In this interview, Arshan goes to New York to meet up with probably the most requested guest on our entire platform, Weiland, also known as Gavin Weiland. Weiland is an artist from Tampa, Florida who made a buzz around 2016 with his Pluggnb sound, alongside other artists such as Summrs, Autumn + more (and producers like Xangang). Weiland first became know for his social media personality. He was often seen posting pictures and videos of him with guns and other weapons, including a rocket launcher, as well as having an autotune implant. Through the years he became really popular in the underground scene until he took a long hiatus after his self titled project and completely changed up his entire look and sound. His music stopped having trap elements and a Pluggnb sound, and instead, a lot more electronic and dance. Weiland has not done interviews and has not spoken on why he took this hiatus or did a full 180 switch with his sound and look. Arshan caught up with him to get Weiland to explain this, share his thoughts on the underground scene (Yeat, Summrs, Autumn), how he met his new producer Fish, how Kanye and Daft Punk inspired his new sound, working closely with Mike Dean, being signed to VictorVictor, his single “Heart Stop”, his upcoming single “Blaming Myself”, and his upcoming long awaited album, “VICES”. We also asked about his meeting with Pop Smoke and some questions that you guys, the fans, had for him. Kids Take Over is based in Vancouver Canada.

i love him
FOREVER A LEGEND. its a shame so many people will hate on his new sound and progression because its not what they're use to from him. He's creating something more than just some classic soundcloud songs. Mike Dean obviously see's something special in this kid, and we're about to find out what it is.
Facts he’s so much better now.
bro stfu nobody cares
Yeah now he’s making generic tame impala type music
I love his new stuff I ain’t mad he changed genres but I would like to see him go back to that sound and bring what he knows now to the plug&b sound and make something absolutely unique
Yea he’s a real SoundCloud/underground pioneer, all of us that come from that owe him for helping pave the lanes
I respect him a lot for not being afraid to branch out from the underground sound, a lot of people will hate it and want him to stay the same.
Big respect for him.
@@KidsTakeOver Heart Stop was my favorite song by Weiland too bro, props for that
there is no “underground sound” underground is just not being mainstream, u can make mainstream sounding music n still be underground

When weiland said “my ideas are sometimes beyond the budget” I felt that so hard
Such a cold and true thing to say

this interview lowkey almost made me cry, its like watching your fav cousin or best friend after years become something bigger than themselves, just being honest and inspirational
as a person, weiland’s a testament to what can happen when you stay humble, become self-aware & grow. looking forward to how he’ll evolve even more as an artist
