  • India's successful Chandrayaan 3 mission has started a Twitter war after a UK-based news anchor opined that Delhi should not be asking for foreign aid following the successful moon mission. Following which, many infuriated netizens reminded him of the $45 trillion Britain looted from India in the past.
It all started after the UK's GB News anchor, Patrick Christys, congratulated India on its moon mission and then asked the country to return the 2.3 billion pounds it got as foreign aid.

So, I did a little bit of research on this british 'aid' to India. And here's the details that nobody is going to tell you. 1. the primary reason british provided aids were because they are a signatory member of some UN treaty that they signed back in the 1970s, which mandates them to provide .8% of their GDP to the developing countries...funfact: they never met that target, they were running on close to 0.5% at most 2. India did receive the lion's share of UK's aid(~20%) for a long time up until 2011, we can guess those were primarily because India was the only developing nations that brits saw that their aid is going to have some positive results in tarms of bipartisan relationship in trades (and also and I am assuming here- out of the colonial era guilt and their tendency to act as a superior being to everybody), 3. 2011 was the year when Indian govt specifically mentioned to the UK govt that they don't need the aid anymore, and it is when their aid began to come down as a result, but it was until 2015 when they finally stopped giving aid to the Indian govt. 4. from 2015 onwards, the aids are primarily some sort of investments, kind of like what softbank does, so out of that 2.3 B of aid between 2015-21, 1B were given to different infrastructure bonds, banks, bank bonds etc to see some sort of return of investment, another 700m were given to different NGOs(and we all know these are either to run propaganda, assert influence or sometimes even spying, but again this is my assumption) and 400m were to govt affiliated organizations. So, there you go. Even the british watchdogs know these aids are nothing but peanuts for India and India actually runs its own foreign aid program which actually provides more aids to the world than it receives.

India has also contributed towards making Britain rich. UK is like an ungrateful kid who loots their parent's property and leaves them to die without any credit or apology and think the riches are due to their fortune.

In response to Sophie Corcoran's question about why current British taxpayers should not pay for the restoration of India due to British colonization, isn't it true that modern-day Britons indirectly benefit from the wealth acquired through past exploitation? The wealth that the British looted in the past was used to develop the UK in various ways, allowing today's generation to enjoy its advantages, isn't it?

There is a literary saying: “He who is tolerant & patient towards jealous & hurtful critics , -like the earth tolerates the one who digs at it -, shall rise as a leader.”India will surpass as a mighty leader.

  • @maheshg212

The problem starts with the history taught in the UK schools. Nowhere they are taught about the reality of colonism.
