Konthea, I really admire you. I understand 100% the way you feel about these monkeys. In fact if I lived there I would be doing the same thing that you are doing. Solim is such a happy character. So happy now. Solim has come a long way from when she was broken hearted from being abandoned and all alone with an injury and starving. She seems to prefer woman for love and play over men. I love Solim.

Elsie Robinson I am new to watching Konthea and this monkey and the face thing you said interest me? I thought this monkey was an in a sanctuary type but he has no friends there. People are saying this monkey is biting her and being aggressive with her and that is why she was left there after being someone's pet. Do you know a little more?

Karen James - as far as I know Solim(monkey) isn’t in a sanctuary, she was someone’s pet that was abandoned a few months back. She’s been living near the home of a poor family and they’ve been giving her some food here and there.
Monkeys get dumped in and around Angkor all the time, when they stop being cute babies and start becoming difficult to handle. The owners seem to think “there’s plenty of wild monkeys at Angkor - I can just dump my pet there, and she’ll go play with the other monkeys!” Sadly that rarely works out because the pet monkeys have been raised in isolation with no idea how to communicate with their own kind 😕
As far as I know Solim was never aggressive, and I’ve only ever seen her play-bite people once she trusts them enough to play with them. But when she was first dropped off she was kinda messed up mentally. She had this neurotic habit of hunching over and grabbing/tugging at her fur, to the point where she had a bald spot on the back of her head. So my guess is: she was no longer a cute dependent little baby, and she started showing neuroses from being raised by humans in isolation, either tied up or in a cage. Eventually her owners either felt bad for her and realised they weren’t caring for her properly, or they just couldn’t be bothered to spend money on an an insane caged animal anymore. So she got dumped 😥
She was so excited because she made a friend! So nice watching this! They get so lonely I think.

I spoke too soon- on the last video I said I thought Solim would be the calm one- NO WAY- she is just as hyper as SP and ruff, hair pulling and jumping around like she just drank 5 cups of coffee! She sure feels safe and trusting with you as you can see by the rough house play. Good job KT

Is there no way she could be introduced to another line monkey her age so she could maybe have a friend . Does anyone have any suggestions.maybe polino because sp getting older and adult now. But she needs interaction. But not introduced to a troop right away. The big males will not accept her right away or Dee Dee.

Fleas?! Are you kidding me? Fleas are the least of her concerns when the carry lice, mange, Hepatitis C and other bodily fluid transmitted diseases!
Solim probably has to de-louse for lice se are times a month. At least the fleas go away in the shower. Beyond all the exposure to parasites and diseases like hepatitis, this is a very nice and friendly warm video

This ex pet is trying to dominate you and you showed weakness and no boundaries by allowing her to pull on your hair, bite you, and give you warning signs. If you don't show that you are the leader they'll walk all over you. It's in their nature to be dominance. Educate yourself on their behavior lol

Yeah she just looks super excited and playful :) she’s an ex pet and doesn’t have a troop of her own, so she’s probably super bored and lonely(it looks like was raised with no manners, probably used to wrassling with people!). If she was really aggressive there would be a lot more aggressive eye contact, slapping, posturing, angry barking noises etc. She’s just rolling around like a puppy gnawing and havin a good time 😁

I’m simply talking about Solim’s behaviour towards the humans in this _particular_ video. She is demonstrating affiliative and play behaviour towards him.
IF she was displaying aggressive behaviours in this video she would be acting very differently. Like I said, she would be aggressive eye contact, slapping, lunging, making threat vocalizations AKA ‘barks’
“Wrassling” just means “wrestling”. She is trying to play-wrestle with the people in the vid, like a wild monkey would play-wrestle with its peers. This gives me the impression that she was raised by humans who allowed her to wrestle with them like that.
