Body Snatchers ‘78 is considered now to be one of the best remakes of all time. The ending is truly terrific.

The 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers is one of the remakes that arguably surpasses the original in quality. It’s an awesome movie that deserves a place next to Alien and the Thing as one of the best sci-horror movies ever made.

I remember renting it on Halloween. Me and a buddy wanted to see the original but the local video store only had a copy of the 70s version. I was super bummed because it had a bunch of stars I knew yet I’d never even heard there had been a remake, this was before the 90s version, so I was sure it sucked. Anyway obviously we rented it anyway and it blew us both away, I’m so glad I got to experience it cold the ending especially.p

My parents took me to this release of "Pinnochio" when I was 4 years old. It was magic. The same year, they took me to "Star Wars", which was still in theaters. It was a great time to grow up.

These guys talking “Pinocchio” really becomes a high point of this broadcast. Even as an adult, I still have a few Walt Disney nostalgia in me, especially when I remember watching that movie, a handful of times. It sure taught me not to smoke, not to constantly tell lies, and also not to get involved with marionette shows, Pleasure Island (that Lampy sure got what he deserved!), or mess with large whales, like Monstro.
Good memories, especially from the first few years of Walt Disney and his staff.

i grew up in this time i dont know how the hell i have no memory of "California Suite", i had NO idea Cosby and Pryor had done a film together. usually when i see any Neil Simon film on here they absolutely tear it to shreds, they went a little easy this time.
i cant help it i love the "Any Which Way/Every Which Way" films, they are personal favorites and at the time i was a kid growing up in Oklahoma and my father worked at a truck stop out in the country and the neighborhoods in it reminded me of my neighborhood and the people reminded me of the people i was growing up around. not so much the biker gang but just the people frequenting the bar he goes to looked like the people who hung around the truck stop. so i always liked those movies and now they have a nostalgia for me on top of that.
there has got to easily be ten versions of Body Snatchers between film and TV, for me the 70s version is THE version and i think it is one of the all time best remakes it is a classic. and i was not a kid thot got scared by movies but that ending scene always freaked the absolute s*** out of me. the legendary "Alien" didnt freak me out, this movie freaked me out and that dog still gives me the creeps.
HA they are complaining about all the remakes and sequels that year.
i dont even know what to say, thinking of todays Disney versus classic Disney, just sad.

Gene says that, regarding the motorcycle gang members in Every which way but loose, a bunch of 50 year old men who look like they belong in a bowling alley, not on motorcycle bikes.
When he was still alive, has Gene seen any motorcycle gang members in real life? Thats exactly what many of them looked like!

"California Suite" is a terrific film. The Pryor-Cosby segment is the least successful, but the others are all great, especially the Maggie Smith-Michael Caine one. Interesting to hear Roger call Neil Simon one of America's best comedy writers since he has panned nearly every one of Simon's films ("Simonized" dialogue, I believe he once wrote). They said nobody talks so witty in real life - oh, yeah? Spend a few hours with me after a couple of martinis.

One thing that really angered me about Disney is the fact that they will release one of their classics on DVD for something like 3-4 weeks, then take it off the market for another 7 years. And THEN, it will be "FIRST TIME ON 2-DVD!" Not a first release, the first time it was released on a 2-DVD set! And they didn't really add anything that warranted it being on 2 discs. That's a celebration?!!
This is what happened when The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh (Dr Syn) was released several years ago costing about $35, and Amazon now sells copies (if you can find them) for ten times that cost! Seriously!

_Pinocchio (1940)_ in this 1978 release was one of the few Disney films Mom took me to as a child. I guess back in the day, they kept them in the vault and brought them out every 7-10 years (1945, 1954, 1962, 1971, 1978, 1984 and 1992). It says they made $26.4 million at theaters in 1984, and another $10-12 million by releasing it on VHS for $80 that year.

After starring on one of the biggest shows in TV history, he starred in movies and other shows pretty much consistently ever since, and now does whatever he feels like doing. We should all be so fortunate to have our careers "downgraded" to PBS contributor in our late 80s. 😄

I just finished California Suite I reviewed it on my letterboxd called CinemaEscape. A waste of time the only good part was richard pryor and Bill " the rapist" Cosby, i liked how an airplane looked back then in the seventies how they watched a movie on a plane, was great to see in terms of history, and i wish the conversation was great between micheal caine, and the girl whos old in harry potter young here, cause i liked look of the suit and tie and drinking a martini and we knows where that was, but that was bad conversation i ever heard, i would take laurel and hardy with richard and bill anytime over this movie, yeah its sad to see that, but i didnt get that out of this dont agree with their review of this movie, i gave it a 1/2 no stars on letterboxd. I think from this list of movies i would check out invasion of the body snatched franchise, and pinocchio. client working with monkey is not good but maybe would like to check it out.
