Who's scarier, Angry Rapunzel or Angry Astrid (from HTTYD)?
I like that, although she is super positive and never gives up on hoping, she's allowed to be angry. We get female characters like Cassandra who are allowed to show anger but overall, she's much more 'boyish', she dislikes dresses, is bold, skilled at fighting, short hair, there are lots more characters like her in modern media which is great. But to see a more feminine character like Rapunzel (sure, she's not as dainty as the older princesses- choosing to go barefoot, get messy, misses social cues and look for adventure- but she is polite, hopeful and wears typically more feminine clothes) get to show anger in this way and not have it seen as negative or 'bossy' is a severely overlooked part of her character and the movie/ series (Because she's like this in the movie too, don't forget. 'Did I mumble mother?' will always be brilliant)

People forgot how mad Astrid used to get as well. She literally smacked Tuffnut on the head with a skeleton hand in the HTTYD TV series for scaring her and Hiccup out of their wits in a nasty prank. Rapunzel probably would have simply smacked him with the pan over and over.

When a character is known to be happy and calm they don't show anger easily. If they do, they would have to be REALLY angry so it just seems a lot more effective

Mandy Moore is fantastic as Rapunzel! Sadly, my first experience with her in acting was A Walk To Remember, which is my least favorite movie despite being adapted from my favorite Nicholas Sparks novel. Of course, here she's allowed to shine, especially with the great storytelling of both the movie and series.
