I hope you guys notice at 03:08 it's from the original fight. Remember how even Obi-Wan spinning looked awkward, but now it's corrected and fast :D
this guys are awesome they made a great work! I was more excited with this than with fuckin episode 8
Would love if you could react to the fan made "tie fighter" video
I’d love to have a version of a New Hope with this in it!
Thanks for checking out the video and spreading the word on Scene 38!
Thanks so much for this!! You guys did an absolutely amazing job! You can be credited with keeping (the real) Star Wars nostalgia alive for us true fans! Thanks again!!
You guys did amazing!! But that new soundtrack was to die for!!!
This was awesome! Thanks for the hard work 👍🏾👍🏾
This was brilliant!
Thanks guys, it was incredible. Disney have to do something like this.
The guys: "He's on fire!"
Vader: "Meh, I've had worse."
Ha
xdxddddd
His suit has a lot of special qualities that nullify fire and cold. Not only that, both his arms are bionic anyways 😂
Yeah, lol
You can just see how pissed he was after that
“Fuck me stop lighting me in fire you bastard”
what did vader expect when he stepped on the robe? like a tiny obi wan, hiding under the cloth?
Maybe to mark his place or something.
Noone:
Vader: IT'S A TRAP... door... maybe?
To be fair, the old man turned into a ghost, between that and turning into a midget... I don't know man, the force is fucking weird (?(
Actually, yes guys. He reduces his size with the force. But my boy Vader is smart and crushed it with his foot.
Anakin has never seen someone become one with the force before that moment.
This isn't an old man fighting. This is an old man fighting his LAST fight. There are no holds barred...he is fighting knowing he will likely die, this is it. This fight has all the stakes, even more than his fight in Episode III. He has Luke and Leia and the future depending on him as well. This is how a Jedi Master fights, and why they were so respected. They aren't normal people, and this is a very special duel to the death.
bowwing333 “ever great champion has one great fight left in him”
I agree. The only thing I'd change is that Obi-Wan knew he might likely die. Instead, I'd say he knew 100% that he was going to die. The fight, for Obi-Wan, was just about holding his ground until he could see Luke was safe - or possibly so that Luke could see him die. Either way, Obi-Wan knew his fate was set the moment he left Tatooine.
Amen!
Indeed. He was merely performing a delaying action, allowing time for Luke, Han, and Leia to escape. He knew he wasn't leaving the Death Star alive..but he also needed to face his former apprentice one last time..to gain some closure, before becoming one with the Force.
Well said
People do forget that Vader had to create his own combat style to compensate for his stiff movement. This mainly consisted of strong slashes and lots of cleaving movements
Edit: Came back to this after 7 months, honestly didn’t expect all the likes, Thank you!
He loses basically any semblance of technique and speed and replaces it with methodical strikes that exude domination.
Just like with his own personal fall, he drops the Jedi in his style in favor of the power of the Dark Side.
Doesn’t help that he hits hard so the impact of blocking his strikes is very dangerous if your defense breaks.
I believe he still implemented Shien/Djem So, his form from his prime as a Jedi. Just to the raw basics and power.
Even his Sith lightsaber was designed to compensate his lack of flexibility and had a module to increase the size and power output of the blade. But he had such a disdain for its crude design (in his opinion). Honestly Vader’s saber is one of my favorites.
@@cmrobbins88 he did he also got some help from sith holocrons left by Darth Malgus
And the fact he couldn't lift his arms over his head.
You're forgetting that Yoda was also old as heck and he could move very smoothly because he used the Force to assist his movements. Not a stretch to think Obi-Wan would be doing the same.
Imagine prime yoda
@@elliotkouame3849 I don't know what you mean by this, but if you mean the whole Yoda using the force to assist his movements thing, you do realize that the Prequels exist right? I mean, in both of Yoda's fights, he absorbs force lightning and seems to use that energy to fight, as for the Jedi temple scene, the Jedi temple is strong with the force.
This made that scene from IV so much better, the fight choreography fit Obi-Wan and Vader's styles plus the added music especially near Obi-Wan's death, the fight in the original was pretty stiff and awkward but of course to be fair it was the first Star Wars after all. I know George Lucas made a remastered version of the original trilogy but this is the kind of stuff that he should have improved on he dropped the ball on the opportunity.
Count Dooku as well was old and yet still quick
I think that there is a regression in both fighting styles. Comparing to ROTS where both fighters were moving so fast you could barely tell what was going on, the slower pace here does convey the fact that Obi-Wan has aged and changed his fighting style as a result of that just as Vader had to change his fighting style when he got burned.
Vader was so confused, he could sense Obi Wan and his presence even after death.
I don’t think he was sensing Kenobi, but rather Luke.
Cydonia2020 well he seemed to have heard obi wans voice when he spoke to Luke
@@Cydonia2020 He legit said "Kenobi" so he heard his voice, which means he sensed him lol.
@@darthpryce was it kenobi? I heard "cant be" either in response to sensing kenobi or luke
@@johnathancarrillo6990 Yeah I thought he said "can't be" as well but after watching several more times, and several more reactions, he definitely said "Kenobi".
Vader fights like the Jedi exterminator he's supposed to be. Cold and brutal.
I don't think there's anything cold about his fighting style. It's more pipping hot with anger, but very methodical at the same time.
I love they gave him the one handed grip like in Empire
Plus him just beating the shit out of Obi Wan is amazing (you can just feel the hate)
And Kenobi shows us he's no tame old fossil. The dude that beat down two sith lords is still in there.
Need a Vader series or movie of him hunting down Jedis
Three years later...did you watch 'Obi Wan Kenobi' on Disney? In one episode, Vader was a merciless beast. Cold and brutal pretty much covers it.
Something I found awesome was just how much Anakin was in this fight. This fight was absolutely personal which is something Vader hasn't had in a very long time, to the point where he's punching and headbutting Obi-Wan. Which I think we can all agree that's not very Vader, but it's EXTREMELY Anakin.
Check out the Vader comics. He's very much a ruthless and uncaring fighter. Doing whatever it takes to destroy his opponents.
@@kovenmaitreya7184 necro-ing but the new Vader comic (2020) or the 2017-8 Comic?

The stunt choreographer playing Darth Vader, Stephen Oyoung, is the same person that portrays Mister Negative in the PS4 Spiderman game.
Masterchiefston 8804 holy shit he kicked ass
Well dang no wonder his movements were great
WHAT THE HELL!?
It's so good man, such a great re-imagining. You can tell some spots were a little rough but overall it's so fantastic.
I think the roughest spot was the Force Push from Obiwan against Vader during the wide when it was clear it was a still image pulled across frame.
@@pearchris For sure, that was is pretty visable
YOU SAID FANTASTIC!!! must be a whovian hmm?
@@Dalek63 please be satire
Yeah there's a few inconsistencies and yet its so good its forgivable, one dedicated fan has managed to inspire more 'Pure Star wars' than many multi billion dollar corps have in the past few years.
I love how they capture Vader's aggression and strength, almost like he's fighting in power armor. And the voices from the past put a shiver down my spine.
You can feel Vader's hatred when you hear Anakin say "I hate you", because of the power in Vader's swings, the way he kept fighting when he was on fire, and when he punches Kenobi. Perfectly done video!!!
it felt like how the two would fight, obi wan with his mastery of the defensive style while you can see the vicious jedi hunter that vader is with power and brutality
I feel like the old man fighting fast still works though, especially when you think of Yoda. Although he moved pretty stiff with his cane and all that, when it came to using the Force and getting business done he was extremely agile. I feel like Obi moving fast still works :) maybe its just weird to see haha
Yes that’s exactly how I felt at first😂
Marlin K I totally agree. It’s why I hate Yoda fighting in the prequels
Yoda shows just how fast an old jedi can move, an old jedi is a scary jedi
Awesome fighting, but u can't beat the Obi Wan Vs Darth Maul fight scene in Rebels. Less fancy fighting and more technique.
was looking for this.
When I was a little kid, watching ep4 in theaters, that scene was powerful. As I got older though, and got to know who those 2 characters were supposed to be, I was a bit disappointed. Vader was the most powerful force sensitive, prior to Luke, and beyond deadly with a saber as well. Obi Wan, among Jedis, was one of the.most experienced warriors ever. These 2 were be-all-end-all warriors, and Yoda and Duku had already established that age doesn't diminish a force user the way it does other people.
I think this re-edit shows us the real threat that each of these guys brings. They weren't doddering old codgers. They were both death personified and feared across the galaxy.
Yeah, but it was reasonable since it was filmed in the 70s. Also their lightsabers were as efficient as props as compared as today
Yeah that Vader Obi Wan duel definitely hasn't aged well Lol it's a little cringey to watch now
@@shaiii1148 Good as point, as I as agree.
It's just supposed to be a tense battle between two old friends that obi-wan knew he was most likely going to die but he was trying to buy time for the team to get off the death star
3:38 Vader does a little sabre flourish "A little bit of Anakin there!", then Obiwan replies with a little flourish of his own.
For me, this recreation fits in exactly between that mix of old school 70'sfighting style with the new(ish) prequels style of combat, while also allowing it to fit nicely into canon due to their physical conditions, Anakin's/Vader robotic style that restricts movement (which also fits well with his Rogue one appearance, and Obiwans human aging body, while still portraying their combat styles of the prequels and Clone wars series.
Excellent stuff that puts the multi billion dollar corps to shame with their latest Star Wars efforts.
This was absolutely amazing!!
I often go back to your Chosen One video to feel things.
Add it to the choosen one video or make a whole new vid with it
Oh shit time for a chosen one update.
Use it in a new star wars vid? Pleaseeee
Your chosen one video remember me why i love star wars i always cry, thank you dude ♥️
Love love love how much more menacing this makes Vader look. It's perfect. Even the use of Alec Guinness' face is impressive. Really well done.
the only critique that i have is that it reveals that he's Anakin
If you watched the Prequels you already know that at this point.
@@Bdakkon a lot of people watch the original trilogy first and don't know that though. There might have been a more clever choice of prequel dialogue they could have picked. Like for instance just have him say "you were my brother", and chop off the anakin
Yeah, but you didn't know that Anakin was Luke's father when Ep. IV came out. You just know he was an apprentice of Obi-Wan's who turned to the Dark Side.
Well, if this had actually been in the movie when it originally came out, then a lot of those lines alluding to the prequels, the non-spoken lines, wouldn't have been in the scene.
the clip assumes that we've watched the original and prequel trilogy already
after all it's been more than a decade since the release of Revenge of the Sith
The diagonal strike was to display his anger and rage at kenobi which was the theme throughout the fight.
Yoda was old too, Palpatine also, but they could channel the force through his body to move quickly. You're comparing them to normal people.
That guy clearly has nostalgia bias towards anything related to the OT and doesn't realize that's how Vaders saber combat is supposed to be extremely aggressive and over powering in fact if I'm not mistaken Vader wasn't even all that old during this duel I think he was around his early 40's some OT fans seem to think that Vader is the same age as Obi Wan Lol
and obiwan isnt really that old.. canonically hes 54 in episode 4
Dooku
To answer those who wonder why Vader step on Obi Wan’s robe at the end, maybe he thought there’s a hole 🕳 and Obi Wan jump into it....and again sacrificed his robe.... and we all know when ever Obi Wan drop his robe in a fight, he wins~
Now that you mention it its true obiwan does win everytime he drops his robe cool fact
He also never made contact with Kenobi. He disappeared before vader hit him.
The original still makes the most sense but you can’t deny the greatness that this takes from the Prequels. It would of been an amazing duel had it gone down like this.
I agree. This is a cool looking video but misses the tone and theme of the original. It's still fun to watch.
The actors were told to treat the light sabers as if you were basically holding onto a motorcycle engine in combat. Which is why the swings were choreographed the way they were in the original trilogy.
They were using glass tubes and if they hit to hard they would shatter so they went light. I like the obi vader fight the way it is but also love the prequels too
@@markjones3795 Where did you hear that? They weren't glass tubes, they were solid wood, painted projection material.
nothing in SW make sense in the first place
this edit is amazing, really shows the emotion there should have been in that fight
2:06 Surprised they didn't mention the anger, hate, and aggression put into that shot

Speed and movment of Obi-Wan can be easly explained by force that flows in him. Like Yoda.
Obi-Wan really pushing with the force augmentation to match Vader that was a real fight for survival
Obi wan could've just been using the force to speed up his moves like Yoda does
Obi Wan didn't want to win, he wanted to lose the fight, "if you strike me down, I shall become more powerful that you could possibly imagine", he was only fighting Vader to give time to Luke and the others to escape!
@@-_Nuke_- well yeah I know that, I was just trying to give an explanation to when they were saying hes too old to move that fast lol.
@@juliocooliojones oh yes correct
Maybe he is doing it haha
@@-_Nuke_- one way or another Vader would win
I can't believe that this probably low budget fight was more intense than the sequels...
Vader’s swordfighting style embodies the most dangerous parts of the prequel villains:
Maul’s savagery and anger, Dooku’s one-handed precision, and Grievous’s mechanical brutality
My take on Vader's fighting here: he's acting like he's fighting someone he hates. He's had at least 20 years for that hatred to fester, and now that he's finally getting his rematch it's all come screaming back to the surface and it absolutely shows.
I saw this and the first thing i thought was "the Blind Wave crew has to react to this"
From what I've heard, the reason that Obi-Wan and Vader's fight was so slow in universe was because both of them had no idea what the other had learned in the past 19 years. They didn't know what the other had in store for the fight so basically they were scared of each other so they just jabbed at each other and waited to see what the other was going to do.
Bruh really
@@karandeeps.9573 That's just what I've heard. I tend to believe it because I've heard a few times from different unrelated channels
Best parts for me:
@3:09 Obi Spin
@3:28 Darth Saber-Uppercut
@6:10 Samurai Move Of Saber When Slaying Obi
AND YES you guys gotta do more lightsaber stuff! #Ferocity #RIPThePit
This was great and I can say a million good things about it. My favorite part is that it kept true to the characters and did not have them do 1000 flips and excessive lightsaber twirling like the PT. I have 3 criticisms, two of which are very minor. 1) I do not think Vader would use the Force to bring his saber to his hand, he designed it with D-rings at the top and bottom for a reason. 2) When Vader says "now you will die" he should have said "you should not have come back" as the line was not used anywhere else and is a little more Vaderesque. Those two things are very minor but stuck out to me. The real criticism I would have is that Obi-wan seemed defeated in this fight which is not what happened in ANH. Vader could not penetrate Obi-wan's defense creating a stalemate. Had the fight gone on eventually Vader would have won due to attrition. Obi-wan knew this from the beginning but had to confront his old student. Obi-wan sacrificed himself in the way he did to allow the others to escape. Watching the end of this fight it seems Vader had the duel won. So before everyone starts disliking my comment because of a criticism, realize that I absolutely loved this and believe the creators hold the same opinions on lightsabers and Jedi as I do, which is rare.
absolutely loved the intensity to this. it added much more depth and complexity to the emotive sense between them
For me, this is one change I WISH they'd make to ep4. It was epic and added so much emotion.
Of all the changes made to star wars, this is a change that would truly enhance an already great film.
Screw your "maclunky" crap.
Glad to see you guys react and enjoyed this! This is the only thing I ever wanted to be redone in the entire original trilogy and now I got it. This is the kind of intensity in a fight I'd expect after 20 years of pent up anger from Vader since Mustafar. Sure if you put it under a microscope you can pick out some issues but it still fits in with the movie better than a lot of the CGI from the special editions.
i get teary eyed , when they replay the last words they ever said to each other " I Hate You ! ' Your were my brother Anakin I loved you " 😭
"Angry old man" Wtf are you talking about? Have you seen Yoda fight? have you seen Dooku fight? Palpatine? Its cause they also use the force.
It’s amazing. This is how Vader would have fought after Rouge One. It’s also amazing how a 6 minute replacement from a movie from 1977 can be better than Force Awakens, Last Jedi, and Solo COMBINED!!!!
You're reaching with that comment. Could've said all of Solo and it would've worked.
Yeah guess ur right but u know what I mean
Disney's reaction " TAKE NOTES!!! TAKE NOTES!!"
Disney: "Write that down! Write that down!"
Watched it some many times and I still get chills whenever I watch this
I get the chills every time I watch, this is amazing!
Honestly, I would have been one of the Stormtroopers guarding the Falcon if I saw a duel this cool.
This fight: Awesome and epic
Actual fight: Old dudes with sticks
Me: The f*ck!!!
Excellent professional work.! Continue as you stand in your essence.
It might've looked out of place in some parts. I love how they kept true to the original. Wonderfully done.
One handed is Anakin's style of fighting which made it more emotional as he was fighting obi wan. And it looked more Vader as he attacks more with anger
The flashback voices were a little much but this is still awesome
I first saw this version of the classic scene maybe 2 years ago, and it still works.
The saber force draw the one liners 'there is no escape' added beautiful absolutely beautiful
As much as I like this reimagined and wish it was cannon, the original makes sense to the story. Obi-wan hasn’t fought in years and the last time Vader fought this man he was too cocky and Obi-Wan took advantage of this. Vader was not going to make the same mistake again and mimicked Obi-Wan’s slow movements. But again this is amazing!
Obi-wan probably wasn't too rusty considering what we saw of him in Rebels. That was only 2-3 years before episode 4.
I understand the limitations of back then but for this there's a better explanation that fits in that Vader is enraged after losing his limbs 20 years ago & just wanted to go ham on the man who took them away. Even in this re-imagining, Obi-Wan is mostly just going on the defensive. A New Hope will always be a classic but let's be honest, the fight did not age well
Actually the re-imagined one makes more sense given what we saw in rebels where Kenobi ended a fight in 3 moves, obviously even in this re-imagined version Kenobi isn't at the peak of skill that he was in during the clone wars but it shows that he was still skilled and even in this one he's still on the defensive for most of the fight only ever attacking when an opening presents itself.
I love both it really depends how i feel. If i want the original no George Lucas edits i will watch the original version but if i watch the revisted version i will edit this into a new hope.
@CJ P. yeah exactly 1970s choreography was not even close to what they have today in TV and movies. Wasn't even thought of that much back then.
If they put the budget into it they totally could remake the OG series to include badass stuff like this and make it feel like it belonged
This is better than anything that was in the Last Jedi. Masters being masters
Love this reimagined scene so much I’ve done a quick edit with ‘a new hope’ and also added a another scene “obi-wan has PTSD” in as well and I quite like the result.
qudos to the guys for making this
Been waiting for you guys to react to this.
These fan films and remakes get me moe hyped than the movies anymore sadly
Still hoping you guys react to Kenobi by HFP
from all the reactors you’re guys are the best
Beautiful... absolutely beautiful!! What an amazing video!
As far as Kenobi fighting like an old man, if Yoda can use the Force to move around like a jack rabbit, don't you think Ben can use the force in the same way?
You guys should react to the Maul: Apprentice fanfilm. The choreography is absolutely amazing
They reacted to it
TbcAlex I just searched it up on CZcams though and there was no video of them reacting to it...
It’s nice to see Eric actually enjoy one of these for a change
You should see how they did it. It was all green screen with guys in green body suits and green mats for them to bounce off of. It was incredible.
Yoda used the force to compensate for physical disadvantage. Not sure why Obiwan couldn't do the same thing.
That was awesome but i want to see blindwave react to Dorky: Pokemon Rusy version its amazing.
I second this
I love this cause Vader is very much fighting a grudge match looking for revenge on the guy who threw him in lava
The utter silence followed by pleasantly surprised laughter after the 2nd fight sequence shows how powerful this all was
It's good until the end. The original ending where you get Luke's theme and see the final blow from his point of view is kinda the point.
Still, appreciate the talent and effort
And now, that's my canon! XD
Petition to have this edit canonized and placed into the official footage of the movie
The piece I think you guys may have missed about this scene re-do was at the end, when Kenobi dies and becomes one with the force, he speaks to Luke as he did in the original scene... But in this scene Vader senses it. He almost hears Kenobi speaking to Luke, as he touches the door. This is subtle, but it sort of suggests that it's at this point when Vader realizes who Luke is... Or at least, who he potentially may be. In a way it makes the trench battle at the end of ANH a little bit different if Vader had an inkling that it might have been the same person as had escaped on the Falcon.
A lot of people tend to call the original the worst fight, but I consider it one of the best. It is much more realistic and doesn't have a lot of wasted, flashy movements (though Kenobi does get a spin move in there). It plays as a battle between two old masters who know if they get flashy they will get hit. They are testing each other's skill after 19 years, not wanting to play around like Vader does with Luke in TESB. They were in constant check in the original. Watch some matches between old Kendo masters and you will see similarities.
Fardawg
The difference here is that the Force allows you to see what your opponent is going to do before that do it.
The point of the flash moves is to become unpredictable, when you’re a whirling vortex of burning plasma blade it becomes a lot easier to break the concentration of your enemy while maintaining your own concentration (that’s the key to the precognition aspect of the force, sustained mental fortitude).
Realistic? Dude, Star Wars is soooo fiction xd they’re Jedis, not ordinary people
Been waiting for y’all to react to it, and it’s finally here!! 👏👏👏⚔️⚔️⚔️. The reimagined lightsaber dueling between Vader and Kenobi puts a smile on my face, but canon wise, Obi wan is slow as he watched and observed, etc. but regardless, I really love the fast pace of the duel, overall.
Nick Fletcher. Indeed
4:45 every reaction video to this has this pause moment right here. that was perfect editing after such an intense moment. the audience needed to pick their jaws up and take a deep breath
Had a feeling I would see this reaction today :)
Just goes to show that the fans can fix any Star Wars movie, if thats the only way things are going to get fixed.
This guy deserves to choreograph lightsaber battles
That was beautiful!
Who did this... please do more!
YES was waiting for this
Really cool. I prefer the original but you gotta appreciate talent
How is it that this small group of people can track Obi-Wans face with limited 40+ year old materials in this GREAT scene, but Justice League couldn't erase a mustache?
Probably using deep fake technology using other angles of the actor's face to track a full and realistic one. It is really impressive either way.
This is why I like adywans, it keeps a more intense fight but still retains the spirt of the original
hey guys, darth patriot here, as a kendo teacher and a serious star wars fan, I noticed they added a kendo move when darth vader does his final blow. its perfect. as he is a samuri lol I was impressed that they put that in there.
Can you react to the Watchmen Teaser trailer?
Your wish has been granted.
My only real problem with the scene was the COMPLETE tonal shift in the music. They went from the added haunting choral music---where Vader kills Kenobi---to the original score when Luke screams "No!"
Yeah, it's a nitpick and I still think this was AMAZING.
To see the way your faces light upwhen the fight starts....I see myself in you!
Watching since 77.
That was awesome 😎
Y'all react to this but still no HeroesFanProductions tributes? Come on guys, his Star Wars videos are amazing! Check them out at some point...unless you've already seen them lol

@@leighanderson5621 Aw, damn! But thanks for letting me know.
It’s a conspiracy
Christopher Nolan and the Russo brothers secretly worked on this together
They did amazing on the reimagined by the fact the were just trying to make the fighting its self better not just how it fitted into the film
The lighting effects and showing of how vader adapted his saber technique to more of brute forece rather that swordsmanship is amazing
I find it funny that these guys are coming to hating on how people fight and fight Styles when I bet none of these people have ever fought with a an edged or bladed weapon
The choreography was good, the snob about Obi’s movement is irrelevant when you have a 800+ year old midget green alien like Yoda flipping around everywhere.
The best idea of this fan-made is the moment when we hear young anakin and obi wan lyrics on Mustafar if you know the reference that's so powerful with the fight
This was not a lightsaber duel; this was 20 years of hate, pain and sorrow being coming out in force.
