    I solved the same problem by using the trailer jack to tilt the trailer lowering the approach angle. KISS

    I have a 26 foot ATC enclosed that has extra tall bumpers and a 5 foot long flip over ramp. My car is only 3 inches off the ground in the front and loads without a problem.

    Quick question: were you able to find a 36" hinged ramp so you could eliminate needing the race ramps? Thanks!

    No support Jack's on back off trailer? We're you hook up to the truck?

  • @bams50
    @bams50 Před 10 měsíci

    Way overkill on the race ramps, all you need is two pieces of 2x10 about 3 feet long. You only need that 2" until the front tires are onto the ramp. Also, better to have E-channel than D-rings for tiedown so that you can use wheel baskets. Pulling straps to D-rings can cause damage to splitters, and some exotics builders require baskets. One more tip, use the aforementioned 8x10s under the front wheels if you're using D-rings, gives you a little more room to get the straps under.

    Good deal just curious though the back of car looks higher you couldn't back into the trailer without the front getting jacked up?

    Look into the rail ryder system. Best thing you can invest in if you load by yourself alot.

    Great video! Great trailer! I am cheap and would have made my own extensions to keep the car and ramp as low as possible to the ground. Good luck with it, and have fun.

      I did for my Viper but they weigh about 125 pounds a piece as I choose to weld steel instead of aluminum. My mistake on that one. But the ramps are hell for stout. I think they are good for about 10k pounds.

  • @americassportscar
    @americassportscar Před 4 lety

    You didnt do your research very good on the race ramps. You could of got a set that wasnt so high and that will let you keep your flap on the door. Overall sweet car and trailer. I have a Atc and got race ramps to load my vette.

    Hi I have a question. What kind of truck do you have that is able to pull that large trailer with the car inside? What is the recommended towing capacity? I am looking to buy a truck and trailer for my show car as well but I am lost on where to begin. Thank you

    • @norcalsrt1214
      @norcalsrt1214 Před 4 lety

      Not hard to figure out a diesel would be a major plus take the weight of the car u will haul and the weight of the trailer and match that weight to the towing capacity of said truck but almost always a 2500 diesel will tow anything u can put on it legally

    I hated my extruded aluminum floor! Went to a rubber coin floor on my next ATC. What a headache to clean! Get some boggy wheels weld on both rear corners! You’ll love it. Don’t get a smart jack if you go electric. Complete junk. Nice trailer! Congrats!!!

  • @Bournefort
    @Bournefort Před 3 lety

    Sweet trailer but I would have just used a pair of $5 2x8s instead of those expensive 11 foot ramps. You only needed an extra inch or two to get the front splitter lifted.

  • @jeffway9949
    @jeffway9949 Před 5 lety +1

    Good luck with it. Bet they never seal up any tow hooks in the floor or the spare tire compartment as they will let all kinds of dust,water,snow inside . Also check your side door aluminum removable fender , any seals on it? If not it will let a ton of crap in . I bought the same trailer last year to haul my high end cars around it actually ended up damaging my ride due to letting calcium off the highway inside spraying on my car and damaging my paint. I own a bodyshop and I was extremely upset. ATC won’t due anything to repair it at all. Not a good trailer and very poor company to deal with . Good luck

  • @icehog2367
    @icehog2367 Před 5 lety +3

    You can most likely just crank the trailer jack up and raise the hitch which will in turn lower the approach angle of the ramp. Then no extensions are needed, problem solved.

    • @WindyCityExotics
      @WindyCityExotics  Před 5 lety

      I wish it was that easy. I have tried all of that but these low splitters are tough to clear. I am probably going to have a custom ramp made so I can avoid the race ramps

    You built a brand new trailer for a low Viper and didn't occur to you to get longer approach ramps?????????? Race ramps are a joke. ATC could have made you a one piece approach or nice alum ramps attached right to your door without having to carry that foam bullshit around.... Not too mention you have the trailer sitting way too high in the back to load. Get an electric jack, jack up the front of the trailer and you could get away with a 36" to 48" transition ramp......
