One of the two best onboard views I've seen, the other has been gone for some years now... Awesome, love hearing the engine pulling as the clutch locks up.
Pulling the chutes takes the wind out of you. I've only experienced it in a 8.50 car with 1 chute and it's rough I can only guess what 3 chutes at 300 feels like but I imagine it's a little hard to breathe.
Well they are pulling like 6 g’s so that’s enough to limit your breathing and the negative g’s on the top end when the laundry comes out. They take a beating.
The driver gets most of the credit, particularly from the TV side, bit it's the crew that does most of the work. Getting 11,000 hp just to stick to the track not having anything blow up is nothing short of a miracle.
AWESOME! The consummate professional. Great pass. This must be the ultimate adrenalin rush. Great job Leah & to her team. Hope to see her perform at an event someday...👍😎
After all the drag races that I have been to and have watched on TV I have found it to be extremely rare for the driver not to give his or her crew(team) and sponsors thanks and praise for getting them to where they are, especially in the Top Fuel classes.
What these cars do to your body is amazing.. when they launch you can literally feel your organs jiggle inside you...the nitro makes your eyes water.. everyone should experience NHRA once in their life
Ticked that bucket list item off when I was in the states few years back. I wasn't even slightly prepared for the sensory overload that comes with watching a pair of these run the quarter, in between crying like a little girl thanks to the nitro. Definitely a life altering moment

I'd really love an answer to this - hear (read) me out, After the burnout heats the tyres, some drivers have a up to 2 minute window before they're off down the track. Surely the burnout is a moot point after waiting that long ?
No. Theres a lot of heat built by all of that fiction. That combined with the track surface maintains plenty of heat for the newly exposed tire surface to stick to.

There is a mechanical blocker on the throttle for the burnout that limits the travel. The hatch is above the driver’s right foot.
