  • From the archives (2017) Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department responds midday to a fully involved house fire on Corvette Place with unedited RAW footage from the scene. At the time this home was abandoned and the fire was deemed suspicious as a result of the time of day, the amount of fire, and certain items found in the home.
    After a quick search of what could be searched, crews went defensive and got this fire under control rather quickly.
    No injuries were reported at this fire and the investigation of the cause was turned over to the state.
    Sit back and watch and listen as this scene unfolded and remember this is just RAW footage.

    Most people don't realize that most of firefighting involves more mundane tasks, such as pulling ceilings, putting out hot spots, salvage, and rolling hose. Your videos capture these sorts of tasks. great job!

    You always do a great job capturing your firefighters hard at work (even in 2017) It angers me when firefighters are put in danger by someone’s greed. Glad no one was injured.

    I’m not a firefighter but I watch them for educational purposes, so please excuse my ignorance. Why are vitals being taken on the firefighter and are they being taken on all of them or just the one shown?
    Also, thank you for showing all of the aspects of a fire run from the beginning to end. Most don’t show the clean up and if you aren’t a firefighter you have no concept of how much really goes into the cleanup of a scene.

      It is part of our rehab process…it is a very intense and strenuous job, not to mention hot…for the health of our members we make sure their vital signs are within certain limits before we put them back to work or send them back to their station to finish out their shifts…potential problems can be found and addressed before we hurt or kill any of them

    How do they wash the suits the FF's use? Does it just go in a regular washing machine or does it take another method to clean them?

    • @scottrobinson3353
      @scottrobinson3353 Před 10 měsíci +1

      They have an extraction machine, which is a fancy washing machine to clean their gear after a fire, but they also scrub it down at the scene as well.

      Yup
      That is also one of the reasons you see more and more FD's arriving station casual and then bunkering up and throwing their turnout on scene, trying to keep contaminates out of the cab. This is part of the"clean cab" concept that is really starting to work its way into the service in recent years.

      Agreed
      I started my firefighting career in the 80's when such things were not even on the horizon yet. By the time I retired nearly 30 years later we had in-house industrial washers/extractors, issued two sets of gear, forced air living quarters, etc. Lots of changes during that time to help firefighter health.
