    TIP:on waiting room. If you select waiting room (instead of requiring passcode) this will allow you to admit students from the waiting room then when you're ready to start teaching the class, you can change it to admit students automatically by going to the Participants side bar and selecting More then uncheck "enable waiting room". This is helpful if you have students who show up late and you won't be able to see them from your mat, they will be able to enter automatically. One more thing - it's Spotlight you want to select to view and record whoever is spotlighted vs. Pin is only for that device and doesn't affect what others see or what it recorded.

    You are so helpful Ashley, and the way you explain gives me more confidence. Thank you very much!
    I would love to find a solution to manage the music at the same time I teach, like I do in presence. I always play the music with my cellphone, and stop it when needed, and play it again when needed. I can't imagine an online Kundalini Yoga class without music. And I don't want to go to the computer to often check the shared music via Zoom and play it/stop it ...
    But because for the sound healings I record, I have an external audio interface, I will try to use it next to me with another mic which get the music from the cellphone. I will see if it works well...

    hey ash! thanks for another amazing tutorial! I've been teaching hybrid classes quite successfully now these last two weeks. I have the latest rode microphone set up with 2 mikes - but I can't get the music right. I was using one microphone up by my speaker.... but it's too choppy and too loud with volume set to high (set to med was too low for my voice). I note here you suggest using the share screen button for music - is that right?

    I just happened to stumble into a question I didn't even come here to get answered! At 34:50, when you say to check HD setting, what would you mean by "have to have good wifi" specifically? I live rurally and while we get good speeds, they sometimes falter for a few seconds or minutes. This works with regular setting Zoom, but wondering what kind of risk I'm taking if I move over to that settings. Thank you.

    • @AshleyHagen

      I usually do. But it only flips the view for me, so I don't look awkward when I'm teaching. It doesn't matter for the viewers or for the recording, though. They will not see mirrored view.

    Thanks for all the tips, really helpful. Is there a way to create better files when saving Zoom classes on the cloud? Im using a 4k camera to transmit but no matter what I do, files are only 640x360 and its so frustrating.

    • @AshleyHagen
      @AshleyHagen  Před 2 lety +1

      Honestly, no. Not that I know of. And I haven't not heard of any better way, either. It's such a bummer. You'd think Zoom would come up with some sort of option, even if it was an additional paid feature. I think the quality is a little better if you save them to your computer rather than the cloud. But I stopped using the Zoom recording function for yoga videos. I'll use it for presentations and coaching calls, where the video quality is not important.

    Hi Ash, I am very new to teaching online, Iv been practicing with a few of my students.
    This has been very helpful thank you, when you play music from your computer, does the music need to be downloaded from CZcams or Spotify first?
    My students can’t hear my music. I found that it was because I was on a notebook rather than a laptop, but even though I am on a laptop I am still experiencing the same issue. 🧘🏼

    • @AshleyHagen
      @AshleyHagen  Před 3 měsíci +1

      No, it doesn't need to be downloaded. Share your screen using the advanced tab and choose "computer audio" and it should play though. But you will need to adjust and play with the volume settings. I have a more recent video on that somewhere.

    why zoom over meets? I've been told meets is way easier only bc you just email out your meets link to emailing list and go.

    • @AshleyHagen
      @AshleyHagen  Před rokem

      I actually don't ever email out anything. I use a software that automatically generates new Zoom links for every class or event when people register. It ensures people have to register for the class even if it's free, I collect new email addresses daily and it's just easy. I find that most people are very familiar with Zoom now-a-days. If you want to use meets (as in, Google meet?) and it works for you, then I think it's a great option.
      This tutorial specifically is for those who want to use Zoom.

      Join local Facebook groups. Discover the pain points and problems of your ideal students and talk about it. Collaborate with like-minded teachers. Get yourself in front of your audience, give value, and have a clear call-to-action and easy sign up process. There are a lot of ways to get people to join. It does take time and effort. Consistency is really the key, and to fight the urge to give up when you aren't seeing immediate results.
