    Hi Davie, Thanks for sharing this Mayfly pattern. I tied a few for my Fly Box and fished at my local Stillwater earlier today and caught 5 good sized Rainbows. PS: As I didn’t have Artic Fox Tail, I substituted it with dyed Olive Squirrel Tail for the wing and it still works a treat. Best regards, Wayne 😀👍

    Hi Davie, another beautiful fly. last I looked you could get a whole arctic fox tail for $20 U.S. then they sold medallions like yours. except for the seal I have the rest of the stuff. I have body not tail on the fox. thanks for base of the tail advise. looks like the squirrel was from the tip. I'll be tying afew of those. atb & thanks again.

    Hi Davie,It seems that the olive colour of Arctic Fox Tail on your video is a different colour to the olive colour by Foxy Tails Shadow Tail. Is it a different shade of olive ?Thanks for your helpJohn

      Hi John,
      I dyed the fox in the video myself as I keep the bottom of the white tails for flies like these as the short hair suits wings. I had a look at the colours by Foxy Tails and I can see what you mean as they are different though the olive, light olive green or even the golden banana would work just as well...If I was ordering from them I would give them a call or email asking f they would sell the small lengths like you would get at the bottom of the tail as you want to tye wings with them and I'm sure they may be able to help you...
      All the very best Davie

      +Davie McPhail Davie,thanks for the quick reply. I've looked at the link for the Fox tail and there are two sizes [1/16 or1/8] the former being the only one in stock. Pardon the pun, but in this instance does size matter?

      @DavieMcPhail  Před 8 lety +1

      Hi skutterskelfe,
      If you can order it by phone and ask for the short hair at the bottom of the tail as this is the best for doing these wings so size does matter...
      All the very best Davie
