Very interesting instrument. But I didn't get how the child virginal was linked to the mother with the keys reacting altogether. At 2:04 it sounds almost like a sitar.
The jacks of the mother virginal pushes up at the underside of the child's keys. That is why the jackrail is removed before the child is placed on top of the mother at 2:26

It is a plucked instrument so it is more a harpsichord than a clavichord. It is, so to say, the rectangular version of a harpsichord. A harpsichord would be a grand piano and that instrument would be a rectangular minor version of harpsichord. It is a sort of a virginal.
