“Service Beyond Expectation”
With tears in my eyes, I ask myself why I watch these videos. Is it morbid curiosity or a fascination with the pageantry associated with these services? These emotions touch me to my core and remind me of my own humanity...my ultimate destiny. I've come to realize that the reason these videos evoke such feelings is that they force me to confront a deep sense of helplessness, compassion, and empathy. I am helpless to let those who loved the deceased know how terrible I feel that they are going through this pain. I can't hold them, stroke their hair, or offer words of comfort. I can't bring a meal, cry with them through the night, or share fond memories with them. To those who suffer, know that thousands of anonymous souls, while they can't feel the uniquely individual pain you are enduring, offer you love, sympathy, and heartfelt condolences. Our hearts ache with yours.

I have sickle cell disease and seeing this reminded me of my friends I grew up with who had sickle cell disease and passed on. I'll be honest... I always wonder about when this would occur to me.
She is no longer in pain, no more doc visits, er visits, prescriptions, anything.
