I enjoyed learning some fun facts about your library. I get DVDs from the library too. It's convenient to watch newer or hard to find on streaming platforms movies and shows. Nice tag!
My library no longer charges fines. They had a negative impact on kids, especially in foster care. We aren't here to be gatekeepers. Numbers wise we had a 2% increase in late items. The honor system works.

It was such a blast! Yes, be sure to visit the free exhibits at the main branch and Lincoln Center next time you visit. They always do such a great job and the “Treasures” exhibit is outstanding.
My library used to charge $1.00/day for late returns on DVDs and video games. Since I had two young kids at the time, we had racked up some fees, lol. My library stopped doing late fees after reopening post pandemic.
Nice! I'm a little jealous. The library system out here where I dwell consists of far flung corrugated tin shelters with pack mules transporting books and DVDs along the windswept passes between them. Okay, I exaggerate, but not by as much as you might think. 😔 But in all seriousness, I miss the old-timey card catalogues. And I have no idea why. They were terrible. 🤔

Very random but I just saw an article about NY botanical garden putting on an Alice in Wonderland exhibit over the summer and thought of you, could be a fun one to make it to if you weren't aware of it.
This is a fun tag! I saw Pat's, too. I have never been to the NY Public Library but would love to visit to see the building and all those amazing exhibits. We still sometimes watch DVDs, too :) Though we haven't borrowed any from the library in years, since our sons were younger, so thanks for the reminder! There are some movies we've been wanting to see that are exclusive to streaming channels we don't get.

I’ve loved libraries since I was a kid. About 75% of the books I read are from the library! You can’t beat free books. Such an important resource!

Here in Philly, we have libraries everywhere. Many were built by Andrew Carnegie. They also offer free books that are culled from their collection.

As a kid, I thought we were supposed to take the card from the catalogues to help us find our books. 😬
