I wouldn't change the panels, the extra moldings could end up making the walls overly busy compared to how they look now with their beautiful simplicity. They're gorgeous as they are.
Such a lovely home! But donât those carved moldings youâre considering belong in another style of home than yours? The simplicity of the English paneling is so beautiful as is. Such a wonderful property!
If you want my humble opinion, I think the wall is stunning as it is. If you add the moldings, it may look too much. But Iâm sure youâll make the right decision â€ïž
I agree Sabrina!
I agree too they look beautiful as they are â€ïž
I agree
Also, not the right period for the house
I agree, there is something beautiful about the simplicity of the original paneling.
Josie this home is such a treat, in my humble opinion having worked in interior design, I usually encourage my clients to live in their new home at least 6 months before making any structural or major design changes because youâll come to understand how you live in the space better and make more informed decisions as well! As for the mouldings, they are beautiful but are not in keeping with the style of the home or the period, in this case less is more and youâre so lucky the previous owner did such a fabulous job restoring this property and keeping everything perfectly in line with the historical integrity of the home!
The mouldâs are lovely, personally I donât think theyâre in keeping with a 14th century English home. A lot of bloggers are succumbing to this latest trend, but not many have a house like yours sweetie x
I would love to see you preserve the era of your home.
Donât mess with that gorgeous paneling! New mounding never looks as authentic and youâre so lucky to have the original. Too many bloggers adding too much paneling to get your already authentic look! Enjoy it.
Totally! Agree!
AMEN. This comment is the TRUTH. Your home has real authentic features. It doesnât need anything faux. đŻ Your house will be starting and leading trends- NOT following faux houses/ new builds.
NO extra trim work is necessary, Josie. If you add more detail, it will look cluttered and negatively impact the classic lines of the molding already in place. You have a very classic and proper residence - DO consult with a competent interior designer before you make changes you could live to regret. We have a coarse saying in the U.S. which is apt to your circumstance; "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
As a retired interior designer and professional organizer I have been very entertained by your move-in and beautiful home. If I may make a suggestion, the moldings may look like a good idea right now, but you are making the decision in an empty room. I know it may seem counterproductive to wait until you have furniture, accessories and art in the room, but I think you will find that once you do, the moldings will be too much. Just picking out the inner edge of the panels in white or gold, would give that French look without overpowering the panels. I would also suggest moving your sofa away from the wall in your family room and placing your cocktail ottoman (a large one) in front of the sofa and two upholstered chairs directly opposite the sofa. Float your furniture in the room, rather than placing them next to walls and the effect will be more cozy and conversational rather than a large empty field of carpet in the middle. If you do this though, be sure to place ALL legs of the furniture completely on the rug, or off.... not halfway as it makes a rug look like it has shrunk. This way, your sofa, ottoman and two chairs frame your best architectural feature in the room: the stunning fireplace. A smaller slipper chair and side table can always be placed where you currently have the chair by the window as the room size would more than accommodate it. I hope this gives you food for thought...but after all is said and done, it is YOUR home and will of course reflect your beautiful style.
You really know your stuff. I agree completely with your advice.
Great advise đđ»
Totally agree with your advice!
Great advice and you clearly understand the house.
This is the most sound advice I have seen on this site you are clearly very knowledgeable love your ideas hope Josie reads this
Sometimes you canât improve on perfection. The panels being just that - and the mouldings, not necessary. Itâs delightful just the way it is! đ
I completely agree! It's already perfection!
Hi Josie, definitely no on the moldings for the pink room. You can achieve a feminine and light decor through your furnishings and fabrics without losing the English-ness that goes with the house. In addition, imo, if both you and Charlie are going to be using the room, please consider that an overly-feminine environment makes it appear like the gentleman does not live there. As I mentioned in a previous comment, the house is quintessentially English like you and Charlie and the aesthetic of its period is not ornate. Really enjoying the home content!
Your house is absolutely incredible! I think the panels are perfect the way they are.
Please donât tart up that beautiful paneling with those moldings! The simplicity of the existing paneling is elegant and gorgeous. Adding those tacky, anachronistic moldings will turn a beautiful classic English manor house into a Disney French Princess cartoon. If you want to add moldings anywhere in your beautiful home, please consult a proper expert, a historical architect, before you choose anything. That said, I am loving your videos featuring your beautiful new home, perhaps more than your fashion ones.
Learn With Me why, whoever do you mean? đđđ
@Learn With Me I hope you know you are mean!
@Learn With Me you are mean and pretty sad if I have to be honest. You are writing mean comments about a girl who is just singing a random song online on another person video under a random comment. And what about Sofia? How is her "job" related to a girl singing a song? Really, grow up. Freddy is not a singer and she just wanted to sing a song she liked. I can't stand frustrated people like you.
@Learn With Me Let me first start out by saying Sofia ain't that great whether it's the voluntary work or paradise hotel. Secondly I very much don't see the point of discussing another woman's taste in interior on Josie's video. Please return to the gossip thread you came from and continue to hate Freddy there â€â€
Jessica Matarrel
Just no with the moulding. Too much.
There is literally nothing at ANY ANGLE that isn't photogenic in your new "humble" abode. Everything is magazine cover ready. Beyond stunning. đ
blondie mattie I agree, the whole house and gardens are so photogenic! But I wouldnât call a ÂŁ2 million property âhumbleâ đ.
Clearly not a "humble abode"
Ainoha EA I think she was being sarcastic, hence the quotation marks.
@@blueshoes915 exactly!!! đ
Apothecary jars and antique/vintage perfume bottles would look absolutely beautiful in that exquisite cabinet in your .bathroom
Instead of the stucco elements, I would rather paint the room pink and paint the inner edges of the panels white or gold. That would be more subtle and neutral.
Stucco could possibly be attached to the top edges as a narrow strip along the ceiling. That would be sufficient and does not appear overloaded.
Andrea Pirringer YES to the inner edges in gold and NO molding
Yes to the gold edges...very Versailles.
The panels are great as they are you are mixing 2 styles the panels are quite shaker looking and thick the trim is delicate PLEASE DONT DO IT LEAVE IT AND JUST PAINT it also dies not go with the rest of the house xxx hope this helps !
Ohhh I was literally counting the minutes for this! Your videos are the best thing of this quarantine! đđđ
Adding mouldings would be like âgilding the lilyâ the panels are beautiful in their simplicity and with the age of the house x
The house is simply elegant as it is, the moulding will be garish, IMHO.
The paneling looks amazing as it is. Pls, don't add anything to it. Your house is so beautiful.
Lovely as always. I want to know where that door goes. Actually all the doors. You will definitely keep us coming back. I think more molding might overwhelm the room, it is so lovely and that pink is beautiful. In the family room, think about pulling the sofa out from the wall so the front legs are on the rug. Pulling some things away from walls can warm up a room. Or not. Is there a single dull corner on your property. Nope.
The existing panels look lovely as they are without any other panelling. The room is so beautiful and will look different once you have added the furniture.
Just say no to the moldings. They don't fit the style of the house. Listen to the house a while longer and it will let you know it's true nature. Love the pink slipper paint and maybe you could find just the right shade of rose gold paint to paint the strip around each paneling. Would give just a bit of sparkle to a lovely shade of pink! Love to the Doxies!!
I donât like the moulding itâs gonna be too busyđ€ but itâs your home my dearđ
The moulding would be soooo wrong.
I love the panels as they are đ
you should share the cabinet with Charlie, give him his shelf , he could put his colognes in there!
great idea. He could put lovely colognes in it and perhaps a wooden box to hold his other toiletries. It would seen fair. If not this idea, then a lovely wooden box on the window sill that could hold his toiletries.
Agree with Charlie that the trim, beautiful as it is, may be too much with paneling. A pale, distressed French stencil, really muted, might be lovely?
I was thinking that too xxx
The room doesn't need the moulding. I think from the comments section that seems to be the consensus. I think less is more here. I'm really enjoying seeing your new home vlogs â€ïž
Your house is like living in a fairytale! The yard, the gardens, the circular drive, the house speaks for itself! Congratulations to you both! đ
The comments on the molding are killing me. đ€Ł So I may as well add my two cents. I'm with them. đ»
I would not change the paneling. In a grade 2 home, don't you have to get the planning commissions permission to change things?
Your antique cabinet in the bathroom is lovely! Charlie needs to find a closed cabinet for himself. Definitely! Absolutely! đ
Maybe he could have the drawer. I get the visual aspect of wanting to display pretty things, but taking the drawer too is a bit much.
Your house is the most beautiful dream. Iâd keep the panelling as it is. I think the ornate panelling is a bit of a trend at the moment... I donât know.
The panels alone look really nice and I can imagine when you paint them light pink, this room is going to be lovely. Looking forward to the reveal and what you finally decided! I'm enjoying your moving vlogs, my relaxation after work :)
Donât add the mouldings you will change the style ... itâs enough already
Love the new home!! So happy for you n Charlie n the sweet dogs.I wish all the happiness in the world. I work in a hospital so looking at your videos make me feel better. Have a great week.
Oh please reconsider those mouldings which in my humble opinion would destroy the absolute classic beauty of that glorious panelling . With all due respect those mouldings are quite ghastly / tacky and completely unessessary , quite frankly surprised you are considering. . The house is absolutely stunning . The previous owner renovated it to such a superbly high standard with impeccable taste. Am sure you'll consider very carefully any changes you make .. as the new intelligent custodians of this historical home you accepted that responsibility when you fell in love understandably with its impressive and outstanding beauty . Congratulations btw. on your unique gorgeous new home.
I have been watching all your new house and moving vlogs over the past few days. What a treat! As my husband and I are seniors we are having to stay home during this terrible time so your videos are giving me hope for a better future. I am from England but live in Canada, and the Cotswalds are somewhere I have always wanted to visit. I look forward to you taking all your fans on tours of the countryside when your country opens up again! I wish you both lots of happiness and peace in your wonderful new home. You work so hard so it is great that you have this marvellous place to unwind in. On the subject of mouldings, less is better and classier, classy like you my dear!đđšđŠ
Personally I would leave the panelling as it is as I think it would be too much x love all your videos đ
I think the paneling is fine as it is and the mouldings would look to much but the house is beautiful đâ€
Gosh Josie your house is STUNNING! We are so happy for you. How are the dogs settling into the new house? We hope one day to be as successful as you!! Much love â€ïžxxx
"Boy stuff is just not pretty!" (tee-hee, so true!). Faux flowers on the top shelf would be lovely.
I think the extra moldings in the Pink Room may be too much. Could consider keeping a contrasting color on the sides of the panel as is there now, changing to a color such as white or ivory with the ballet pink as the main color.
It would be too much do not add the molding. Sometimes less is more but it is your house. Why donât you live with the panel room for a little while. You may change your mind about adding it. You donât have to make every decision today.
I have adored your panelling, please do not add the mouldings I really do think it's so beautiful already!!! đđđđ. You have the original look that is amazing so why make it look cheap and copy looking.....
First of all, the moldings sent to you are not meant to be stand-alone, but corner pieces to be connected to straight pieces. They are also too "chunky", and certainly not appropriate to the style and "feel'" of your house. Perhaps a narrow, gold, carved inside addition to the panel frames, but I believe even this will look inappropriate to the existing simple frames and diminish the superb restoration of your home. Go slowly!!
Oh Dolly!!! That WC is to die for. I can imagine just laying in the bath with heaps of bubbles, candles everywhere listening to a the four season by Vivaldi or Swan lake on a lovely vintage record player.. A glass of Rose or yummy tea... The two of you have worked so hard and you are so so blessed. Iâm going to sit here in the States and live vicariously through you. .
Me too! I desire an island in the front drive, but I would love a large fountain that has lights at night with possible low profile structured boxwoods and flowers around the base, but a lovely urn island is just as lovely. Your color palette ideas are so beautiful.
Josie, some fragrances and body lotions from Penhalighon's would look lovely in your bathroom cabinet. Or get some lovely old looking Victorian bottles and decant some lovely things into them......sorry how many times have I said lovely there! đ x
Was waiting for this video, thank you Josie! You are such a hardworking lovely and genuine lady and you are my favourite youtube influencerđđ
I agree with everyone else. The moldings are not in keeping with the house. In choosing your paint color, please keep in mind the color of your flooring and the light coming in.
None of the mouldings, please itâs not the correct feature for the period of the property
Wow, all those beautiful blooms, stunning đžđ
Beautiful video! I agree with others, no to extra mouldings as the room looks absolutely picture perfect as it is. X
No moulding way too fussy. Will cheapen your beautiful room.
Those mounding would be gorgeous ; a channel here did it on the YT did it to their home is turned out gorgeous !, (hundred of Thousands agreed)! Will try and find a link so you can see it . Most people initially dislike something because they canât envision it . I see your vision for the room and I know it will be magical.Canât wait to see it !
Itâs amazing to see how respectful and caring the comments and suggestions are on your channel. I think itâs because of the tone you set in all your work! Love to read the advice of the pro interior designers offering their suggestions, too. Well done đ
Such a magical property and I will enjoy your journey in transforming this space to an amazing home.
I totally agree with some of the other comments..youâve got a beautiful unique gem..let it shine and sparkle...donât cloud its appearance!
I think the panelling in that room is already v.detailed and in keeping to the house. I think it looks stunning as it is âșïž. Congratulations, such a beautiful house.
It's so sweet to see you and Charlie building your castle. It looks like something out of a fairytale. Very, very happy for you both and the pups.
I love the topiary trees in the background! They add an element of fantasy!
I am a subscriber that hasnât watched your videos for a while (or CZcams so not personal) and just discovered youâre new home and moving vlogs and omg I AM BACK and catching up on all your videos. House is so stunning canât wait to see what you do with it all! X
Hannah & Sam thank you and welcome back!
Hi Josie, just wanted to say that I have been loving for your moving vlogs! You, Charlie and you dogs deserve this so much, and I am amazed to see how far your channel has come!
I keep refreshing the youtube homepage waiting for your new video.
I've been doing that as well.
Peonies seem to be your signature flower, because you light up whenever there are peonies in the room.
Hi Josie I am from Miami, Florida and to be quite honest from all the bloggers you are the one most excited to see your blog loved your house so enchanting it makes me forget all is going in the world today it gives me peace. Thank you and Charlie for sharing.
Maybe if you put a pretty box in your bathroom cabinet and Charlie could keep his things in there â€ïž or give him the drawer
I am loving your videos! I personally love your panelling as it is. Classic and elegant. Love your style so whatever you choose will be beautiful.
Pretty. How many rooms does your home actually have? We Anglophiles want to know these important details! I live in a 1200 square foot ranch built in 1955. Luckily it was bricked later with bricks that were originally street paving in the next town over. They are worn and have all kinds of marks on them. If the house burns or blows away in a tornado, Iâm gonna salvage those bricks to use again. Thatâs as close as I get to your medieval home! Love always!
OMG - so funny to see several comments against the (French!) moldings, which were lovely of course - but your landsmen may be right in this department, Josie! I'm just a Finn, living in the States for years now.... but love seeing all this Englishness!
Hi Josie. The house is beginning to look like a home. But most important we can tell both of you are living your dream. How exciting!!! Stay safe.
The panelling is beautiful the way it is as they say less is more but if you like the mouldings and they make you happy then have them . Love the colour pink itâs beautiful đ
Iâm enjoying all of your videos and seeing how happy you are , itâs uplifting to see Xx
..really look forward to your moving vlogs !! Lovely new homeđ
I am enjoying your vlogs so very much! I feel like I'm transported into a most magical world as I watch the transformation! So uplifting!
Think you should leave the paneling as it is..I love the pale pink and think a sage green colour sofa will go lovely with the pink ...they have these colours together in Laura ashley Show room looks stunning
The pink room will look so good. I love everything in your house right now.
Chimney pillows may help stop the draughts. It did in my previous house. Loving your new content mix.
I like the wall as is afraid it will be to busy with all the other molding....
Dearest Josie... I own and operate a company of 65 employees AND am in the process of setting up a second home in the Caribbean... YET I have put thought into the pink room FOUR times in the last two weeks, because I am La Decorateur at heart! Ha!
You have several rooms with original paneling... and therefore, you should MOST CERTAINLY sacrifice the pink room to the decorating Gods.... and get the extra moldings! It will be soooo YUMMY! And yes... it will be OTT. That's the point!! Go for it!!!!! You know you want it.... and you deserve it.
To my opinion, the original panels is good as it is. Truly you have a beautiful manor I should say. Canât wait to see your garden in spring/summer will be awesome. đđ»đđ»đ
sorry to add another downer, just seen the cabinet in the bathroom, I think what with the moulding and the cabinet, your house could end up looking like a french chateau
Bless your heart. . .Iâm enjoying your home vlogs, Josie. Youâre both accomplishing so much in such a short period of time. Kudos to you both!!!!!
Simplicity is always best. Use accessories for layering and details. The mouldings are lovely but your room is lovely on its own. Donât complicate it with those - spend money on a beautiful mirror to catch that light and even expand the space more.
Lovely home Josie & Charlie. Congratulations. Enjoy.
Oh i do quite love the moulding with the little bit Of flowersâŠeither one with make the paneling pop!
Hi Josie, your new home is gorgeous. Watching your little sausage dogs makes me miss my little guy so much. He passed earlier this year. So 2020 has just been a horrible year and being in the middle of a pandemic. It's really nice to watch your videos. Your such a lovely person well you both are really. Thank y'all for sharing your life with us. Bless you both. And those sweet sweet sausage dogs.
Marla New Iâm so so sorry for your baby xxx
Hiya, once again it gives me such joy to see a day in your life. I have sadly had some extreme circumstances over the years of suffering a lot of losses and sadly lost my dogs which were German Shepherds. It gives me almost an addictive watch to see how you are creating your knew beautiful life. I am finding self isolation alone quite difficult. And I feel have not made some good decisions for my life. So it gives me joy to watch yours and fellow vloggers creating theres.
Bless you all ...Marie xxxđđ
Iâve been binge watching your moving vlogs!! Oh my Iâm in love with your house, itâs beautiful!!! Love the kitchen and that masterâs bathroom is to die for đ„°
Josie & Charlie and your puppies! Thanks for your uplifting videos. Anything you two do is fun.
Also regarding Charlies shelf in the bathroom, it's his home too, maybe you could buy some pretty bottles to decant his stuff in to then it would still look pretty?
Josie the walls are perfect for the period of the house so beautiful I really wouldnât change anything maybe just fresh paint the previous owner got the house so right the floors bathroom kitchen itâs just so stunning but itâs your house and you should do what you think is right just donât rush itâs your forever home so you have time to really think it through and not regret a rushed decisions sure it will be fantastic .stay safe â€ïž
Antique perfume bottles would look gorgeous in the bathroom cabinet! As would folded towels with lavender sprigs etc
The walls are absolutely perfect as is, no moldings needed. You have a beautiful home đ
Iâm absolutely loving these vlogs Josie , your home and garden is looking beautiful đ
No on the extra moldings. I think it would be too much in an English 14th century home. But I think a beautiful window shade and matching drapes (or other window decor) and matching bed covering would be lovely as well as keeping out the winter chill. A patterned fabric with that pink wall color and a darker pink with a grey green in a design you love would be very pretty. I think the pale pink color will work beautifully in this room and give you a psychological hug when you walk in.
You could give Charlie a pretty box to put his things in in the cabinet and that way you wouldn't see his stuff đ
The videos you posted this month are so beautiful with your new house and organizing. I wish you all the best in your new lovely home. And future videos with the two of you cooking or arranging the garden and the house will be nice to watch. Of course, along with your beautiful outfits đđđ and fashion & beauty tips.
I look foward to this everyday! Its a treat. You and Charley are hard workers together.
Josie, you are such an inspiration! đ How much you have achieved and yet how humbled you are đ€ So so happy for you! You make me dream big! Thank youđđ»
