    I could see the R7 being my A camera. I already have the Sigma 18-35mm and 50-100mm f1.8 EF-S lenses. Between that, the 10-bit 4:2:2 oversampled 4K video, the great autofocus, and the long recording times, it checks a lot of boxes for me. I currently have the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II and the Lumix G85, but I have been thinking about parting with the G85 and demoting the E-M1 Mark II to B camera status, at least when it comes to video.

    Hello guys, thanks for the cool video. I bought this camera especially for video, run & gun at weddings. I decided to write this because I saw your opinion on noise of hte sensor and using full hd and C-log3 with noise reduction off I find the camera to be extremlly noisy starting iso200 and up when there is not enough light. So please, what iso value where you using when making this project? I think that at base ISO wich I suppose to be 100 the camera acts well henece it is a photo camera, but at 800 is almost unusable. Waiting your feedback. Thanks!

    • @diegogaona1222
      @diegogaona1222 Před rokem +1

      Base ISO for C-log 3 is actually 800, but at 1080p is still noisy. I recommend you to shoot in 4K Fine. The noise is not a problem in that resolution due to the oversample that the camera does from 7K, which helps to cover the noise. I´d say that in 4K Fine the top limit is ISO 3,200 which is actually pretty good.

    Hi, Loved the video, just asking for some advice... is it better to pick up this camera as a 'proffesional' video/cinema camera to then upgrade to something like r5/r5c or c70 or, buy a black magic pocket 4k/6k and not have to upgrade any further...

    • @TertioFilmDesign
      @TertioFilmDesign Před 2 lety +3

      Since you are just buying this, it will probably be a while before you buy a second camera, realistically. Currently the R5 has been out for two years and the 5 series normally have a 4 year lifespan. Normally. By the time you have funds for another camera, I would either get the R5 cheap for secondhand or wait for the mark II. The price hasn't dropped since released and you're still paying the same price for 2-4year old tech.

    • @Soundstripe
      @Soundstripe  Před 2 lety +3

      If your focus is solely on video content, I would probably recommend getting a true 'cinema' camera like the blackmagic 4k/6k. Since the R7 is marketed as a 'hybrid' camera, meaning it equally focuses on video AND photo quality, its not going to compete with a true cinema camera that focuses solely on video quality (blackmagic has RAW, R7 only shoots in log). However, I WILL say that you will probably always be upgrading your cameras and never just settling on one forever! That being said, of the cameras you listed above my top choices would be the c70 or r5c. So if you prefer to just stay in the canon ecosystem knowing that you'll eventually upgrade to a canon cinema camera, that might be a good path for you! Just know the R7 isnt a true cinema camera, more like a mirrorless hybrid camera with cinematic video qualities!

      Panasonic S1H, considering only R5 and R5C have usable auto focus but the S1H is a true video beast in a small package.

  • @AdolfoD

    Hi guys! I really liked the video. I recently got this camera and I've been in a battle with the noise level on c-log 3 filming in a set with similar illumination as you did. So I was wondering if you could help me with that please. How did you adjusted the settings in camera to achieve that nice level of noise?
    At this time I've got kind of acceptable noise with 4k fine 23.973, c-log3 cinema gamut, iso 800, f 1.4 and noise reduction at standard, with this being 1/3 of a step overexposed. Hope you can give me some feedback. Thanks!

    • @Soundstripe
      @Soundstripe  Před rokem +5

      Hey man! The problem with clog3 is the noise. You basically need to overexpose your image by at least one or two stops (without clipping). So when you shoot, make sure your image is actually brighter than you’d typically shoot. Then you bring it down in post and it’ll look way cleaner.
      Also, feel free to shoot lower iso if you can. That will clean it up too

    Hey Guys ,awsome video, Was the soft focus intentionally on some of the scenes or were you guys using diffusion filters?

    • @Soundstripe
      @Soundstripe  Před 2 lety +4

      Good eye! We attribute the soft imagery to a mixture of shooting on vintage anamorphic lenses wide open (in general not advised! haha), and having to punch in quite a bit
      to fill a 16x9 frame. Since the sensor is super35 rather than full frame you end up with an ULTRA wide image, losing vertical information. Shooting on proper spherical lenses on the R7 definitely results in a sharp image! You can check out the RS3 gimbal video we did where we shot on spherical lenses with the R7 to see how the camera actually performs! AND be on the look out for more content on the R7, we've got a few more videos cookin'

    • @SMGJohn
      @SMGJohn Před rokem +1

      Its kind of funny but I suppose it makes for a good showcase what the camera can do in the best scenario.
      However the greatest camera for budget users is probably Panasonic S5 or Fuji X-T4 considering they are both 10 bit 4k shooters with 12+ stops real world dynamic range.
      So they both can be used comfortably in most lighting scenarios without issues.
