A Nikkah or Nikah is the Islamic marriage ceremony, whereby the Muslim couple legitimise their marriage in the eyes of God by signing the marriage contract in the presence of an imam and at least 2 witnesses.
This only happens when the couple officially says “I accept.” It's a Prophetic tradition and the only permissible way that a man and woman can be married.
During the Nikah ceremony, the couple has to agree to the mahr, which is a gift of money given to the bride. However, these days during modern times, the ring can be used as the mahr or it can be what the bridge prefers. For instance, jewellery, land, or some form of education.
This Nikah or Nikkah happened in the islands of Trinidad and Tobago in a backyard ceremony to very close family and friends a couple days after the main Catholic church ceremony.
The groom flew his mother and sister from India, to attend the week long festivities in Trinidad he had not seen them in 6 years since he now lives in Canada.
