Mal Campbell. Yes, he was riding the skin off the NS500 that series, and beat Gardner fair and square in two of the heats: one at Oran Park, and again at Surfers. Gardner famously crashed trying to catch him..
Errrrrr, Gardner was on the NS500 triple in '85, not the NSR V-4 as stated in this vid title.
