Love, Love, Love The Color of Water!
YES!!!
❤❤❤
I too listened to, The Color of Water, in February. It was such a wonderful experience and now I have purchased five more of his novels.
Wonderful! I definitely plan on reading his backlist. Love him!
helllllooooo.....😊😊
Hi lovely lady!
im going to check out.....tia williams!!!😊
It was such a good read!
One of the books I read in February was based on a book you reviewed, The Street by Ann Petry. I enjoyed it but was totally surprised by the plot twist at the end. I literally had to read the page twice!! I went to Barnes and didn’t hesitate to grab, The Narrows. Thanks for your recommendations, always adding more to my TBR when I watch your videos.
Awww that means so much to me to hear! Thank you and that ending had me in a chokehold!!!!!! I plan on reading The Narrows soon. Country Place is worth the read as well. :)
I read The Color of Water a couple of months ago and enjoyed it a lot - I agree that the audio was fantastic. I think I've mentioned this before but Barracoon by Zora Neale Hurston is a perfect NF corrollary to African Town if you haven't read it yet-it's super interesting. It's an account of Hurston's 3-month project to interview the last living person who was trafficked from Africa on the Clotilda.
Yes! I definitely need to get the audiobook for Barracoon! I read an excerpt over a year ago and was so deeply moved by it. Thank you for the reminder!
Oh I meant to mention Shut Up, You’re Pretty by Teà Mutonji. It was a finalist in Canada Reads and was defended by Kudakwashe Rutendo, a stunning 23 year old actress. It’s a collection of short stories with a main character woven in. I haven’t read it yet but it’s on my list.
I will definitely try to watch that one soon as well! Thanks for the recs!
Omigosh Denise. I enjoyed this video immensely and added several books to my TBR. Did you ever see the movie Amistad? It was an historical drama about the ship Amistad that brought slaves to the US and ended up in a court case. It is traumatic but yet has funny parts. It came out in 1997 and might be dated in its content. Anyway, I thought I would mention it. I’d be so interested in your views.
Yay! Love you so much! Do you know I have yet to watch Amistad?! I have been too afraid of the emotions it would bring up within me. You're inspiring me to give it a go!
The first part is gut wrenching but then it becomes a legal thriller.
