Milwaukee M12 Inflator Hack: Adding a better chuck for quicker use and less air loss.

  • amzn.to/3lXctIN I love my Milwaukee M12 Inflators. Mr. Subaru had a video about a chuck upgrade for his M18 inflator. While his suggestion was more expensive, I think this solution will work fine to make the Milwaukee inflators with screw chucks quicker to use and lose much less air when installing and removing from the valve stem.

    I’m glad I’m not the only one who turns it off when I mean to push start 😂

    Most quick lock-on chucks won't fit into the access hole in an RV "beauty disk" and lock onto the tire valve securely. The screw-on type will fit.

    I'm in the market for a drill with interchangeable chucks and this inflator is why I'm leaning towards the Milwaukee 12v system

      The Milwaukee Installation Driver with interchangeable chucks is a fantastic tool. It gets into places other drivers can't. The trigger action is smooth allowing the correct rpm's for the given application. Highly recommended.

      @@chiphill4856 Thanks... a major thing that's making me hesitate is some confusion over the difference between the T and the D drill shape options. The T has much more power and a 13mm chuck but if I understood a test I saw correctly the concentric driver doesn't seem to get as close to edges as the one that comes with the D shape.
      The magetic holder on the D also looks really useful, albeit with a possible downside of ferrous metal shavings sticking to it.
      I already have a brushed 18v Bosch drill, the 18v-21, so I do already have a 13mm drill in my collection - so maybe the D M12 drill would be better? The 18v-21 is just a bit under-powered by the latest brushless standards but I'll probably never need that extra power

    Great idea. I love my M12 inflator too. But recently I picked up the M18 and it’s a game changer. Pumps way faster and it’s quieter. Has memory settings too. I even use it to fill my Harbor Freight 11 gallon portable air tank! Did I say game changer?

    I am constantly hitting the power button instead of the inflate button as well. Also, I use the JACO Lightning S2X Tire Inflator Hose Extension Self Locking Nozzle my M18 and M12 inflator and it works well without any adaptors.

      Does your M12 inflator work at low pressure? I recently bought a M18 and it won't do anything below 10 psi. Thanks.

    I did this exact mod two years ago I find that chuck leaks alot when installed. I am going to buy the locknflate with the adapter its super pricey but ultra reliable

      I had the same experience. I have these cheaper chucks but they are leaky. I find I have to fidget with it quite a bit to be air tight.

    Saw this on a Milwaukie fan page or something. Did this on my M12 a few months ago and WOW what a difference.
    I bought the ones that just screw on to my current M12 chuck.

    The original screw-on air chuck has a Shrader valve in it, don't you need to remove that Shader valve so that you have airflow to the new lock on air chuck?

    If you are worried about accessibility perhaps you could use angled adapter?

    • @chiphill4856
      @chiphill4856 Před rokem

      Yes. A universal joint would also alleviate some of the force on the stem.

  • @zackmerrill8593
    @zackmerrill8593 Před rokem

    I like that you made it so that you can still run the factory thread on version. I find the clip on style tend to leak unless the hose is putting zero strain on the valve stem.
    I’m very curious about the locknflate.

    Instead of all the adapters, did you consider removing the existing female fitting and replacing it with your desired fitting?

    does your default screw chuck leaks? cuz mine leaks from between the brass and the where the hose starts unless i have something really tight

  • @markifi
    @markifi Před rokem

    all it needs is a number keypad. not even a power button. you key in the pressure you want, i should inflate to and maintain that pressure until you come back to detach it. a few seconds after detecting normal athmospheric pressure, it should switch itself off automatically. no manual operation. it could prectically be operated by a blind person

  • @jaxbrewery
    @jaxbrewery Před rokem

    They do sell one piece adapters on Amazon so you won’t need those couplers. I have then on my M18 inflators

  • @chiphill4856
    @chiphill4856 Před rokem

    You removed the shrader valve from the new adapter but I noticed you left the shrader in the original fitting on the hose. Wouldn't it benefit from the removal of that valve as well?

    • @GenePavlovsky
      @GenePavlovsky Před 7 měsíci

      The thing in the original fitting is not a schrader valve, it's a valve core depressor (it opens the schrader valve mechanically once the fitting is attached). I'm not familiar with this inflator, but generally these things are a non-removable part of the chuck. With the mod it is indeed not serving any function, but if you wanted to remove it, you would have to use a dremel or something like this to grind it out (possibly damaging the threads on the fitting in the process). I think the OP wanted to leave the original fitting untouched, in case he wants to go back to how things were. If not, the simplest thing would be to cut off the original hose and fit a single suitable barb or hose clamp adapter, rather than mix and match multiple screw-in adaptors as in the video. Or just use some nice replacement head for a bicycle pump, that can fit more than one type of valve.

    Yeah you didnt had to go all the way with those adapters when Amazon already have the 1/4" screw in chucks that fit all these standard 1/4" air compressor connections. You get 2 for $7! They work perfect and they just screw in tight and forget it!
