Thanks a lot for the review, been looking for a clear explanation on what are the differences in the new range and you guys explained it pretty well. So my choice is the middle range studio 5 monitors.

I've had 1st gen 3.5s for more than a year. Never had any issues with them so far. About a month ago I bought 2nd gen 3.5s. Right (passive) speaker stopped working in standby mode. If I disable standby, right speaker works for some time and then stops. Need to turn speakers off and back on again for the right (passive) speaker to work. Definately either bad design or quality control issue. I saw many complains online about right (passive) speaker not working.

It’s a power saving feature thanks to the eu rules. It goes off after about 40 ish minutes.

    M-Audio BX5 D3's or Presonus Eris Studio 4(.5) Active's?

I got the eris 8 xt's, the left one has had a audible hum/noise since first switching it on, i did not feel it necesarry to replace since it becomes inaudible when playing music, now im looking to upgrade, looking at the new Studio 8's and the pro's, combined with the sub 10. Another option is to go with focal alphas and their sub one.
I like the sound of my current setup, but at the same time im thinking focals might be better QC...anybody have experience with these?

I am thinking of buying speakers, but I would appreciate it if you could help me decide to choose a speaker to listen to music and play games next to my desk in a relatively small room. First, I am not sure if monitor speakers are good for regular music listening. Second, I am thinking of buying PreSonus Eris Studio, either 5 or 8. I am not going to listen too loud, but I am not going to have a woofer, so I am thinking of buying 8 but listening to them at a relatively low volume. What do you think?

Great! Thank you for this valuable information. I'm about to set a really small first home studio for my first own mixes, I'm a beginner/amateur and want to set 500 usd on speakers. I do have a question.
What would be better for that small room at 8 ft x 8 ft?
    - A pair of Eris Studio 8 ?
    - A pair of Eris Studio 5 + Eris Sub 8 ?
    - Maybe save for a better acoustic treatment and getting something cheaper like just a pair of Eris 5 XT ?
I'm already using headphones but get tired easily, DT 1770 Pro. I have a decent DAC with XLR outs ready fo fire. Any comment is welcome.
    Thank you!

Is it possible to connect the Eris Pro Monitors to a AV system like the Sony AZ5000ES, to its Pre Outs?

You can easily check the output of that Sony product and the inputs of Eris. Just check it yourself.

Problem with the first gen 3.5s is the 130hz bump. I'm curious if it's fixed in the 2nd gen 3.5s? The 130hz bump is really annoying.

    No hard questions were asked.
Do they still hiss your ears off?
    Has the build quality improved?
Why Sub Out wasn't added? It's almost 2024, etc.
Thank God they paid you to ask bullshit questions no one asked for.
