I met Terry in his native Limerick in 2013, he was just walking down by the waterfront not far from where his bronze statue now stands... I was a bit apprehensive approaching him ... I just wanted to thank him for all the happy memories, I needn't have worried, he was an absolute gentleman and treated me like I was an old friend.... he left me with a warm happy feeling that I'll always remember. Rest in peace Sir Terry.

When SBS in Australia first started to show Eurovision, normally on a Sunday night so had to try and avoid any news during the day.
Terry Wogan was the host of the Eurovision telecast at the time.

As a wee lad aged just 9, and following a car accident in which I broke my femur and suffered lacerations to my whole body, especially to my face which apparently made me unrecognisable, Sir Terry became my life and made me a lifelong fan in all he did. After 3 months in hospital I was bedridden for a further 6 months at home and every single day when I woke up my Mum would turn my new ‘welcome home’ radio on so I could listen to Sir Terry on his morning radio show. His voice was so soothing, and his calmness something I’d never experienced before, and put simply he became my ‘hero’, even more after reading out my Mum’s letter to him! Sir Terry thank you for everything. It’s fair to say that by reading these comments you, Sir, are missed by millions. Rest in peace ‘Tel’.

  • @camriley

That memorial at his graveside is much like Sir Terry's character in some ways - understated, no ego trip but fabulously perfect. His Janet and John series on radio still has me laughing so much. Graham Norton always pays his respects to Sir Terry when it's Eurovision which is as it should be. To think of the large audiences who tuned in to the Wogan radio show daily - that will never be repeated. Neither will he.

I’m feeling quite choked having watched that….how simple and non ostentatious his final resting place is, and such a beautiful serene place…
He never seemed to like lots of fuss, and he seems to have carried it through to the end. Cancer is so insidious, and 77 is no age. We certainly lost a treasure when he passed away, so we were very lucky to have his. Lovely voice to listen to and keep us going daily on radio two for as long as we did. RIP Sir Terry…always missed, and Thankyou for everything. 🙏😘💐xxx

I'm afraid that I was the guilty party for those. I was privileged to know the man for 14 years. He was every bit as kind as you would imagine he might be. A little quieter, and slightly more 'sweary', but I never saw him not have time for people. He would often have people waiting for him outside what is now Wogan House, and it might be tipping down with rain, with his faithful driver, Dennis waiting, but he would stand patiently as they searched in their bag for a camera, or a book to sign. It is typical of the man to have such an understated memorial, but equally typical that his family would always come first and fitting that the memorial words would be about and from them. We will not see his like again.

Like everyone has said in their comments, can’t wait for this one! Not so much sad but strange that Terry is no longer with us as it seemed that every time you turned on the radio Terry was there and bringing a calmness to the day, no matter how traumatic it seemed to be. I particularly looked forward to the pre-handover chats between Terry and Jimmy Young every morning in the late 70’s, a highlight of any weekday morning. Can’t believe it’s 7 years since he left us and huge hole in British broadcasting.

Absolutely Mark. I still feel sad and can get tearful when I think of him passing which is a bit ridiculous since I didn't know him. Maybe it's because I associate him with a happy childhoid but I also listened to him up until he left his breakfast radio show, so can't be that. No. One has ever replaced him successfully in my eyes... That gentle wit, that sardonic clever humour gently easing me into my day.... Greatly missed

There was a lot of shock deaths that year in the celeb world - and personally for me as well - but Terry's got to me the most. Probably because was a gentle Irishman like my own grandad who passed only a couple of months after him. I loved watching Children in Need with him presenting, it just hasn't been the same since. When he stared into the camera and gently and calmly asked people to give what they could - you felt his sincerity and passion for the cause. All these loud and bash celebrities that have replaced him since though, call me a cynic, but it feels as though a lot of them are only there for the exposure. I skip through most of it these days - it just doesn't have the charm or the motivation it once had when Terry was in charge.

‘Legend’ I think you summed it up in one word Paul. I still sort of expect to hear his voice on Children In Need or Eurovision. Great video Paul really moving.

Wogan was and still is a legend. I used to listen to his show every day and it was worth waking up for. Kept me entertained whilst driving thousands of miles around the UK. He was the best at what he did.

Loved him Even as a kid My dad was a radio 2 man Radio 2 back in the 70s early 80s did the sport as well So some weekday nights and Saturdays it was live football domestic and European plus other sports Then radio 5 came then 5 live which we get today No back in those childhood days Wogan on weekday mornings followed by the beautiful Gloria Hunniford Brilliant His chat show was the best of the lot Wogan had a natural charm and grace He would smile and you knew everything was going to be cool I'm 53 now so Wogan has been a mainstay in my life Was gutted when he died cause that's a void that can never be filled I had the same feeling about John Peel too His voice was so cool Peely got me into punk when I was 11 my parents who were so old school were mortified and they just about disowned me when the Young Ones were on Sorry am waffling SIR TERENCE WOGAN I SALUTE YOU SIR you are much missed by us all Great vid Paul This was nice ❤️🙏🍀🇨🇮📻 Hey I know you can't give location but is it in Ireland?

So much love and respect for Sir Terry,
    - Such a kind hearted and warm and caring and witty personality.
    - He made you feel welcome in his company on TV and radio,
The softness in his tone of voice was like the finest of all audio chocolates.

Hi, Paul that was one of the best episodes you have done, what a legend and to be one in your own time is so rare, l used to listen to him on Radio Two and he could always make you laugh didn't matter how you were feeling he is sorely missed, and his Eurovision commentary was so great it was worth watching it just to hear him, well done to you for showing integrity in not telling the location and anyway you took us there so why would we need to go there that's the whole point.

Hi from Dublin Ireland. In all of the resting places you have shown us , this has to be the most beautiful in it's simplicity. The peace and calmness especially with such a beautiful day is perfect for his family to visit and have him to themselves after sharing him with the world for so long and for that I truly thank them ❤💚. I thank you also very very much as you bring these resting places to those of us who cannot visit in person. 💀 R.I.P Sir Terry Wogan ❤💚
