I try and make an oil filter inspection video every Friday on this CZcams channel, Thank You!
Oh man, it’s Friday. That S filter is definitely a step up from the X.
Video good beautiful my friend good evening my friend 👍👍👍❤❤❤❤👋👋👋👋
Thank You!👍
@@WhipCityWrencher 👍👍👍👍
Pretty hard to beat the quality you get for the price range. I’m a fan of the metal cores with holes and the coil spring. Decent all around filters too bad they weren’t made in USA. Great video Whip.
Thank You!
Yep, USA-made would be better👍
The Eco Guard Synthetic looks exactly like the Microgard Select filter which is a very good filter.
Yea it does.
If price right, I'd use the S filter. Glue use could be better. Very similar to Premium Guard XL/Microgard Select. I take minor issue with it being called a "synthetic" filter. S media is not synthetic, a blended media at most. But, many filters now calling their filters synthetic, to mean intended for longer service intervals using synthetic oil. Thanks for vid.
You're Welcome faxmen09.
Thanks!👍
4th! YEA! More filter media, or a better micron rating (and microscope view). Hard decision to make.
I didn't realize they have been around since the 80's
Great video thanks for sharing! I'll run the blue cans without a sweat. I got a dozen of the x4612 for my Nissan's
Thanks, Dennis😊
This company is under the Premium Guard brand which is stated on PG's website. That excess glue is an extreme rarity for this brand but something I see on a regular basis for the other majors. That filter media is an obvious step up for the S and of course you don't have to "check" any louvers to see if they are open in year 2024. LOL
Thanks for the feedback👍

A great review as usual! 😊
Thank You👍
These Duke outs are the best!!!
Thanks! Glad you like them👍
👍
😊
Very good video ereview Pete😊, as always. TFS. Go 49ers! Enjoy the game and good food.
Thanks, Merri
🏈👍😊
The S looks alot like the Premium Guard syn filters
The S is slightly better than the X with the silicone instead of nitrile rubber. Both have my preference of oil springs. If these were the only two filters available on the shelf for my vehicle, I'd take the S. If they weren't the only choices, I'd probably look elsewhere.
I would too.😊
Nice video Pete, I wouldn't use either one😢
Why? Just out of interest
@user-sf7kl9uh7k I don't trust off brands. Where quality is always questionable in China or Mexico.
Thank You👍
The "S" is for sloppy. That's enough glue for two filters!
Indeed, kinda sloppy with the glue.
It would be interesting to see the size of the OEM filter. I’ve seen cars where if an aftermarket filter is slightly larger, it will hit something like a crossmember; or in the case of a Chevy Captiva, it would hit the AC lines
Hi Eric
Yep, some vehicles not much room where the filter goes.
The OEM oil filter for this vehicle is the ACDelco PF48 which is about 4 and a half inches long, about the same size as these Ecogards.
Same with the 2020 sentra longer filter would rest and push against lower coolant hose. There's no benefits in a longer filter anyways.
Great Job, Pete. I don't think I would just up and switch from My Carquest Blue/PureOne filters but they'd work in a pinch, especially the S filter. I can't figure out why they don't point the rough spots in the core holes inward, it wouldn't cost anything extra to do it. The guy working the line for that S filter must have been hung over that Monday Morning. Short of that they are made well and use good materials. I don't think I'd use either one for more than 5K though.
Thanks, Jim
Yep, a lot of glue on that filter.
@@WhipCityWrencher Heh, either that or he had a fight with his wife and took it out on the poor filter.
@@jamescaron6465 We've seen this rather rampant on Mann & Hummel filters as well (Purolator, wix, ...). The Asian import filters are usually cleaner, especially those made in china, Vietnam, and Korea.
@@jamescaron6465 Ha Ha😊
@@aaronatwood9298 But that one was made in China, yes?
Haven't been able to watch the videos as my mother had a stroke on Nov 30 and broke her hip when she fell. I have since been taking care of her and her sister with bad dementia. Too much going on.
Hi Jim
Sorry to hear the bad news, that's not an easy thing to do taking care of your mother and your aunt.
Hope things get better soon for you all. Take Care!
As old as the X is, it look in pretty good. The box atill looks new. Would you use a filter that was from 91?
It's stamped ( 1/18/16),
I think it was made on Jan. 18, 2016. And no I wouldn't use a filter that was made in 1991.Thanks👍
Both made from the finest Chinesesium metal available
😊
S for me
Hi sir, I have a question. What is best filter oil. Wix or Purolator Boss ?
I like and use the Purolator Boss on my vehicle. Thanks!👍
@@WhipCityWrencher thanks 👍🏼
Seems like made in china products are a gamble ! The S filter is better but dang that sloppy glue ! Maybe try a better filter even if it costs a couple $'s more ! 🍺
Amazing amount of mediochre filters out there.
It's mindboggling to me why anyone would use anything except a fram endurance / amsoil (same thing) considering it's just a $15 item.
*Promo SM* 🌟
I'm not promoting these Chinese-made oil filters at all, I wouldn't buy either one of them. I simply state that if I had to pick between the two I would go with the S2222.
I definitely stay away from Chinese stuff, unless unavoidable!!!
Shame on the S filter with all that glue. Did u notice, plastic covers on both, BUT, no lubricant on gaskets. 🤔👍
Usually, the only ones I see that have any lubricant on the gaskets are the ORing-style gaskets. I just put some oil on the gasket when installing.
Great content. Just not a Chinese product fan of anything made to China....
👍Me Too!
