  • Which ladder standoff do I think is best for use on a shingled roof between the ACRO or Ladder-Max models?

    I've been looking up and down for roof-standoff attachments for any brand of ladder I have. Thank you so much for making and posting this.

    The orange little tip that you're talking about I believe is to lean against the wall and use as a stabilizer. For roof it should be made in angle and exchangeable. It could be for each one two different angles at180 degree apart for different roof pitch. You would adjust it according to your roof pitch. I don't understand why people make complicated things but forget a little detail.

    These are great. But why do all of them cost as much as or more than the ladder?

    Thank you for the review. It was very helpful. But it actually has me leaning toward the Levelok that you didn't include. It plugs into the side of the rungs, so doesn't interfere with your step like both of these do. I also hadn't thought about it until seeing your video that both of these are going to require me to install the standoff after getting the ladder out, and having to remove it before collapsing it to put away.

      John Henderson This review was for heavy duty standoffs that I own. I actually have the type you are talking about. Have had it for years. Since it was not in my review I will not give my impressions of it here.

    Thanks I’m about to go up hopefully not to the angles but it’s high.
    I like the spread out on the noddles to less moving safety first I’m 57 I don’t need to be falling.

    Ladder Max Feet lack ability to Sit Flat. re: No swivel for angled surface, sad - perhaps a Fix.
    That's using [your] "Noodle", *GREAT Idea!*

    They seem far away from the roof the later does so you have to reach out around the ladder to find your footing Especially on a high roof that could be dangerous seem like ladder would fall backwards I’m not sure I’m going to rig something to ladder to the Facia board seems more safe not to have anything moving that high up.

      Having the ladder to grab onto as you step onto the roof helps for me. Much safer I feel.

    The orange tips are for walls the yellow tips are for roofs

      Smash...the Ladder-Max only comes with the "orange" tips which I find not good for an asphalt roof surface. Too hard.

    Microlite stand off in my opinion is far better than these 2
    It has D wheels which squash down slightly on the ruff sorry meant roof. This makes the ladder very secure.

    • @starastronomer
      @starastronomer  Před 3 lety

      Got to disagree. The Acro has more surface area which gives better stability. Plus the Acro allows it to be used on outside corners of a building. The Ladder Max also attaches easier than what I can tell the Microlite does on a ladder. Is the Microlite sold in the USA? I did not see it on any USA web site. The Acro is deffinetly the best of the group. The down side is it is heavy.

    What a piss poor design on the laddermax. Save your gutters while gouging your roof shingles especially on a hot day.
