“swapdust” was originally called Dustswap since uh I think since swap was at the end (under”swap”) and tale was put at the end so people said Dustswap, same with felldust, people call it Dustfell, it’s mainly what you prefer., I heard that Dustswap was renamed to Dustswap: butterfly effect, to avoid people being confused I’m guessing.

also, the reason why dusttrust is called Dustswap: dusttrust, back when it was made, swapdust wasn’t a thing.
first there was fellswap and swapfell which was fairly understandable, then now theres this
With FellSwap and SwapFell, it was easier to understand since, well.
FellSwap = Underfell Swapped
SwapFell = Underswap Felled(is that a real word???)
And the reason the Dustswap and Swapdust thing is confusing, is because the OG Dustswap was literally Dusted Underswap, which is simple and easy. And also it makes more sense alongside Dusttale and Dustshift for stuff like Mad Time Trio for example
An easy way to understand that I put it in is it has the personalities of whatever the first name is swapfell has the personalities of underswap but the designs of underfell fellswap has the personalities of underFell but with the fell design

swapdust is basically if papyrus accidently killed sans and accidently became a dustbelief clone and dustswap is basically if swap papyrus decided to do a genocide, also (dusttrust shouldn't be the fusion of dusttale and underswap we already had enough sans on a murder spree)
You reversed them. Think about the order of the names. DustSwap is DustTale getting SWAPPED, i.e. Classic Papyrus getting placed into the role of killing his friends and family. SwapDust is UnderSwap becoming DUSTED, i.e. the events of DustTale happening inside of UnderSwap's universe, a.k.a. Swap Papyrus going on a killing spree. I hope my description made sense.

sans gets injured in battle and he knows that papyrus will do anything his brother tells him to so sans practically brainwashes papyrus into killing everyone with him, its basically like getting jumped by 2 sans'

My favorite moment is when papyrus said "it's swapin' time" and swaped all over the dust.
While I prefer modern AU logic as it at least makes a system for some more complex AU's, like for people who might want to make SwapFellSpin or SpinShiftShift for some crazy unfathomable reason I cannot comprehend...
I don't think it really matters much in the end, as it's just a name, and the people who get salty about modern logic being used or not being used should just do something far simpler and far more convenient, which is just to call it what the owner of the specific AU or AT take wants to call it.
That would solve a lot more problems than just trying to argue over stuff like Dustswap and Swapdust.
SwapFell and FellSwap logic: YOU SHOULD DELETE THIS SH NOW!!!!1!1!1!(no, seriously, those combos makes no sense, still dust swap is basically a dust version if Underswap and Swap Dust is a Swapped version of DustTale, I know it's only SwapFell and FellSwap logic, but in my opinion it still would make it more understandable so you wouldn't get same crack on head like DustSwap sans while trying to understand this...).
I don’t understand why this is confusing for most or why they "don’t accept it", ok for a first time it can be confusing but it’s been at least 2 years since that shift in name meaning happened (which is why dusttrust was callaed dustswap: dusttrust, because it was before, logic) and it’s not even hard to understand, it’s logic yet again:

The "dustswap" mentioned is "Dustswap: butterfly affect" meaning its no longer actually dustswap, dustswap was reverted dusttale Underswap edition but using fanon swap papyrus as its base (no the cringy one, the one that has the same stats and hp as UT sans), where swapdust uses the canon swap papyrus as base. This change happened because D4n was flamed about his au naming scheme (I love underdust!!!!) and eventually left, either way it doesn't matter what's what, the original dustswap (aka Underswap with dust) came out in 2016 and d4n to my knowledge was never given ownship to be able to change all the stuff he did.

It's not cancelled since the ownership was passed to someone else and nah that's canon dustswap via ownership transferring shenanigans and stuff, the whole "DustSwap:The Butterfly Effect" is an alternate title to the original AU like how og Obsessed Monster was 3xDust but the title for it is Dusttale:Obsessed Monster
In other word, swapdust is undertale that are swapped and then dust while dustswap is vice versa. Dust but swapped role

Butterfly Effect was Daniztic's take on "modern Dustswap", but he deleted his deviantart, which is where a good amount of that info was, and made an AU archive to store all that info elsewhere
If you want any info on it, you're most likely going to find it there, so I would look up the archive on Google
Im pretty sure your dustswap is a different AU and dustswap is dusttale+US but dust paps does not have blasters

Nah, logically he has around like 11 HP due to the nature of Snowdin, people concluded he has 1 HP because no matter what we one shot him in the genocide run when we actually hit him, and because of his other stats being 1 ATK and 1 HP, besides that, the game's stats in like the code thingy when you check them aren't canon, but the people who said he had 1 HP obviously didn't know that, so I'd chalk it up to them having 1 braincell in common

I’m tired of all of these swapswapdustfellouterinsanity aus its like people just take something original and slap a label to combine them with other works like it hasn’t been done before. And I know one shouldn’t go off art by it’s name but for gods sake just think of something else instead of just adding another word or switching them around. Why does DustSwap, an AU in UNDERTALE, have SWAP in it. Just call it MirrorDust or something else, because that is just simply bad naming.
