I remember being a kid and watching anderson’s debut for the first time at my cousins house . I was like “woah this red haired dude is scary looking” only to immediately see Anderson school him.
Loved the sport ever since lol.
And he was very tough too! But Aderson was on another level.
Anderson asked for the title shot for his UFC debut. He was denied because he didn't have name recognition yet.
So he did that to Chris Leben, in response.
Chris leben at the time was a top contender and was known for taking shots, getting rocked, biting down on his mouth piece and KOing his opponent stiff while Chris was on wobbly legs. Nobody had ever seen Chris leben beat like that before. Even those who had seen Anderson fight prior to the ufc didn’t expect that because Anderson had been beat a few times before he got to the ufc and the ufc has always been considered top tier and Chris was at the top of the ufc. So people were expecting Anderson to pick Chris apart but for Chris to be tough enough to bring the fight to Anderson, not for Anderson to treat him like a baby brother.
To be fair, some of these guys had serious success outside the promotion and/or beat top contenders for the shot.
It was actually Dan Hendersons 3rd UFC fight when he fought Silva. He fought at UFC 17 twice winning the Tourney back in 98
@@rb3706 and was the last pride middleweight and light-heavy weight champion too. It made sense to match them up right away just like dan fought rampage.
Brock had a lot of success in WWE by that point. 😆
@@hankthetank8039yea he was just a big name but the others were either champions in different promotions or were really good anyway
Bisping saying “Baby boy!” Is just so funny to me
It's something he would say on his podcast when Louis j gomez was his co-host
@@tannermcguire7713 I used to listen to their Podcast all the time even at the gym, so much comedy... Haven't listened since Luis J left.
@@Cub__ it’s still good
Maxi baby is another funny saying of his
Jiri is an animal, it's pretty crazy to think that he could still get better.
Picograms are too powerful for anyone under 250lbs
Of course he gonna get better he isn’t even 30 yet, unless his chin goes quickly
The antenna makes the difference
@@JRF1004 that's the detail, he has no chin hahah look at his pics without beard
@@JTKBrody Yeah, he has that Andrew Tate chin.
Prochazka had quite a few MMA fights before joining the UFC, so I see why he received the opportunity.
He was the Rizin world champion so made sense
It was also because he turned down a UFC contract a few years back to gain more experience, which ended up being an incredibly intelligent move in more ways than one.
He was Rizin Champ and tournament winner that's nothing to scoff at.
@@aluz4753 Intelligent
Lol what are you talking about? Jiri has 30 professional fights before joining UFC 😂😂😂 did you get banned on google?
You could also include GSP moving up to middleweight since you included Hendo moving up to lightheavyweight.
Makes sense
No, GSP had many many fights in the UFC prior to that
GSP earned his first ever title shot after two UFC fights.
Nah definitely earned a spot to cut the line, hendo fought those two fights as crossovers with pride, which is a whole other organization
Jiri man...can't wait to see him snatch another bonus...1st fight earned performance of the night
2nd fight earned fight of the night (midyear fight of the year)
3rd fight earned fight of the night (THE fight of the year)
His fast title shot was well deserved he made such a dead division fun again
Not fight of the year
@@YakubTheScientist8841 Jiri Vs Glover is definitely fight of the year
@@HalfBakedRamen yup
@@YakubTheScientist8841 jiri and glover is fight of the year no argument, unless their rematch is somehow gonna be more chaos than the first
@@terrylad3562 chandler vs porier, khamzat vs burns, both easily better, jiri vs glover was one sided until the last minute
The Chandler one is just ridiculous for the UFC to do. For Mike to beat a #6 ranked Dan Hooker who didn’t look the same after his war with Poirer, to have him fight a Oliveira with 38 fights.
Yeah it was ridiculous but the UFC wanted to have a Champion who have never fought Khabib so they made the Oliveira and Chandler fight because they were the higher ranked fighters who never fought him. I hated that decision because #1 and #2 where Poirier and Gaethje which in my opinion would have been a hell of a rematch and (in my opinion too) Poirier would have finally been the undisputed champion but he chose the money (and who wouldn't?). With Dustin out the right thing to do was Oliveira vs Gaethje but they tried to force Chandler in
Its because of his resume and Hooker actually looked like he couldve won the Poirier fight and Chandler basically 1 punch KOd him in his UFC debut so he got fast-tracked
@@Areeb118 Exactly, not sure why that's so difficult for some people to grasp. Especially since he was basically Bellators poster boy for awhile and was a world champion over there regardless.
And he was furiously against Islam getting the title shot against Charles lol . What a clown
@@ArmandDark09 poirier opted to fight conor
Joe Soto also got a title shot in his first ever UFC fight
Jiri is such a beast
In shape Tim Sylvia is terrifying
All of that training just to eat a massive overhand shot in the first 30 seconds of the fight.
Goldberg talking about Matt Lindland recovering while his unconscious head was getting dribbled had me dying Lol.
😂😂 I was looking for this comment
Goldie always sucked but damn the OG commentary team will always be my fav lol
One you missed - Volkan Oezdemir getting a title shot at LHW vs Cormier after only 3 UFC fights
Love how Adesanya fans are saying "Omg early stoppage! he would've survived".....bro there were 3 minutes left and he was barely standing, he wasn't surviving shit :))
It's unlikely, but we've seen comebacks from worse.
@@geran4473 thats not a good take you can't let fighters take life altering damage because there's a chance they'll pull of a Kongo comeback
@@thiccniglet3095 Nah, I agree, it's hard to argue against the stoppage.
Bro early stoppage 100%. I wanted to see izzy being sent to the shadow realm. So not just Izzy fans think it was stopped too early. They're only legally allowed to fight for that 25 mins. I would've enjoyed those extra seconds of his soul leaving his body. Too much?
@@vipset87 Nah, very understandable perspective :))
Yana Kunitsakaya and Joe Soto are missing. Both got title shots with no fights in UFC
Tonya Evinger too
Rampage winning the title is such a great moment. The ko, the call on the mic & crowd reaction. Still get chills watching it.
Never as good as him fighting both chucj and Silva in the same night.
Meanwhile people like tony khabib had to clear the whole division for a title fight just imagine the amount of damage they took for that path
Khabib barely took any damage to his path as Champion. He was that good and elite compared to the rest of the guys he fought.
Lol wut he beat up horcher, MJ, and weird Al to become the disputed lightweight champ
@@hinglemccringleberry9494 You right man. Prime McChicken was nothing compared to Khabib. It was actually satisfying to see him getting smashed.
@@hinglemccringleberry9494 he also defeated rda in dominating fashion and later rda become champion lol 😂😅
Khabib first fight in UFC if it was for title he would have 13 defence still you would have cried
This is very rare to see... I think. Pereira shocked the world last week, and has forever changed the landscape once more
I disagree I feel most people expected him to win including myself
I don't mean this as any disrespect to Pereira, but I have questions about his grappling skills. Izzy is the most striking focused champ the sport has seen in recent years, I'm not trying to say lucky, but it was fortunate for Alex that everything lined up for him to get a title shot against someone with basically the same style as him, and for whatever reason he just has Izzy's number. I think he would likely lose if Whittaker gets a shot against him.
Mark Goddard shocked the world with that horrible stoppage
@@aidenkeogh9850 i thought anything could happen but Izzy was like a -205 favorite
I don't see how people picked Izzy. He's a great fit sure, but we all knew the fight would come down to the striking, and Pereira was 2-0 against him in striking.
Im wondering how different this list would look if it was based off of octagon time rather than amount of fights. Which gives me an idea, you should make a video on fighters with the least amount of octagon time per fight. Would be a BANGER!
Imagine Jiri VS Pereira at LHW. Absolute FIREWORKS!
Mazzagati truly insane reffing in that Mir 1 fight
rampage is the Alex pereira to chuck liddell 😂
Dear CZcams
Re-monetize this channel ASAP
People always act like it's a surprise to get a quick title fight. Make an impact against the right guy and push hard enough behind the scenes and there is a chance you'll get.
you forgot to mention gsp got title shot after 2 fights in ufc
Cant believe that all it took for Tim Sylvia to get a title shot was beating the Buffalo Bills logo
GSP earned his first ever title shot after two UFC fights.
That wasn't Dan Henderson's first two UFC fights though. He won Tournament 17 or something.
Jake Shields only needed one fight for a title shot too
I thought he fought Martin Kampmann before gsp?
@@frankiehitman2610 yeah only 1 fight then he fought GSP
@@thenedsmmachannel8970 fuck, I read your comment wrong. I see what you meant now.
@@thenedsmmachannel8970 would it have been fair to put Liz carmouche on the list? How many fights did she have in the ufc before she fought Ronda 🤔
I chuckle every time I see Alex smack Strickland with that left hook
Imagine Jiri vs Pereira
Smart video bro love the channel
Lesnars will always be the most impressive as his ufc debut was his 2nd ever pro mma fight i believe
What are you talking about. Dudes a certified juicer.
Being a champion in high level organization outside UFC helps. Jiri was Rizin champ and Chandler was a Bellator (no 2 mma org.) champ. Also Pereira was one of the best kickboxers in the world.
You should do undefeated fighters losing their 0
“These are short lil shots”😂😂😂😭
Stricklands reaction is so hilarious, all that shit "trashtalk" just to end up sayin.. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤣🤣
Jiri: Sleeps oezdemir
bisping: BABY BOY 🍼👶
yo ITP you should do a compilation video of every time a towel has been thrown in the octagon in the UFC. very rare thing to see in MMA! i’ve only seen it twice personally
Some classics in here
anyone remember the ufc unleashed intro back in the day? Theyd show highlights and one of them was at 3:30 that always got me so fired up
Most of these are fighters who have plenty of fights in other promotions, like Anderson and chandler. But Alex having just a few mma fights and winning the belt is crazy
Dan Henderson actually had UFC fights at middleweight when he fought Anderson for the belt. He beat Carlos Newton and Allan Goes to win the UFC 17 Middleweight tournament in 1998.
6:00 Herb forgetting how to be a referee again
man rich frankin looked so helpless when anderson silva was kneeing him in the face, felt sorry for him
You should do close calls on title shots (champs ALMOST loosing belts)
Awesome compilation. I remember the Silva fight and thinking Silva would win, but that whether he was able to finish Leben would be the test. Leben had never been stopped and had one of the best chins and a willingness to bang. He'd stood with Cote and Benji, both of whom we knew could hit really hard. And Anderson just tore him apart. Given how good Anderson was, we often forget this destruction, but it really set the tone.
this David Terrell looks like young middleweight Vettori with hair
Jiri really knocked the F**K out of volkan lol
Now make a list of the most fights leading up to becoming champion
So basically almost everyone that was fast tracked to a title shot won. Pretty amazing
you should do when the chin is strong enough
This was a nice deep dive. You sir are a historian and a scholar
Randy took a dive
Have this channel made a video of the longest runs to the title?
Anderson won the belt second UFC fight and still went on a 15 fight win streak 🐐
I didn't even know Jiri only had 2 fights before glover bros an animal
This video is valid.
You got Brock there nice and early. Only with a known name - do you get a title shot that quick. Money, hype, fin.
Finger in the eye. Finger in the eye. He got a finger in the eye. He gave him a finger in the eye. Finger in the eye.
I remember watching the Tim Sylvia fight where he finished Rico and had a cool interview afterwards where he said with the Maine accent "I hit him haad". Thought he was gonna be a big star but Pride "heavyweights" (which were guys who coulda made 185 and 205) dominated that division back then on a worldwide scale
Still feels crazy to see izzy get dethroned
In shape Sylvia was bad news
It's amazing to see how Tim Sylvia used to be an absolute Demolisher at one point but back issues made it hard for him to perform and train.
Sadly the UFC had no issues branding him as a bad fighter and the worst champ ever.
BABY BOY !
Baby boi!!! 😂
The most impressive fast title was Frank Shamrock, a name that gets left off all of the lists of fast tracked fighters. Statistically speaking, maybe the best UFC career ever.
Won the Light Heavyweight Championship in his UFC debut, went 5-0 in UFC title fights with 5 stoppages, with his first 2 UFC fights ending in a total time of 38 seconds.
100% UFC W:L ratio, title fight ratio of 100%, 100% stoppage rate, main event ratio of 80%, fastest sub in UFC Light Heavyweight (16 seconds). Oh, and was the inaugural Strikeforce Middleweight Champion, meaning he is the only person to be a multi-time Inaugural champion in UFC/Strikeforce history; a feat which he achieved a decade apart.
Honestly it's this video that makes me realize just how much an early stop the Izzy fight was... Look at ALL those other fights and Spot me one where the champ got wavved off so quickly.
He took took 12 shots to the head , clinching and dodging didn’t work at all and he was just gonna keep getting hit until he was out. The ref did his job plain and simple.
One more shot and he would've been out cold
Get over it, he lost
Youre comparing to 2000s ufc. Much different beast
All of those fight are from the early days of UFC with the fight or be killed mentality referee's like Mario Yamazaki
@@arvincabading1232 yeah just a few years before in the 90s a refs literally couldn’t step in until they were completely out or tapped to a submission
Joe “That’s what I’m talking about” Rogan
Lmao Herb Dean stopping a fight by waving his arms from where the fighter can't see him
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The gold standard according to Joe Rogan
CABBAGE had such a hard head, that's the last time i recall a corner throwing in the towel ehile their fighter was still standing.
Those were henderson's 3rd and 4th fights in the ufc
annnnnd STILL!!! 🤣🤣
1 of the reason why title defence cant include in goat conversation
Honestly Izzy stayed on his feet somehow because some of those punches would have flattened other guys in one punch. Crazy that that power is still there at the end of five rounds.
I appreciate this video, after hearing DC saying Alex Pereira getting a title shot after 3 fights was some kind of record and me thinking, nope no even close.
Longest title run, do next
☝️
Anderson's early days in the UFC were wild! I think only him and Jon Jones looked that good while building their long reigns.
wanna see him vs peirera imagine that
Guys lucky Tim missed the last 2 punches somehow
Also Jake Shields after 1 fight.
We could also have been talking about Pettis if he chose to wait for Edgar/Maynard 3 and Nick Diaz if he wasn't Nick Diaz
They couldn't keep randy on calla anymore. He just jumped on every call lol
Ya forgot bas rutten. Beat kosaka then fought kevin for the title.
To be fair to some of these people the ufc puts a very high value on mma experience in other top tier organizations. Jiri and chandler fought in some of the best promotions in the world
Can you do top 10 best Joe Rogan ooohhhh moments of all time?
Any living thing will succumb to the left hook of Alex Pereira, and that's just a fact. Also, if Michael Chandler would just focus his energy into winning instead of just rambo running in and killing everything, he would've won the title, I 100% believe that. He was so close to finishing Olivera at the end of the first, and watching him lose is so frustrating.
Sheesh i wish he didnt take the rematch
I thought Dominique Reyes was dead after he got hit with that reverse elbow.
Crazy to see Lesnar marketed af and later champion with a 2-1 standing
The antenna makes the difference
Evan Tanner beating down David Terre!l after escaping that wicked guillotine was awesome.
RIP Evan!
I love that no one even talks about olivera anymore. Man almost broke records and now he's simply history. He'll never be able to achieve that level of status ever again. Shots gone.
Anyone remember Joe Soto's shot against TJ Dillashaw?
It's insane Lesnar got a title shot over beating Herring.
Joe Soto fought TJ dillashaw in his debut
GARY PROHAZKAZ 😂
00:25
great channel keep it up
Joe Soto should have been here. He challenged TJ in his debut as a late replacement for Barao.
You forgot Jake shields. He got a title shot against gsp after only 1 fight
Jiri got #7 ranked as a debut i think its fair bcs he has a lot of mma and kickboxing backround beating almost everybody with almost all ended by ko/tko and big winstreak
Yana Kunitskaya had a title fight on her debut against cyborg
