    Good to see some testing on air chucks, Thanks! The problem with many of those for me is they take up to much real estate and are not 90 deg for use on stuff like motorcycles and lawn tractors.

    I went with the Jaco over the Lock N Flate because its much smaller and can be right angle. There are some small tires tires I think would be real struggle to get enough straight in clearance to use the lock n flate on. Plus as you said below they have one that goes on my m18 inflator with no adapters.

    • @Tools-Tested
      @Tools-Tested  Před rokem

      Yep that’s definitely a drawback to the Lock N Flate. I do like the adapter Jaco has for inflators.

    Excellent review. Thanks so much. I've been struggling with several of those brands you tested and I thought it was me or that I got a defective one. Your results reflect exactly what I have experienced. From now on, I'm only using the Lock-N-Flate.

    Thanks, this was very helpful. I've been trying to get my Craftsman air compressor to couple to my Mercedes Benz wheels to inflate (top off) the tires.. I HAVE NOT been able to get these locking chucks to couple cleanly. I'm thrilled to find out that it is not me that is entirely the problem. My thread-on chuck provided with my heap Chinese-made battery powered compressor work just fine. I've spent much time and money trying to get this to work. And I haven't given up. Not cheap, but maybe I'll go with the LockNFlate chuck.

    Whats the difference between the closed flow and open flow?

    • @Tools-Tested
      @Tools-Tested  Před 10 měsíci +4

      Open you would use with an inflator gun, while closed would go directly on the air line.
      Basically open flows air without having to be connected to a tire, so its good if you're using a gun with a gauge on it. Closed only flows are when it's connected to a valve stem.

    LockNFlate needs a longer barrel style option, like their grease couplers, for reaching the inner tire stem on duals (trucks, trailers)
    that and a lower price point. Not quite sure how an air accessory is costing so much more than their grease products, especially when grease needs to be rated to much higher PSIs. Hydraulic category stuff costing more than air is par for the course, but it's backwards in this case and $50 for an air fitting/tire chuck is an even tougher pill to swallow knowing that. Hopefully prices come down over time considering this is a new product with lower sales/production volume. or somebody else comes to market with something comparable and forces better competition.

    • @Tools-Tested
      @Tools-Tested  Před rokem +4

      Yeah its a bit pricy, I'm guessing the price will come down over time seeing they just released it.
      They do offer a locking chuck for trailer tires.
      Pricey but looks interesting.

      You will need something like this + the Jayco amzn.to/49OrdNv ,that way one end screws into the Jayco and the other into the screw tip of the Ryobi.

  • @nolo3

    Honest question, what is the point of closed flow air chucks these days? why would anyone want to inflate without a tire inflator gauge so they can see the PSI? The closed flow style can’t be used with the inflator tools.

    Looks like this pesky deflation has messed up the price comparisons, some falling at different rates.
    I ordered a 2 pack of AstroAI (not Astro Pnuematics) air chucks almost 5 yrs ago, still on number first one. Yes, they can be a little finicky to keep from leaking.
    Looks like the one made by Lock'n Lube didn't fall far from the tree. The jaws do however look like they hold it straight and tight to the flat washer inside.
    I like the smaller chucks because they fit in more places, but I may hook a Marlin on my 30% off HF list and use in really tight spots. I already have a non-locking one for that.

    What is open and closed flow?

    • @Tools-Tested
      @Tools-Tested  Před rokem +5

      Open means when its plugged into your air hose directly its going to leak air. Open flow are normally used with a gauge and trigger.
      Closed flow you have to be on a tire valve stem before it will allow air to flow.
