Who killed the Russian war blogger, Vladlen Tartarsky? | Michael Clarke

- “It could be the beginning of a false flag operation, because the Putin Regime is certainly capable of it.”
If Ukraine is responsible for the death of Vladlen Tartarsky, they’ll never own up to it, says Michael Clarke, former Director General at RUSI.

True. At this point, it is clear Putin's plans towards Ukraine were similar to plans an infamous painter with mustache had in mind when invading Poland in 1939. Destruction of the nation, russification, annexation of better parts, turning the rest into puppet state, etc. Good luck negotiating. Russians never negotiate in good faith and they perceive negotiations as a weakness. Basically, every time the west would appease, Putin would attempt to grab more.
It’s a message to end this war before it ends you.
I have a feeling more people will be randomly exploding so long as this unwarranted war continues
“Tatarsky” had military intelligence background and a pal who owns a private army. He was one of Russia’s most popular bloggers. Recently he became openly scathing about how the war has been managed. Maybe it was regarded as an emerging rival faction. Maybe it was.

Trepova was being watched by the FSB, and is hardly likely to be able to make such a sophisticated device. As she was being watched by the FSB, it would be easier for someone else to plant the bomb directly rather than giving it to her to plant.
My guess is the FSB looked through their books of hookers, found one that looked like Trepova, made her up to look even more like Trepova, and gave her the statue. So they killed one Putin critic and arrested another Putin critic for a crime she didn't commit. The police will beat a confession out of her and a compliant judge will do the rest.
Also plausible.

Sounds way more like Putin wasn't happy with the critism and boom! Extra benefit from this event would be blaming Ukraine for it and now Russia can justify attacks on pro Ukrainian bloggers which is truly frightening.
Have to say I totally agree. Tartarsky was creating a lot of turmoil and unrest, which would be perfect for Ukraine - the more internal bickering in RU, the better. The only advantage Ukraine is getting from this is further proof that the "special operation" is not going according to plan.
Exactly. The only way Russia can attempt to stay on track with the floundering special operation is to eliminate prominent Russians who are not totally on board and complete yes men. Expect plenty more going boom and falling out of windows unless this frightens people enough for them all to shut the f'ck up and get in line.

The Russian invasion was entirely evil and the conduct of some their troops deserves condemnation. How different is the actions of Russia to those of, say, the USA in Grenada, Iraq and Afghanistan? All conflicts started to further the interests of the perpetrator. You can argue it’s a matter of degrees but, for me, the reality, is that there are no blameless governments in this.

Vlad was simply the first recipient of Russia's new Most Likely To Be Immolated award. It followed all the usual hallmarks of any award ceremony. Introductions, lovely young lady presents a golden statue, he gives an acceptance speech, and then bursts into flames. Nothing to see here...
I can't help but wonder who the next recipient will be.
The real tragedy is that a thoughtful young lady felt compelled to committ a desperate act to try and remove an evil from her country, and will lose her freedom or perhaps her life over such a worthless human being. At least she did something about the evil, though. More Russians need to step up and follow suit.
it doesn't seem like she knowingly participated. why stay so close to the statue at the time of its detonation if you know it is full of explosives?
It's very easy to imagine partisans sabatoging statue without her knowing. She was a supporter and fan of the blogger and was near him in the blast. But Russia being paranoid Russia, you can bet she will be tortured even if she was the innocent delivery system
Except according to Russian TV she was an anti-war activist who's been arrested a couple of times during protests. I think the one who gave him the statue was not the one who was arrested despite visual similarities.
