wash dishes by hand, the old fashion way. True tried and tested method, very successful. But if you have so so so so so many dishes and no time to get around to washing them and youre on your own with no support whatsoever then a dishwasher can be a LIFESAVER (technology) BUT if you dont know how to properly use a dishwasher, then its completly useless to you. And knowing how to use it effectively (like rinsing you dishes BEFORE putting them in the dishwasher makes sure sauces or grease wont stick to your dishes, something a dishwasher cant really replicate compared to handscrubbing a dish) is the best way to get the most out of using a dishwasher. Technology isn't always the most useful or effective tool, but man can it do wonders in a lot of ways. The USER deteremines technologies value, not technology itself. I think thats where the debate gets lost, it prioritizes the debate over technology on its own and removes the human users impact over how effective it truly is. Some people can't use technology for education because as mentioned it can be distracting, so they need to know how to not be distracted entirely and possibly decide that other (more traditional) forms of research is just what works for them. I don't think its possible to have a one sized fits all answer, taking away technology from those who succeed better with it is not fair, but letting others who struggle to use technology and are too distracted from it fall behind is also not fair. It needs to be done by the person.

Let's look at it this way. there are a lot of double edge sword in life that are both useful and dangerous. for example, fire can be used to heat homes and cook food, but people, objects, and homes can be burned. So, there's a choice. We can either stop using fire altogether, or learn how to use it safely.

Technology, just like all the tools and a students tool belt, has its advantages and disadvantages, time and place. we shouldn't go about education is if technology doesn't exist, but on the other hand, there are some things that technology cannot replace, like books, pencils, paper, blackboards, and most importantly, teachers.
