Hollywood Forever Cemetery is a full-service cemetery, funeral home, crematory, and cultural events center which regularly hosts community events such as live music and summer movie screenings. It is one of the oldest cemeteries in Los Angeles, California and is located at 6000 Santa Monica Boulevard in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Hollywood. It was founded in 1899 as Hollywood Cemetery, and, from 1939, was known as Hollywood Memorial Park until 1998 when it was given its current name. The studios of Paramount Pictures are located at the south end of the same block, on 40 acres (16 ha) that were once part of the cemetery and held no interments.
Individuals interred in the cemetery include many prominent people from the entertainment industry, as well as people who played vital roles in shaping Los Angeles.
Hollywood's only cemetery, Hollywood Forever was founded in 1899 on 100 acres (40 ha) and called "Hollywood Cemetery" by F. W. Samuelson and (first name unknown) Lombard. In 1897, the two men were the owners of a 60 acres (24 ha) tract of land near Hollywood in Los Angeles County. In that year, they-along with Mrs. M. W. Gardner of Santa Monica, Joseph D. Rodford, Gilbert Smith, and Thomas R. Wallace-formed a corporation known as the "Hollywood Cemetery Association. The cemetery sold large tracts to Paramount Pictures, which, with RKO Pictures, bought 40 acres (16 ha) by 1920. Part of the remaining land was set aside for the Beth Olam Cemetery, a dedicated Jewish burial ground for members of the local Jewish community.
Since 2002, the cemetery has screened films on weekends during the summer and on holidays at a gathering called Cinespia. The screenings are held on the Douglas Fairbanks Lawn and the films are projected onto the white marble west wall of the Cathedral Mausoleum. Music events take place in the cemetery as well. On June 14 and 15, 2011, The Flaming Lips played at the cemetery in a two-night gig billed "Everyone You Know Someday Will Die", a lyric from their 2002 single "Do You Realize??". - Zábava

Every time I see Anton Yelchin’s grave, my heart breaks all over again, not only because he died so young but also because of his parents. Such devotion and grief all wrapped up together. ❤

I was so sad to learn of Anton's tragic death. He was a handsome young man, talented actor who is missed by many. So nice to hear his parents visit his grave almost daily. RIP Anton 🌹
The saddest thing to me about baby graves is after the parents are gone, rarely does anyone go to see them. And sometimes it's too painful for some parents to go back after burial. They were loved & adored but sadly are forgotten after their beloved parents leave this world. I usually hope that they have siblings that at least think of them sometimes. One of my good friends lost her son Daniel at one day old from a heart problem. The whole family visits him, leave food & presents & take family photos at the grave site (it's a cultural thing for them. Be nice). I don't think I've ever seen a child so well loved & missed. Daniel would have been 13 this year.
Our first born child only lived 50 min after birth he would’ve been 31 years old this year we now live a hour away from where he’s buried and it’s still hard to visit his grave.

My dad is buried next to the baby graves. One day when I was visiting him, I wondered around and I found a corner of a grave. I did what I could to rip all the grass and dirt from it. Broke my heart. All those little ones gone. 😢
That couple looked like sweet grandparents.
Scott, I lived right there across the street on Virginia Ave. We always went to the outside movies at Hollywood Forever. I find that cemetery more beautiful than all the others in Los Angeles. I'd walk through there many nights after work for exercise and on weekends especially. Simply a breathtaking journey. The cats have been there for years, even back in the early 2000s . They'd follow me on my walks through the cemetery. You're not to feed them, however I always had a pocket full of cat treats I'd toss to them. That area with the child's graves is known to me as the Limbo area. Limbo is the area where children stay, it is said that God places their souls into other newborn children in order to live their lives again because they were taken to soon. I always cried when I walked past the Limbo area at Hollywood Forever.
So hard to see the babies. They were so wanted and loved. It's really hard to visit. My first lived 3 days. She's buried at her Great Grandma's feet. I live far away, as does her Dad. We never forget her. We always send flowers on her birthday. ❤

I live in South Florida, went back to Los Angeles about 4 years ago. I spent about half the day in Hollywood Forever by myself. I could not believe the beauty of the place. A lot of people think that is weird but I don't. It was like a preview of Heaven. All those beautiful souls, and all the wonderful living beings such as peacocks and kitties and ducks etc etc. I found it incredibly peaceful and not at all depressing. I would be honored to have a kitty lay across my grave marker. Maybe I am weird lol. Nicely done Scott.
I visited Los Angeles this past September for the first time. Me being an old soul I had to check out Hollywood Forever. Part of me didnt want to leave it was so surreal seeing all of the graves in person after seeing them on TV and pictures after all of these years. Will definitely be visiting again when I go back.

Having lost my great granddaughter, Frankie, last year after 10 days, ( she was premature), Baby Land really hit home. I also wish someone could be hired to take care of the tiny graves. I have been a fan of Angels and Airwaves since I first heard them on One Tree Hill almost 20 years ago. If I ever make it to Hollywood in this lifetime, I want to visit Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

The families are given more privacy behind that wall. Not necessarily less than the others.

I'd be sitting on the ground petting them. My dad and i went to a funeral for a dear friend and all the cats were following me. Dad cracked up asking what in the world was in my blood for every animal to follow me wherever i go. Told him don't know - you gave me half my blood so you should already know!!! He's now buried right across from that dear friend.
My mom is buried in hazard Kentucky. Whenever a baby passes - they bury the baby by mom as she was everyone's favorite aunt. My cousin used her name in one of his daughters name. Ruby Marie. She has about 8 babies and my cousin who passed away too young from a drunk driver. He was in his mid 20s i think. Firefighter.

I’m not sure if anyone else’s mind went to ancient Egypt? They sometimes find mummified babies and the archeologists get very emotional about this, even after thousands of years have passed, which is so moving and inspiring. ❤ To have something so special at a modern cemetery, Hollywood Forever, where all the babies are together? It’s incredibly compassionate and makes me feel really good about people’s foresight. Wow. I’m really proud and moved to see this! Cats are brilliant with the bereaved too. What a wonderful place 🐈⬛
Not far from where you were in the video is where my great-great-great grandfather, Richard "Dick" LaReno is buried in an unmarked grave.
He was the sheriff in the 1914 Cecil B DeMille film "The Squaw Man".
I hope one day to be able to get him a headstone.
My great-great grandfather, Edward "Eddie" Phillips, is also interred there in the Court of the Apostles.
He was also a silent film actor known for "The Collegians" and as the love interest of one of the characters in "The Bells".
Hollywood Forever truly is a beautiful and magical place.

That's so sad. It's the one thing I dislike about any cemetery, if there is no one available to consistently maintain the older burial plots they often get forgotten and fall apart.
My Aunt and Uncle are buried in El Cajon Cemetery in San Diego, CA and the section they're at is completely dead weeds because the cemetery doesn't water their side, but across from them on the other side of the cemetery the lawns are all green, mowed and taken care of.

It's very heartbreaking to see an adult grave site but it's more of a tragedy when you see a little small babies grave site it just breaks your heart to see that that these little Souls never had a chance always enjoy your videos Scott

I love Hollywood Forever. I've lived right across the street for 34 years and walk there almost every day. I only discovered that area in 2020.

June 7th marked the 4 year anniversary of losing my niece at 4 weeks. I’ve raised her twin brother since that day. The smallest caskets are the hardest to carry. ❤

I love those etched stones. They are my favorites. Just brings the people buried there to life. A picture is worth a thousand words as they say. The dachshund grave really touched my heart because my best friend and favorite pet was a dachshund. I'd give anything to have him back again. There are so many beautiful graves in this cemetery. I wish I could walk through there in person. Baby land is always so heartbreaking. I don't think I like the way they have this section hidden away and I don't understand why either. When I go to cemeteries I always look for baby land. I always feel so sad for these little ones who never got the chance to grow up. But I have this beautiful collectors plate at home. It's a picture of a smiling Jesus sitting down with all of these children of different ages sitting around him and the youngest ones on his lap. They are also smiling with the happiest of faces. So I always like to imagine that's the way it really is and that makes me feel somewhat better. Beautiful video Scott, thank you. RIP to all and especially the little innocent ones ❤ 💐

Well I know that Pardes Shalom has a 'Baby Section,' but, in Holy Cross Cemetery, where my father is buried, babies & children are buried with their parents (or where it is reserved *FOR* the parents, after the poor children have died). My own maternal grandparents are buried with my 3 would-be aunts & uncle themselves, in Limerick Ireland. So, this cemetery that you are visiting, Scott is actually the only second cemetery that I know about to have a baby section (the first one being, the afore-mentioned Pardes Shalom Cemetery).
My parents are in Pardes Shalom, just a few meters from the Baby Section. It's absolutely heartbreaking. Every time we visit our parents, we drop a stone on the baby's Graves too. Just to remember.
@@TheLastchild101 Yeah, like I said, I've seen graves all over Holy Cross set aside for babies & small children. I've been to Pardes Shalom 4 times, & it was on my third visit that I learned of the baby section (my friend's daughter wanted to see the grave of her still-born twin brother).

It's special to see how some cemeteries won't let families put decorations and all of the headstones have to be similar, and then you get one like this one here where people leave little knick knacks, flowers etc. Great video!

As a leather clad, Blondie bombshell Transgurl who studies witchcraft...I walk around at night at times (not really safe in my horrible little city Philtadelphia, on my travels I try to have a few cans of cat food for the stray kitties....being abandoned by so many friends coming out as myvTransgurl self.....I see myself in those stray kitties, so I try and be there for them. ❤ FY so much for filming them...I needed a smile. I haven't been to a cemetery yet that didn't have a children's section. I always think the same thing, "You're far too young to be here."
My parents share a grave in Section 64 at Arlington National Cemetery, For many years after my father passed (1989), there were few graves in that part of the cemetery. There has always one been one immediately to the left. "Sean", a child who was apparently stillborn as there's only one date listed. And, that he was the son of a U.S. Army second lieutenant and his wife. The only times I've seen any decorations on "Sean's" grave has been on Memorial Day (A Flag) and at Christmas (Wreathes Across America) I've not left any flowers lest I intrude. Been to Hollywood Forever several times. This is perhaps your best video yet.
