The scariest part about the fatalities is the fact that most of the fatalities still barely leave the character alive until the final blow/slo-mo sequence.
One thing I'm puzzled about is how they ensured that each character's fatality works with every other character. 37 x 37 = 1369 different character combinations they'd need to check and possibly make custom gibs for, and that doesn't even count different skins. Each skin would need a custom model for each way it could be destroyed. Each character has slightly different proportions (some with more than 2 arms) so you can't just play the animation and expect impact points to line up right. Color me impressed, even though the subject matter is kind of fucked.

Each skin would need a custom model for each way it could be destroyed. Each character has slightly different proportions (some with more than 2 arms) so you can't just play the animation and expect impact points to line up right.

@@taskmaster_india9294 Yeah, though the scaling issues with these fatalities relate more to the labor involved. I'm guessing they just set things up so that most content could be reused for different fatalities.

animation in no biggie bc they used motion capture for it..and the blood splash is kinda same in every fatality...
Probably why everybody has basically the same body. No more Goro, Motaro etc. I'm guessing they all had to be the same basic shape.

My guess is that a lot of things are procedural, or at least that's how I'd do it. For example, one way is to model the insides and use transparency masks for holes and stuff, this is how Wolverine's wounds and their healing was made possible in the game X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Inverse Kinematics is used for this exact purpose.
