I've been playing for 20-plus years self-taught. I plateaued and then Never got any better. So now I'm going back and learning basics. This was very helpful. Thank you!
"J" you are the best so far on CZcams and teaching the rudiments! I'm a beginner @ 72 years old since 1962! and have been beating on everything related to Rock and Roll and Salsa on my Bongos! THANKS! I am now the proud owner of a $50.00 snare! Wish me luck!
Thank you young sir...I’ve been on my drumming journey for 37 years and had no idea how many of these Rudiments that I actually did use....and many new one I’ve yet to learn....thank you ..Jim Hammond Louisiana...🥁🥁
Thanks everybody to see my instructional video, when I can I will record all of forty essential rudiments on drum kit too! I'm really glad I can help you! Keep drumming! :)
Hats off brother...I’ve been playing 35 years paying gigs off and on...and I can play most of these but I can not name them..so hats off for taking the time to learn them all ..👍
I like how you timed this out. Go through your rudiment workshop here 4 times and a person could get in an hour a day on the 40 rudiments and then move on to another area of study.
Some of these I thought looked ten times harder written down then I seen him doing them and i thought okay that don't look too too hard, then i go to try some and I realize yeah those are as hard as they looked lol I've got alot of work and practicing to do..thanks for uploading this vid its very helpful~
went thru high school and college band. just needed basic notes written on the sheet music. i.e. 1812 overture, etc. no need for a hundred rudiments. just a roll and paradidle. good to practice though
Too cool, I liked the video, subscribed and shared it for you. I was a drum corp drummer and stopped many years ago, man I need to get it started again.
Tnx for this good material to practice and become better with those exercises, but I noticed something on exercise 11 at final sound two times but you don't play twice.
Nice. The double strokes though start out straight then, when the speed increases a little, the left hand bunches up and they come out swinging. It doesn't appear intentional and isn't noted so it's worth being aware of the difference if learning from this - it makes a world of difference to the music, that feeling of 'insistance' particularly seems compromised by irregularity between the hands like that. - Something I've recently discovered for myself after realising my left hand was swinging everything unintentionally.
Hey drummers!! Its good to understand these things and if you practise that more tools you get to work, but please don`t forget, its on the road...its in your daily experience on the road, how to get a sound, rehearsing with bands seriuslly, doing shows, and then back to road again if its posible, technique is just a tool, metronome is a friend, record things, learn with mistakes and keep believing...be open mind, understanting a lot of music will hellp us to find our personality and that`s the point...the most taugh one, our sound, our personality, our band, if you don`t get a lot of tecniques doesn`t matter, write songs, songs change the world, not techniques, songs touch the hearts, the girls or boys love it!! How to show your music, how to express, be creative, remember...tecnique is just a tool, develop the taste, lot of rehearsals playing what you love, dont do drugs, drink beer, smoke weed pots, respect others, love animals, absorve new values... Go to the Venus project.com and enjoy!! Cheers friends!! im not english so sorry my bad poetry...
Bro I could nit pick a bunch of little things like that. That's really not the point. The point is to help people get better so they can see and hear it and when they're good enough then they'll notice that he did it right right instead of left right a few times. Rock on bro.
@@jorgealcazardrums2717 Rudiments are very important for playing the drums. It can really help with techniques on the drums 🥁. I have been playing the drums for about 20 years and when I started learning rudiments it really help me become a better drummer.
Nice video. I guess I'm old. Wait - I know I'm old. In the late 60s , we learned only 26 rudiments and used the traditional grip. I'm using it in my avatar from 1972. I do see the relevance of the 14 others though.
this a good one. ok, i just watch 31 seconds then stopped. let me work on that and then i will move on. This is good. Gotta be this simple. Cause drums are simple just gotta practice. and that a fact!!!! Thank you for putting this out.
I've been playing for 20-plus years self-taught. I plateaued and then Never got any better. So now I'm going back and learning basics. This was very helpful. Thank you!
this is an all too common thing. Rudiments and sight reading is what you need.

Thumbs up for going thru all of those and having the sheet music up right there. Excellent.

Great job I am so glad to hear this played on an actual snare drum and not a practice pad!!!
Thanks everybody to see my instructional video, when I can I will record all of forty essential rudiments on drum kit too! I'm really glad I can help you! Keep drumming! :)
I was looking for these kinds of tutorials! I would love to see more and hopefully full songs.
Probably, the best video about rudiments in drums. Thanks for sharing!

This is actually a great collection of all the essentials with good demonstration and notation, I'll be using this to study and practice so thanks!

Thank you for not talking to the camera or explaining what rudiments are etc.
Complainers will complain
Good work. Keep it up.
Amit Chakraborty thank you man! :)
Most of these are much more fun to practice as the Rudimental Ritual with an ostinato. Doubt if there's much press roll exercises in the piece.
Thanks very much my bro
It's very helpful
i hope you make some other videos for 30 by 40 and describe them with more ditailes.
Great video very helpful. Thank you

try keeping your fingers on the sticks at all times, allows for more control over the slower more delicate rudiments.
Awesome content!

Nice video. Need to work on more rudiments. Thanks so much. Greg Hickey.
thank you greg! keep playing! :)
I don't wanna be *that* guy either, but you kept starting the seven stroke roll with your right hand. When it really should be alternated.
Amrit Mehta I know bro! I was wrong when I did the montage of the video! Sorry! By the way it's easier starting with same hand all the time!
Jorge Alcázar haha no problem!
of course its easier! that is your dominant hand bud...the point is to strengthen, don't cheat yourself.
ok im not the only one who noticed that lol

Jorge: Out of all the rudiments, which do you apply the most in your playing--aside from the single stroke?
ey matt! all the rudiments can apply on drum kit! maybe in another video I will explain it! :)
I'd assume the double stroke rolls
Earned a sub.+ like!
A.J. Dumalagan thank you man!
rudiment 2 is also known as a ruff
nice
How about making Rudiment King for Android users as well. It'd be so helpful if you did Thanks!
Very good 👍👍👍
Carlos Torres thank you bro! :)
You didn't begin the second half of your single stroke seven on the left like the notation specifies. Is that normal? Can you begin it on either hand?
Nice video. I guess I'm old. Wait - I know I'm old. In the late 60s , we learned only 26 rudiments and used the traditional grip. I'm using it in my avatar from 1972. I do see the relevance of the 14 others though.
You slice really hard
and keep your back fingers on the stick so you can use back fulcrum
this great no blal bla bla. Straight to the source
this a good one. ok, i just watch 31 seconds then stopped. let me work on that and then i will move on. This is good. Gotta be this simple. Cause drums are simple just gotta practice. and that a fact!!!! Thank you for putting this out.
