Recall will go exactly like One drive. And I learned the one drive lesson about a year and a half ago. This is industrial spying on a grand level. I give it two updates maximum, before recall is turned on by default and I bet it is a real shit show to disable it, if at all. They will for sure use the if you disable this feature windows may become unstable warning to scare people.

Just went through hell unlinking the computer. They try every trick to keep you from finding it and deleting it. I had to sign up for it just to kill it then it tries to download everything. Sick to death of both Microsoft and Mac. Computers were much, much, much better 20 years ago.

Wanna see your OS take off? Make the end user experience as easy as Windows, but without the BS and Bloat.

There's your problem ... Windows is a long long way from useless. There is still a fairly long list of stuff you can do on Windows that doesn't happen on Linux and some of it is very basic stuff... like resizable desktop icons and exclusive access modes for audio and I/O devices.
Last year I decided to try Mint, to build an HTPC system...
On Windows this is painfully easy... Install a media player and make desktop shortcuts to your movie, music and playlist collections. Set it so you player runs in "bit exact" mode taking exclusive control of the audio during playback, run the whole show on "click and play" file associations... an hour later... bob's your uncle.
But on Linux no dice... I had questions, beginner questions, but still questions needing answers... "How do I make the desktop icons bigger?" "Which media player supports click and play?", etc. So I went to the Linux help forums... I must have asked about 20 times in different places and all I kept getting back was "What? You don't know how to do that??" and no help at all.
Why is Linux still a single digit market share after all this time?
Because you guys are all caught up in your operating systems and snobbery... never once considering application design and usability features that match or best other OSs. It ain't how many CL commands you know. It isn't how many settings you can tweak ... it's all about how easily you can do real-life, day in-day out tasks.

@@patrunidileep4802 Uninstalling it won't do anything. It will be reinstalled/re-enabled by default during an update. Or at least that's what I have observed it do in the past.
If you really want to stop it in its tracks, without microsoft being able to do anything about it... for the most part it seems... you have to jail it. You have to get around the extra security measures in the ownership settings to do it too with some things Microsoft wants to get away with. Cortana used to be one.
Anyways, you change the ownership settings so you actually own your computer properly, then you drag the offending applications exe and any other important looking exe or similar files into a unnamed folder. Doesn't matter where you put that folder. The point to it, is that it breaks the other commands going on that launch it, and run its processes, all by changing its directory essentially. And because of this, it won't load at boot, it won't try to automatically resurrect itself, etc and so forth. Why?
Well, the first stuff is cause the directory changed. But the second part about resurrecting itself I think is because the file still exists on the computer, so when searched for, it's still found. Just not in the right place. BUT they don't seem to have figured out how to 'beat' that part yet... I'll have to check, so expect an edit in a few moments if you see this comment right away, but I am pretty sure onedrive is still in jail on my system right now.

As a Linux user since 2009, I can tell you that replacing Windows on some people's PCs is difficult, because they use software for work that doesn't exist in Linux (and probably won't run in Wine too).
And many of the users don't even understand basics like the fact that the desktop is a directory, that they can create a folder to organize the desktop full of files. How do you think they could even try to install a new operating system? Or if you install it for them, do you think they will adapt to the new environment without traumas or disturbing you for every little thing like shutting down the PC? And the day they need for work a new software that exist only for Windows and won't run in Wine? Dual boot with Windows or turn back to only Windows installation?
      Reality is disappointing...

  • @googleaccountuser3116

Just don't provide them with the means to track you like an email address and your problem is solved.
There is no benefit to using windows on any platform. Everything windows software can do can be done faster, more conveniently and cheaper by other systems so why complain? If something doesn't work you try something different. That is how most escape the windows illusion and disappointment.
I also don't complain about google's android. I learned it runs on linux and took advantage of it by uploading a modified version that corrects a mistake google made where they "accidentally" removed the ability to login as root rendering any device it runs on useless. Next I logged in as root and completely removed OneDrive from the device and removed root access for apps like google store. Basically google and microsoft are no longer capable to change system settings and update software behind your back even when you set it disabled in settings. Not a flaw "just a feature I don't need".
