Jason O'Daniel I have already acknowledged in my previous comment that Gisele doesn't have to worry about certain things that countless others do such as whether or not they can afford to pay the bills or feed their children, but that doesn't make her struggles with her mental health invalid. It is also true that variables such as having a poor SES can affect an individuals mental wellbeing and that those with lower SES are at higher risk of having suicidal ideation. These facts I won't dare contest. I agree that it would be nice to see stories featured on news outlets of other individuals, not only celebrities, speaking out about their struggles with mental health. It will help bring more awareness to the general public and hopefully decrease the amount of stigma. So there are points we agree on. However, Gisele shouldn't be retrained from sharing her experiences as well. She's not profiting from this book, all proceeds will be donated. I won't spend more time and effort discussing this matter with you. Especially since you have decided to resort to Ad Hominem statements. Attacking my character without having any insights of myself as an individual. You are also making such statements toward Gisele, referring to herself as an airhead, whore etc which does nothing to improve your stance.
Silly comment. I'm a veteran and like thousands of others, Transcendental Meditation is the best thing that ever happened to me. There are hundreds of published scientific studies showing how TM helps on every level of life.

I never listened to someone who talked about feeling trapped in small spaces and having panic attacks in such a way that I can relate to. It's something I never talk about but it's comforting to know I'm not alone.

I can relate so much to the panic attacks, mines also started on a bad flight and continued for years, sometimes they comeback but now I deal with it with peace.
Being rich and beautiful doesn't make you less human, we all human, so great of her to share something so intimate.
Ambar M right and being rich and beautiful doesn’t equal a sound state of mind. You can be rich and still be miserable and hit rock bottom, especially when your inner peace is taken over by anxiety, which can lead to a deep depression. This can happen to anyone! No one is exempt.

I can relate. some of us are worriers..some feel undeserving of success...some worry about death and have we lived the life we should be living. I get it.. and we share the same birth month a day apart lol. I understand it perfectly. the loving nature children life. i get it. And good for her. she was able to get out of her head and change her life...the natural way. reconnecting to who we really are is very important. I stopped doing things that didn't make me happy when I turned 30

She's so beautiful. I know a lot of people are like "I don't get it...she's not that unique looking, her nose is big, etc" but for me what's beautiful about her, if it makes sense, is that she looks very "fresh" and youthful. Like there's something that radiates from within that comes off as healthy.
She shines. Definitely. And even though her nose is a little big I think she's gorgeous. She has a beautiful soul and a passion for life and that is very attractive.

I think it's so important for someone like Gisele to talk about mental health because I'm sure a lot of people look at her and say.....well she's rich and gorgeous so what kind of problems could she possibly have? But looks can be very deceiving. I can't help but love her. She's such a beautiful person inside and out and she's extremely down to earth and really cares about people. Money is great to have. I mean we all need it. That's no lie. People who are homeless and living on the streets without medicine. People who are sick and need medication but can't afford health insurance. People who don't have the right health insurance to get the right treatments. So don't ever let anyone tell you money can't buy happiness because it certainly can. Shes very fortunate that she has the money to keep her mental healh in a stable position.But we need our health.... physical and mental to live a wonderful live. I deal with this a lot. I have a severe pain condition throughout my head and body but since I look normal people don't treat me the way I need them to, with understanding. I think we all need to be a little more understanding with each other. This world is lacking empathy and compassion and we need more of it quickly. Thanks Gisele.

Her practice of Transcendental Meditation has been a key for her. Me Too...and Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos also practice TM. It is a life saver...and a joy to practice twice a day.

People who practice TM reduce drug and alcohol use, and stop smoking. TM is now being taught in schools in more than 60 countries around the world. Grade point averages go up, problems and suspensions go down. Graduation rates sky rocket. There are far more doctors and educators promoting TM than celebrities. Why? Because of the proven benefits. Better to know what you are talking about before posting such nonsense.

The best, most sincere and committed Christians, Jews, Buddhists and Muslims I've ever met practice Transcendental Meditation. Why is that? Because by getting deep rest twice a day, and releasing the stresses, they can pursue spiritual growth effortlessly, spontaneously and naturally. And the tendency to get caught up in perpetual fear and hate are released as well. It's a big world, with lots of different cultures and ideas...be kind, be generous, and don't be afraid of all things unique and different than you.

This is the third time she cried while she talked about her suicide attempt in balcony. Also she cried when she revealead this episode to one of Brazilian media. So glad that she spread widely her story, I do understand her so well, I almost did the same thing in the past with poison, now I know this is so wrong. Brave Gisele, she shows to the entire world, that even beautiful woman like her , sometimes feel so lonely and powerless. I love her so much , make all of us Brazilians so proudy. and I am so glad that she did not accept drugs to relief her fears and instead she made amazing changes in her life, I will avoid sugary foods again, and follow her advices . Bye bye chocolates . But I can not dare to cut coffee .
After the birth of my first child I had panic attack, could not go in elevators and the NYC subway was a struggle for me, even cars. It's awful, you can't control it. The wold seams so normal and you feel like you're going to die inside. Awful, awful feeling.

I couldn't agree more. This world is lacking a great deal of compassion for our fellow human beings. We all need to be more understanding and be able to put ourselves in other people's shoes. I wish people did that for me when I needed them to. I had to take the toxic people out of my life.

I can relate to this so well, to the panic attacks, elevators, flying, and closed in spaces, I can relate to all of this, all of this so well, wow i have something, in common with the Queen of soul, and one of the biggest beautiful est supermodels, ever, fears phobia's and panic attacks,
I would have never thought, the best of the best have what I have, wow, now I don't feel weird, and alone anymore.

The comment section is full of comments about how she was always in a postion of privilege and wealth so what rock bottom is she talking about right? But the way l see it people have different struggles. For someone whose income and livelyhood is based on their looks, l cant help but imagine the constant fear of growing old, of being devaluated with each passing year. And i don't think that her having her first attack high up on a plane is a coincidence. Look at the metaphor. As high and as fast as a plane is, it has to come down, and come to a stop. The ride is fleeting. Just like a career in the fashion and acting industry. Or even in the media where they love to build you up and tear you down just as fast. It's a confining position. Like being in a golden cage of narcissim. The money is good but the adulation and fame fading must be hard.

I just want to put out there that I have many illnesses. I have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome which is the highest ranking pain condition in medical history and I've had it for 14 years. My life ended 14 years ago and I've just been existing in a world of pain and isolation. Because of this I suffer from depression and anxiety. I know what it's like to want to die. To not want to feel anymore physically or emotionally. I also have OCD. Pretty sure I was born with that. If anyone wants to talk I'm here. I'm not able to do much physically but I can always listen and be there for someone. This world is lacking a lot of understanding and compassion. Because I'm not bleeding from every part of my body people don't think I'm sick. I've even had family turn against me because they don't believe I'm sick. Well you can't see ignorance and stupidity either but it exists right? Haha. My friend who HAD my disease which is known as the suicide disease, took her life three years ago. The doctors told us both that there is nothing that can be done for us and with a condition like this our futures are as good as gone. I don't know how much longer I am going to last. But if anyone ever needs to talk I want you to know I'm here. No judgements. I think we all need to start supporting each other so some of us have a chance at getting better. Lots of love and hope to everyone.
