    Composing a scene is a lifelong process and is quite subjective, but there's some solid fundamentals that I like to apply to my compositions when it comes to landscape photography.
    In this video, we will head out into a snow covered winter scene in New Zealand and I'll share the thought process for capturing mountains and tree scenes. We will review the RAW images on the computer and I'l talk you through the thought process, which I hope will give you some tips and insights into composition for landscape photography :)

    You're becoming one of my fav Photography channels on CZcams. I've been watching these since Thomas Heaton 7 years ago! I like your straight on approach and of course, your photos are pretty damn amazing, too! Thanks for this. We are dying from the brutal humidity here in Japan and your winter weather "warms" my heart.

      Agreed. To me Will and Thomas are mentor photographers, somewhat working from opposite ends of the spectrum, with Will “shooting from the hip” and Thomas sometimes taking all day to frame a single shot.

    I never delete my raw files that I don't use, I frequently go back and check again and over the years I found gems

    • @WilliamPatinoPhotography
      @WilliamPatinoPhotography  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I only delete stuff that is repetitious or I'm 100% confident on. Anything that I'm on the fence about, I keep and potentially revisit down the track. Generally it's pretty easy for me to tell what is worth keeping and what isn't. The exception being abstract and intimate scenes which are all similar but have slight differences.

    Thanks for sharing Will, these images are stunning - especially love the one with the side-lit mosses on the tree. I love NZ just never been there in winter. I wonder why you use Bridge and Camera Raw instead of Lightroom? Is that just a matter of preference or some other reasons behind?

    Love the trees with the snow. Do you always pick images with single focus point? Would you choose a more ambiguous image with a cool pattern? Seems like that would be possible with the trees.

      Thanks mate. Yes, in the portfolio I have a collection of intimate scenes which is more a focus on patterns and textures. Most often then not, I'm looking for a solid focal point though. Cheers.

    The image with the mosses and the snow is stunning 👏. I'm still trying to crack handholding...i notice when you used yor 100-400 you where at f13/14 and slow shuuter speeds of 1/20 - 1/50 at 150mm +, and ISO200. How the hell do u do that! Are you still exposing to the right ? I'm using a Sigma 150-600mm sports on A7riii and i have to use faster shutter and higher ISOs??
