as a Dutch person we sadly used to colonize Indonesia and as a result we have a lot of Indosesian people living here in Holland, not immigrants, like second or third generation, i even have a aunt who's from Java and her whoooole family of brothers, sisters and nephews and nieces who i also consider to be family. So what i'm trying to say is that i know my indonesian food and it is BOMB!

It's nice to know that Indonesian language sounds like Vietnamese, Filipino, and a pinball machine had a baby 😀 I've been wondering what Indonesian language sounds like to foreigners.
But I'm not agree when you say Indonesian pronunciation is hard because I think Indonesian phonetics are pretty straight forward, unlike English that have many inconsistencies.
a german friend of mine actually says our language sounds like a combination between french and japanese. :P

Indonesian guy burping guide:

Indonesian throws me off SO much because of how similar it is to Tagalog in the way it sounds. I expect to hear Tagalog, but then it comes out all jumbled to me and my brain doesn't know what to do...In the dialect of Mindanao which is the South of the Philippines, it's very influenced by Indonesian to the point where I have absolutely no clue what they're saying. It's just so different.

When I visit family in the Philippines, there are no forks and spoons unless they're for serving when we eat at home. Its actually kinda fun to eat with your hands. I believe its called kamayan. There are some pretty bomb kamayan restaurants here in the U.S. you should try. Everything is served on banana leaves and is a great place for big groups to share food.

indonesian doesnt sound like filipino, but.. filipino that sound like indonesian! because some words of filipino are from bahasa indonesia/malay. same words, same meaning like; tawa:laugh, lima:five, mahal: expensive, anak: child, and so on..
I am sure we Indonesian doesn't sound like thais or vietnamese, theirs belong to tone language, and we're not.. Otherwise yeah indeed we speak quite fast lol (at least on foreigners ears)
i never realized that we indonesian talks fast. but when i was a kid, i always thought that the way american talks (from tv) is pretentious because they talk slow and their tone when talking is so vary and sounds so fake. i especially annoyed when i hear kids talking in american english. lol. of course i don't think that way anymore for the american themselves. but i do still think that when indonesian talks in english especially if they talk with american accent is so pretentious. its really weird why i think that way. different cultures man. leads to so many ignorant misunderstanding. lol

lol I'm not Indonesian, Malaysian rather, so I do speak Malay and it's similar enough that I can and do speak Indonesian with my Indo friends at times; and watching David pronounce the most basic things in Indonesian is the cutest :')
also props to that Malaysian cameo at 0:15 woot woot 🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇨🇲🇨 I think you should deffo try Indonesian, Malaysian and Singaporean food as many a dish seem similar enough but each country has their own unique spin on things.

eating with hands did come from India -the culture of South East Asia (apart from Vietnam and the Philippines) was all Hindu-Bhuddist. Even after other religions came over eating with hands was maintained.
So you question why Indonesian eats with their hands? And chopsticks? Indonesia is a meeting pot of asia.. So yea, some part of Indonesia the food would taste Indian, western and Chinese.
