In this video we built a rabbit hutch for our baby rabbits. This video is just about building a hutch. I did show adding food and water containers in the hutch but what I did not get on video is giving them plenty of hay. Enjoy!

Fellow Silver Fox breeder here from Wisconsin! So glad you use 16 gauge wire and those fence staples! I see way too many people using cheap wire mesh and regular staples on their cages 😕
Only suggestion - attach the wire to the underside of the floor frame, that way when they pee and poop it does not get stopped by the frame and stay in the cage.

I love this idea. I want to keep rabbits as a food source and was wondering if a ramp could be built to allow the rabbits to "free range" during the day in my backyard? This would be similar to the way many chicken coops are designed.

Roof panel was not in the flow direction but still works I guess. Nice hutch!!
Hi,nice job. As for the old one you can get some metal drywall edging to cover the edges of the pressure treated wood.

I am loving your channel. We are new to raising rabbits. We have silver fox as well. Our two does had their first kits at the end of November and beginning of December. We are super excited. What is the size of your rabbit hutch
I’m brand new to rabbits. What are your measurements? I have SF does too. They are throwing large litters 10-13. Do I need 2 grow out cages per doe or can I put all does and all bucks together prior to processing? The kits are 2 weeks apart in age
Hello! I don't know the measurements off the top of my head but I'll mention them in a future video. You can put different litters together in the same grow out hutch. Just separate does and bucks like you said.

Potentially silly question, does the wire flooring not hurt their feet?
If all they have is wire then they can get soar hocks. So it's important to have a resting mat. I use spare plywood as resting mats.
Curious, why plywood on the ends and not wire?
Just to keep wind off of them. We have more cold months than we do warm here.
I use maybe 10 gauge wire and no sore hocks. One came with sore hocks so he has it but its not our fault. Love them ❤

What gauge wire is it? 16, 19, 23 ?

16 gauge wire and the role is 30 inches wide from Tractor Supply. 3/4 inch poultry wire staples are certainly at Home Depot but should also be at Tractor Supply.

Make sure your floor wire is no thinner than 16 gauge it can cause sore hocks of it is too thin. 14 and even 12 gauge are recommended for the larger breeds (breeds over 10lb) make sure to have resting mats if you use 16 gauge.

Why does my doe makes a bleating sound when l put her to the buck
It's normal for does to make noises. Mine grunt sometimes when I put them in with the buck. :)

We do one litter per stall. But we usually separate does and bucks. So one hutch is good for two litters.
According to you which Rabbit breed is the best for meat and farming?
California, New Zealand, Silverfox etc.
Those are all great meat breeds. It really just depends on what you are looking for. I like heritage breeds so I chose Silver Fox and I love them!
