    Great content! Your energy is always awesome. Trying to finish everything up to apply this Fall. Nervous but excited! I think for me GREs are probably the scariest for me, my goal is to take it by end of August, but I am not the best standardized test taker so I am trying to bring up my GPA and get A's on my last two science prerequisites.

      stefanie hernandez-mendez yaaaaas stefanie! Always a huge supporter - I appreciate you!! You will make it. If you constantly view the GRE as something that’s scary, it will ALWAYS be scary and you’ll have that haunt you throughout your studying and the exam. Change that mindset to view it as a challenge that you’re willing to overcome!
      But... good call on trying to boost your GPA to make up for the GRE score haha that was my strategy too! If it makes you feel better, I scored the very minimum GRE scores and even got less than a 3.0 on writing (I got 2.0)

    I’m a senior in the worst situation. I plan to graduate may of 2021 with a degree in Kinesiology, exercise science. However, I only decided to take on physical therapy as a career my sophomore year, and I have not yet done any of my hours of observation. I also will need to complete a few classes after I graduate and plan to take them at a community college after I graduate. I think I need a second chemistry class, as well as a retake in anatomy and physiology. Still need my letter of recommendation, but hope to get them from physical therapist I observe. I hope it all works out for me.

    • @drjustinleedpt
      @drjustinleedpt  Před 4 lety +4

      Gio Ramirez no need to stress out about it - you’re NOT in the worst situation, you’re actually more on track than you think! Sure, you started a little later, but that doesn’t mean you won’t make it! From what you’re telling me, you can easily take those prerequisite courses after you graduate, and work as an aide while going to class. This will gain your hours and income while you’re going to school. In addition, you can scout out PTs that you want letters from and also ask professors that you want as well. All this will take about 1-2 terms and you’re all set! Definitely a pretty decent situation if you ask me!!! And... I KNOW it will work out for you.

      liftforchange hey I’m in pretty much the exact same boat. An undergrad senior in kinesiology who didn’t decide on that major until the 2nd semester sophomore year. I luckily was able to take summer courses so I have all my prereqs and I’m lined up to graduate in spring 2021 but the problem is As a first gen college student I didn’t even know you needed observation hours 🤦🏻‍♀️ so I’ve spent the last 9 months trying to get into places and being denied cuz of covid. I was considering taking a gap year to work and get some experience under my belt before applying but I was wondering your opinion? Also do most PT programs have only one time a year you can apply or do they have spring/summer/fall registration? Thanks !

      Mimi NewBean hi Mini. I’m so glad you chose PT, it’s an awesome profession as I’m sure you already figured out. Hmm that’s a tough situation. Because PT schools know that everything has changed due to COVID but idk how flexible they can be. My best advise is to call them and ask if you will even be considered if you have 0 hours. If they say no, then consider taking a gap year. IMO, I think for any student trying to get into a DPT program right now, they should take a gap year. Hope this helps!

    Hi ,
    I found this video very helpful as i will be applying this cycle after i graduate on May 2022.
    I have a question... I will be graduating this May as i mentioned and i just decided to take the DPT route literally when Covid first hit. Therefore as i was attending the university for my bachelor's degree i was also taking few pre reqs at a local college . Anyways prior to this, i have worked as PT tech for an welt know orthopedics clinic here in South Texas for about 2 years. Now i work for a hospital as a patent care tech/ pt. tech and have been working here for more than a year. I also did 2 clinical observations at local rehab clinics one in sports therapy and another in ortho. My grades are good. Not the greatest since lke i mentioned i just decided to even consider a program about 2 years ago. Before this i just wanted to be a high school science teacher so getting a A wasn't my priority. My GPA right now is 3.6 and my pre reqs are good except for chemistry one (which i dropped my freshmen year and took it again to obtain C) i don't plan to take it again. I also managed to get a NASM CPT certification, which goes into depth on how the body moves. I also managed to take additional advance courses that involve the human body such as Mammalian Physiology, Osteology, Sensation and Perception. However, i feel like im lacking other things as university look at the entire topics. What am i missing? Community work? What can i do to give me an all around success.
    Please read , i know its long but you will help me with such a big question im so confused about.

      Berry Tsu yeah I feel that. Whatever is the most optimal. I think sometimes we feel so obligated to go rush into DPT right after undergrad but I realized a year or two off isn’t that bad. What’s 1 to 2 years compared to 20+ years of working, ya know? At the end of the day, we’ll become PTs no matter what or how long it takes

    • @drjustinleedpt

      Jordan hey what’s up Jordan! I think that’s a fair decision to make. If you feel like you can’t get hours and focus on your prerequisites then for sure take a gap year. @drjustinleedpt  Před 4 lety +2

      Berry Tsu like I mentioned below, taking a gap year can be very rewarding and a great way to reflect on your life. It’s also great to get your life straightened out too. If you’re not ready, then take the year!!! It’s worth it and you do not need to feel guilty about taking it 👍
