NOW THIS!....Is what a nods comparo/review should look like. One can easily determine what performance/price level you'll be satisfied with. Would love to see this format used to compare the new 'supergain' tubes to other top and mid-tier performance tubes to see if they're worth the stretch.
Subscribe button hit.
Thanks for the support!
@@coldharboursupply are these eligible for sales outside the united states?
Love the tech/feature breakdown in a digestible and quick format. Well done!
Also definitely getting these for my first set from you guys, thanks to the video.
The video the world needed.
Very in depth. A lot of work went into this, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
More than anything this video made me reconsider the importance of White Phosphor.
Appreciate the info gents.
Same here. I don't have access to different units to compare so this really did a great job showing the difference.
It is a great video that objectively compares and explains using actual visible images, unlike the typical videos of this type that show the appearance of NVG and ramble on and on about subjective opinions.
This is an amazing video. I learned things i didn't know I needed to know!
Got mine hours before you released the video. I am satisfied, for sure. Compared to my L3 tubes, its a big difference. However, the price was less than half my L3 set.
How does it go so far? Is it a good purchase?
@@harizdean3448Yeah but not with shitty NVT-4 tubes. The NVT-5 tubes are just 20% behind the L3 tubes. Or even a little less worse.
Its just 3 k
Do you know how to tighten the articulation? Mine articulate just fine but its doesnt feel as stiff as I think it should be.
I got a set and I love them. Obviously they arent as good as Gen 3 but for the price its worth it. The lenses are 25mm vice the 30mm from the 1431 models so as of now I havent been able to find a way to attach adjustable iris lenses but im sure accessories will come out eventually since these are becoming more popular. @@harizdean3448
@@harizdean3448 it's decent. I don't think it's for a high end user by any means, but for casuals or airsofters I think it is more than reasonable. I did an NVG shoot with them and wasn't at a detriment compared to my L3 31s. They will suffer more in low light, though
Great overview, wonderfully presented. Thank you!
I am sold. Not looking to spend too much and this is IT
I will deffenatly buy a pair of these when I got the money! Great video bro
Outstanding review! Thank you...
Great video and even better company,i bought a helmet from them in person a few months back.
great work, subscribed.
Awesome video. Now id love to see them compared to l3 and elbit. Just to see. Clearly they will not be competing but it would be cool to see
I wish other companies would get on board with a simple analog gain knob like this as a standard feature (looking at you Nocturn with your silly digital push buttons....).
Very informative not like others I see thanks
Excellent video!
Great review dude! Thank you.
Great test , thanks 😄👍✨
Very good video and Im am buying one !
So I’ve been looking for another set of Binos to either replace or use them alongside my 1431s. I have elbit wp xlsh tubes that are well matched, decent specs like 28 snr, 2000 fom, .9 ebi, and 1.0 halo. Being that they are pretty high specs for xlsh tubes, they each have 2-3 small blems. Likely the reason they got knocked down to xlsh’s. Even with decent specs, I feel like they leave some performance to be desired. I’ve used them in the darkest of nights in thick woods and even been in a subterranean environment where pretty much all types of I2 nvgs will struggle or just be ineffective to the point you need to either use your peq the entire time, or switch to thermal. I’ve got about 8 ish years experience using different types of monoculars, Binos, and thermals. I think the specs of these jerry 31s will leave a lot to be desired for people who intend to use their NVGs professionally. You usually don’t have the luxury of utilizing a supplementary light source. With the low specs, and lack of auto-gating, poor lowlight performance I think they are not a good choice for the population of people who are looking for binos for professional or duty use. Obviously you have to find a good balance of cost and performance that will suit your needs. I definitely see a ton of applications where users of these binos will be more than satisfied with the performance and their ownership experience will be superb. It’s still very exciting that companies are making nvgs more and more affordable, particularly WP, articulating duals because that’s what all the cool kids want. Thank you for the great comparison video and all the information!
It’s sometimes SO difficult to compare the quality of tubes through CZcams videos. This video does a pretty well job doing that, so thank you for that.
Now I just need to decide if I want to sell my high spec Echo PVS-14 and grab these or just wait for another matching PVS-14 to bridge. While these look promising for cheap duals, I’m afraid I’ll be disappointed going from a 32SNR/78RES Echo to these…
same, just not sure if i'll be disappointed going from high quality stuff to these.
Dude literally same
Do you consider binos worth it?
Two 14s bridged is a heavy setup, it's what I'm running currently but I often loan one tube to a friend so we can both see, something you can't do with these. If you don't want to share this is a lighter setup for sure
@turdferguson2863 thats definitely something people overlook, the 14s are so easy to through in a pack or pocket when your not using or dont need it on your helmet
Quality content... Subed...!
love your videos and thank you for the knowledge transfer!
great overview dude!
currently running a 14 and looking into duel tubes.
Keep hearing about these and this gave me some great things to consider!
What has you wanting dual tubes over single tube? I hear there’s just a learning curve to get used to single tube but eventually you’d with experience you’ll be on par with how naturally dual tubes feel
@@scoobarsteve7948 Can't speak for OC, but as a guy who has used a monocular extensively and moved to dual tubes; yes, with time, you can get very proficient with a monocular but there were still many occasions where I would be looking just a few feet in front of me and not able to tell if I'm looking at a one foot drop off or a six foot cliff. This is where dual tubes shine. The difference in depth perception makes a world of difference and I've found I can move much quicker over rougher terrain with confidence using binos.
Very informative video! That housing would be very interesting with Photonis tubes.
I know you said there were some size differences in the housing. Could the tubes be upgraded to L3 or Elbit if the user wanted to eventually? Thanks in advance!
This is so exciting
17:10 Jerry actually sees BETTER into the dark areas at the top of the tower. Seems to be a compromise of blowing out the highlights or the dark shadows across the 3 examples.
Subbed for when I’m not poor lol thanks for the info I’m a fan of these and seriously considering like I said when I’m not poor
Just following the rest here…. AMAZING REVIEW!!🤙🏻 Really good description of the different features and “misunderstandings” that are out there.
My team of 5 members are looking for changing NVG and thanks to this, we are going with Jerry-31😎 We love the reviews and your shop ❤
Keep up the good work @coldharboursupply
Best pvs14 I’ve ever seen… all the ones I’ve used in better off with no nvd
This is really appealing. The price point is similar to the tanto pvs14s with a bridge that I was looking at.
They are very different products with different use considerations, send us an email or shoot us a call if you ever have any questions!
budget? pvs 14 which does everything and more is 2k cheaper
@@cagneybillingsley2165 pvs14s bridged is super heavy. I'm looking at doing the tanto housings and bridging them or these
@@cagneybillingsley2165 Depends on where you are from and what features you need. We carry a variety of devices for many users.
Are the Jerry 31s considered gen2+? Also do you know if there are any plans to use autogate tubes for them in the future? I think having them for 3500 ish with gen3 autogating would arguably sell better if you can undercut pricing on duals like tantos etc
These are Gen2+ technically. And we are in Canada so the availability of tubes is different from those in the USA.
I know that you have covered that the photonis GP is brighter than the photonis wp. Is this the same for the Jerry 31?
Great comparison any chance of doing a nnvt vs mid tier gen 3? I have a Elbit pvs14 but definitely considering the switch for duals as opposed to a single monocular for very similar price.
Hard to justify double the price for gent 3 duals unless the difference is staggering.
Hit up a US dealer who has access to both :)
No gen 3 in Canada? Didn’t know that
@@Kaotix_music Harder is German and offers high spec gen 3 semiconductor tubes. There are also Katod and NNVT offering gen 3.
Hey brother great video and information! Looking for more info on the external battery. My connector for the pvs-31 type 5pin external battery doesn’t work with the Jerry 31. Do you know a cable that will allow me to keep my current battery pack and attach to the j31?
You need to get the Jerry31 specific battery pack or make an adapter cable. It's as 7-pin LEMO with different pin-outs. If the Jerry31 sees wider adoption, we'll invest some time into developing an ecosystem for it.
Great comparison if I say so myself ;)
Great review and especially great comparison between different tubes.
Would be great if you could make a video in the future comparing the different NNVT tubes that are available.
I have found NVT 4 and 5 tubes with and without autogating, with and without manual gain. And apparently there are NVT 7 tubes (no idea what the specs of those are)
Basically:
NVT4 1400-1600fom
NVT5 1600-1800fom
NVT6 1800-2000fom
NVT7 also same fom as NVT6 but different internal and coating improved
Does it ship to the states now? I know they didn’t a lil while ago
If I buy these from cold harbor and can later source NNVT 5 autogated tubes would you be able to install them?
You theoretically could, though to be honest the difference in actual performance would be marginal. If one decides to upgrade it's much better to get a unit with stronger lens performance versus the tubes in this case.
wau thx a lot for this content. Very informative and not only regarding Jerry 31 Binoculars but also about tubes and their features. Auto-gate vs BSP is kind of info you can't get anywhere else. I'm currently interested into buying NNVT equipped pvs14 and I'm very thankful for every bit of details you provide to us.
If I got it right, BSP helps to protect tubes in a different way than auto-gating with impact on resolution. Is there any advantage compare to auto-gating ?
BSP lowers the voltage of the Photocathode, whereas Autogating pulses the power supply. In a very layman's terms, autogating preserves more resolution than BSP and is used on a lot of modern nods. All modern tubes will have BSP, not all will have autogating, Photonis tubes and NNVTs-AG will have both AG and BSP whereas the NNVTs that are not autogated will have BSP. The autogated tubes will use a combo of BSP and Autogating to protect the tube versus only BSP for the NNVT-4s.
BSP alone protects the tube plenty with a higher impact to resolution than the BSP/AG combos of the other 2 types of tube. The main disadvantage to BSP is the dropping of resolution. However, in some cases this is less visually distracting because the tube does not have to pulse as can been seen in our flaring test, this depends on the frequency and intensity of the lights you are exposing the tubes to. NNVT's are also known for their impressive BSP.
I would not base my tube selection on this feature alone. Hope that helps.
@@coldharboursupplyI love this answer, you are the best ! Now I know where to ask these technical questions, and I'm looking forward for upcoming content, especially NNVT related. Hopefully I can get mine own soon, but I want to understand all the details before purchase.
We have a detailed comparison of NNVTs and Photonis tubes here. Have a look!

@@coldharboursupply excelent video,i saw it maybe 5 times already 😀. Autogating looks like must have feature to me. One more question regarding NNVTs - are nnvt5 newer production than 4? In that case are there nnvt5 with autogate? Do they both allow manual gain control? What are the differwnce between nnvt4 and 5? Any significant difference if we have tubes with similar spec?.it's hard to find relevant information about nnvt production
@@PSYchoSVKNVT-4 is Photonis XD-4 and NVT-5 is Photonis XR-5.
NVT-5 can have a way higher FOM.
Am I able to adjust the articulation stiffness? Got mine a month ago, love them. Only issue is I want the articulation more stiff. When they are articulated up if I do a fast head nod down they do come down a bit. Wanted to confirm before I started messing around with the screw.
The inner screws on the rear of the bridge can adjust a bit, but be careful not to over-torque them.
Thanks for the getting back to me so quick!@@coldharboursupply
This vid got me bricked, I’m def getting a pair
I have a pvs 14. Elbit tube 2300 fom white phosphor. I understand these are gen 2 compared to my gen 3 but really how big of a difference is it? Would I be disappointed? Also how hard is it to sell a pvs 14?
What would you sell it for? I'm looking to buy one.
Can these be bought in a single tube configuration? I only have one good eye (light buld explosion)and don't need 2 tubes
Yep. In the video we go over the Jerry-14, which we will drop a review on soon as well.
do they run 16mm or 18mm tubes? I assume infiray is running NNVT tubes? For the price point with manual gain... thats a killer deal.
18mm NNVT4s
Please review the NVLS panos
what are the 2 holes to either side of the power button? Are they IR and if so do they emit constant light like old school nods?
Watch the video to find out!
they look cool. I got a pvs14 and dtnvg but they look nicer then my dtnvg esp since a big giant spec was formed even tho I didn't even use the bloody thing, it was in my backpack inside my truck in the garage
any word on the jerry 31 battery pack?
Do you ship from Canada to USA?
Do you all ship to the US??
I'm thinking these are my first set.
Hey! I got mine some time ago and the performance is amazing. I was wondering, would it be possible to install Carson lenses in the j-31? Thanks a lot, great great review!
Not currently possible as the threads are a radically different size.
@@coldharboursupply ouch... That was my guess. Anyway, maybe in the future someone creates an adapter or something. Thanks for the response! Keep it up with the content :)
Can the tubes on this device be upgraded in the future?
Great intro price for binos. Do they have any intention of knocking this out as a monocular?
Take a look at the Jerry-14 on our website
@coldharboursupply thanks. I is smart. I was looking right at that page the other week. Have a great start to the day, neighbour.
When you see that the price is 4k, dont think that you need cheaper gear. What you need is a higher paying job.
does green tint of the fuji lenses somehow improve the quality or would it be the same quality with white phosphor?
If one were to use different rear lenses that would cut down on the chromatic aberration yes.
@@coldharboursupply so green is superior to white phosphor?
@@IslamsBomb That's what some people say in regards to the chromatic aberration but the difference in performance will mostly come down to preference.
So this isn't compatible with the CHAD/Polycarb lens protectors found on the sight yet?
Not yet, we are developing accessories for it, so the ecosystem will mature for the Jerry-nods.
Here in the uk, nvgs are way more expensive than in the US. But these are decently affordable, I've just seen them for £3100 ($3900!), or the monotube version is £2100.
I've currently got a gen 1 pulsar, that is basically useless without a ir torch. With the torch, I can see out to 300m plus relatively clearly.
The other gen 2 devices I've seen was a monotube with FOM ranging from 800-1200 for £1700.
Or another gen 2 monotube with FOM at 1250-1600 for £3000+.
A gen 3 monotube seems to be minimum £4k-£5k
So trying to decide what gen 2 to get as that's probably about as much as i can afford for the time being. The monotube version of these is very tempting, but then if I bought the dual it's almost like getting the second tube half price😅.
The prices in the video are Canadian dollars. So less in USD.
@@mouthbreather280 i must not have heard him say how much they were in the video, I was just comparing the prices stuff is in the uk
@@mouthbreather280 and hoping for some suggestions as to which one to go for, in terms of value for performance.
I have these in the UK bought from the guy you’ve been looking at, I can tell by the price. And I say 100% worth it. They are amazing. Compared them to Argus 1431s with photonis echos and there was basically no difference in real world use.

Are the Jerry 31 digital or do they use image intensifiers?
Analog
Yo, can they handle the “beat”? Also, average battery lifetime ? Just wondering if the price point is marketing or parts quality p. Thanks
That price is really amazing, I just need another 1700$
You can and will have them it won't be Roddy but the day will come when you do 😊 nods are worth it cool and a super power but buy them and use them I know guys whom have all the gucci gear and don't do ahit with them :/
What's the difference between the 31 and the 14?
Big diff will be one is a binocular, and one is a monocular. They are otherwise very similar, same range of tubes, same glass, very similar user interface.
Can only hope i can get a budget job to pay for this budget item
The ocular lens of the Jerry should not be used with WP. It is obviously meant for GP which has a mainly monochromatic spectrum which will avoid chromatic aberration. The WP result looks like a deal breaker.
White phosphorous is monochrome. Also, the lens has nothing to do with the color output of the image intensifier. You're staring at a sheet of phosphorous, with no practical, optical connection to the front lens. Essentially inverted shadow-puppets. The color of the wall you cast shadow-puppets on has nothing to do with chromatic aberration. If there's artifacts from the lens, it will show up long before any phosphorous picks it up and converts it to monochrome.
My only experience is issued PVS-14s, so If this is a different technology, or I'm missing something, let me know. I just think you might be confused.
@@Ranstone please start by finding some good videos about color and spectra
@@Ranstone White phosphorus would be a very bad thing to have, but it's a phosphor screen. White phosphor is not fully monochromatic. Otherwise it would always look pure blue or pure green.
lol saw Budget Night Vision to find out its 4k-6k dollar depending where you buy
still cool rig though
Any chance you guys are gonna make CHADs for this?
We are looking at making a full suite of accessories for this as the product line matures. So keep your eyes out!
Does anyone sell these in GP?
Have you had a look at the green phos Jerry 31s? I've seen anecdotal claims that the green seems to have better clarity and less chromatic aberration than the white phos. Wondering if you could shed any light on this?

gen 3 tubes when?
when i buy nod it will be these
thats not bad.
ngl, kinda wish they offered just the housings and lenses for these so i can drop my Omni 8 tubes in them.
Never say never, we are looking into options.
Just buy the housing. Where is the problem? But they only accept Photonis tubes.
@@aesthetic8780 That's incorrect. Photonis makes intensifiers to the same sizing standard as all 18mm MX-10160 that L3 and Elbit use. Any housing that "fits Photonis tubes" should also fit L3, Elbit, Katod, etc intensifiers.
@@coldharboursupply Obviously. But this is not what I meant. As I know you can only throw photonis/nnvt tubes in it. L3 dont fit without modifying the housing.
L3 has different placed connectors on their tubes!
@@coldharboursupply The Jerry-FB (same housing just with thermal detector) works the same way. You can't just throw L3 Tubes in it. You have to modify the housing heavily.
Would you rather use the jerry dual tubes or a nicer monocular?
I think getting a nice modular monocular thats Gen 3 and filmless would be better. And also that way down the line if you want binos you can just purchase another of that tube with similar specs and bridge them and get them culminated. But at the same time the Jerry 31's can be purchased as well as a C5 Clip On Thermal Imager for about $8k. That's very cheap for duals that have a thermal overlay, only catch is the tubes are 90's tech and lack anywhere from 500-800 FOM compared to Gen 3. That's also not even considering the increased clarity with Gen 3.
Can you upgrade the Jerry's? Better glass and tubes for the future
Glass no as they are proprietary. Tubes technically yes, but you are going to see larger upgrades going into a different housing with PVS-14 glass. The Jerry series is more intended as a "foot in the door" option for new NOD users.
i know you intend to make accessories for the Jerry-31 if they become more popular but if possible, id love to see better quality glass replacements with a 30mm objective lens that can fit in the jerry-31's. this would allow us to use iris and other accessories that can be used on the PVS-14 and the 1431's.
What gen night vision are these?
