"Super has God ki" what the fuck does that even mean, I know what God ki is but that is such an arbitrary "positive" choice. There is little to no visual difference and even though it's explained to have a difference never in the story does having God ki matter at all, Hit doesn't have God ki but whopped Vegeta's blue haired God ass and if you're talking about how it's divine or something then that goes into the God transformations.
"More universe's" makes no sense we just know there are more of them, we never explore them or see any kind of plot stemming from those other universes. We just see their warriors fight in a tournament so there was not point in even bringing that up.
"Good voice acting" yeah sure I'll give you that fair enough. Super is bad and it has always been bad. You know it's bad, deep down you and all the other super fans know this is true, Dragon ball is 10/10 and dragon Ball z is 9/10 it has moments of being poorly written or being overly long but it is nowhere near just how nonsensical super is. It can be entertaining and if you like it that's fine but humans have the ability to look at something and be objective about it. I have a list of what I believe are the top 50 greatest movies ever made, but I also have a completely separate list of what are my favorite 50 movies ever made there alot of shared movies between these two lists but about 45% of my favorite movies don't even sniff a list of the top 100 greatest movies ever made. I leave my bias out, you'll never see me attempt make an argument that "My cousin Vinny" or "Spaceballs" is anywhere near Nightcrawler or Goodfellas. Gt was bad too but it had a great transformation and since it was kind of it's only strength the fact that is focused on it was nice.

Exactly. Dbs fantards consistently ignore these basic issues and go on to claim that dbz had scaling issues too. Honestly in dbz, apart from the second half of frieza saga where people sorta randomly catch up to frieza, the rest was completely sorted and intact.
Also 17 never showed up to help against Buu. Even Tien showed up. If someone says 17 sat in hiding as Buu destroyed the world, that ain't gonna work.

Off-screen training is a justifiable excuse for certain genres, especially genres focusing on martial arts like DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter x Hunter, and others I'm not aware of. However, and this should be common sense, there is definitely a limit to how much power/strength a person should be ALLOWED to obtain by training off-screen and/or during a fight. Example - Hunter X Hunter when Gon finally lets loose against Pitou, he gets an otherworldly power-up but the consequences of said power-up were just unreal to the point where, yes, the power was great but no one in their right mind would ever want it the quick way if it leads to being essentially an emaciated corpse-like sack of failing flesh and organs incapable of doing anything shortly afterwards. Another example - Yu Yu Hakusho during the Tournament of Darkness Arc in the first round, Hiei has to use a taboo technique in order to win his match but in doing so lost the use of his right arm for half the arc, and any attempts to use said arm resulted in immense pain on physical/metaphysical levels. My point is, sudden power-ups are fine, even off-screen training that results in power-ups are fine, but there must be a logical negative counter-balance or LOGICAL consequences to people getting those power-ups. The Dragon Ball franchise does barely any of this.

He did have sort of a plot device with the blutz waves machine, but it still kept within established rules. What I don't know is how the hell Goku used the earth in place of the moon?!

The writing is bad:
So many character feel over the top and out of place. Like those bug sisters. The look out of place, they act out of place, and in a tournament that is going to decide the fate of every universe, their non-serious attitude is out of place.
Every dilemma is shortly solved with no payoff or a very unfulfilling payoff. It's usually a 5 minute dilemma with forced tension.
Boring things are focused on and good bits are usually short lasting.
Too anime like. The reason why DBZ was popular was because it didn't feel or sound like an anime. The characters spoke naturally. They had unique and cool personalities. Great character development and motivations. The story of DBZ was never great. It was always the same thing ever saga, but because of the great writing all across the board, it always felt fresh. DBS has a lot of anime cringe in it.
You don't have DB without good writing. You have a half-assed cash in.
I'm finally reading the OG dragon ball after finishing the moro arc and I gotta say... they shouldn't have continued after z. It's was perfectly fine the way it was.
Alot of character arcs got some type of closure, they're barely any loose ends, the story felt finish. The last time the series tried to continue... we got...GT...
Honestly, the only good things that came from super was ultra instinct. Everything else is just mediocre or bad.

Super sucks, its missing the edgyness & brutality of Z. It feels like a completely different show, everything is a joke from the story to the characters to the artstyle
@@dipperjr7696The saving grace for GT is that they didn't try to shoehorn it in as just picking up where Z left off, instead putting it after the timeskip and in a modified setting that felt like it had some originality, with new characters and new dynamics. It is, and feels, like a spin-off, being self-contained, with minimal retcons from or inconsistencies with the manga canon. GT is not nearly so bad as many would like to think.
DBS tries to be "just more Z" but fails and is all the more disappointing for it.
I will say this forever, but SSG should NOT have had ANY form beyond it. The design was unique, the potential it first displayed seemed boundless and the way it was introduced (in the movie) was great. It brought a whole new light to Goku that I thought I'd never see; that even with all the training in the world, there were still heights (Beerus) that he couldn't reach on his own. He had to sacrifice his pride and ask for help from his friends and family in order to obtain a new power that he otherwise never would have. This form, to me, would have been great to build upon and the series could have at least fleshed it out more and make Goku's goal to master it for a while instead of throwing new form after new form in our faces every 20 episodes or so. And by far the absolute WORST thing that Super does when it comes to transformations is making each and every form before the latest one basically obsolete. Like, what would be the point of Goku ever having to go SSJ again when he can just turn Blue? It's so fucking stupid. You know what would have made sense imo? If SSG was the ceiling and it was so incredibly hard to control and maintain that Goku would even rather try using SSJ3 first before resorting to SSG.

It's funny that most people haven't figured out Gokus character. He is training his comrades not fighting them. He even trained kefla(which helped him 're unlock ultra instinct I guess that's what happens when your selfless) but are they really stronger than blue? Didn't everyone stop when Goku vs Jiren started? Anyway I didn't state the powerscaling in my comment for the actual video because u can't trust powerscaling in a fight involving Goku. He's been that way since the beginning. Watch db Goku vs tien if u don't believe me.

The writing is garbage, but not the powerscaling. Powerscaling just takes the feats shown in the anime or manga to determine how strong a charcater is. For example if they made yamcha beat jiren at full power that would be just bad writing. Powerscaling would just take that feat to determine how strong yamcha is.

Au contraire, DBZ had more talking than fighting, too much tension. DBS was fast paced but lacked some more tension that made you fathom what's to come.

Me too. The character's development is so poor, the dialogues are pointless and so bad. At DBZ, Vegeta changed from a Saiyan warrior to a earthling, and at the end he realizes that Goku is better. Even Goku changed from a naive man to a warrior who can sacrifice himself to protect his family and friends. But now Vegeta is just a rival, again, and Goku is a naiver man, my gosh.
i feel you... though part of it is from nostalgia.. i woudnt be ranting if i ddnt love dbz.. my biggest complaint is the animation of fights and their feats.. back in the saiyan saga, vegeta and goku fighting caused a lot of damage to the environment because it is implied they are that strong.. so as the series progresses, they get several significant power ups. whats disappointing me is that the level of intensity in the fight is still the same.. so if we are to compare saiyan saga goku and vegeta to today's goku and vegeta, it would be like, comparing a toy car with a monster truck.. but we are still seeing toy car battles...

Not only does DB Super lack story, writing and good character development, but it's sorely lacking the original animation style, color grain and outlines that Tadayoshi Yamamuro, Naotoshi Shida, Masaki Satô and others provided for Dragon Ball and DBZ. The animations in DB Super are seriously hard to watch.
The tournament was bad. They had a whole new planet of sayains and managed to make it suck. They also made 12 different universes for what. The Universe is huge. They have different dimensions let alone universes. Was there any need. And the tournament sucked big time. Wont be watching any more that comes from dragonball.

Despite how many lessons Goku learned or obstacles he overcame, he would still slip back to his 12 year old self’s personality should the story call for it. That’s perhaps the biggest problem in all of Dragon Ball franchise as plot and characters are very story-dominated. Goku absorbed the power of Super Saiyan God into his base form becoming one of the most powerful beings in his universe. But if you ever need to take him out, just shoot him through his heart with a man-made laser and….that’s it.

Tien is probably the exception since he trains without fail. It would have been cool to see new crane school techniques and he could actually keep up as far as human can, better than a gohan who doesnt train, and a krillin that doesnt train.

Episode 131 made Goku an hero for sheer luck... out of nowhere I'd say; and the writers have made Goku's motivations (and actions) for the tournament really selfish and unsympathetic, if they really wanted him to be heroic, they should've made him KNOWING Zeno's ill will towards all of the universes, thus wanting the t.o.p. as a mean to prove all of them to be worthy in those 2 tards' eyes and to wish with the s.d.b. the safety of everyone regrdless.
But instead, what we got is the most basic and simple storyline in all the dragon ball franchise, and it's not even good if you think about it.

In short, the ki, general strength, and power scaling is written absolutely atrocious. It all goes back to DB's biggest problem, the power creep. And the result of trying to keep characters relevant throughout the show through means of inexplicable power boosts and such. This problem for Dragon Ball could have been avoided entirely if they had just written the ki, general strength, and power scaling better.
I honestly don't understand people who start watching DB.
The structure is the exact same since the very first episode:
Bad guy arrives to earth; Bad guy only being bad because plot needs him to be bad; Bad guy killing main characters; Goku mad; Goku screams/trains; Goku has a new form; Goku is not winning against the villain instantly but gets the job done after 12+ episodes; dead characters are reincarnated so their death has no meaning whatsoever.
Repeat. That is the problem I have with DB personally. I can exactly tell what is going to happen every single arc.

The sad part is about these arbitrary nonsensical power-ups everyone's getting is that Super's been shitting on Tien, the one guy who you'd think would be justified (to a small degree) getting somewhat of a boost in strength. All he ever does is train, but for some fucking reason he's weaker than everyone, even Roshi who was established to be useless at the start of DBZ is more powerful than Tien.
By all rights, Tien should be the strongest human, but no, in Toriyama's dumbass mind, because Krillin's Goku's best friend he must be the strongest human, he's gotta be. *Sigh.*
Frustrating. They could've easily had the human characters train *ON-SCREEN* using the time chamber instead of nonsensically reserving it for Vegeta and Goku. Even if aging an issue, they can potentially bypass that by having Shenlong grant them longevity so they can train for those days and weeks that would equal years in the Time Chamber without worrying about getting old, so that way, when they scale up to like 40% of Goku's power it doesn't feel jarring.
I also think they revealed Super Saiyan God WAY TOO early. They should've diverged from the movie instantly and just portrayed a benevolent Beerus who decides to spare their planet because he sees the potential for growth.
Speaking of Frieza, he's a missed opportunity. That would've been a perfect chance for world-building. They could've shown his home planet and how much higher gravity it has in comparison to Earth and Planet Vegeta combined, to the point the inhabitants don't have to train. They're just naturally strong because of the planet's higher gravity. Granted, I understand that would be mean there would be other Friezas, (which could oppose a problem in of itself) but they could bypass that by saying not everyone's just born evil, some are good.
It would've beat just levelling Frieza up just because Goku needs a villain to fight.
They also should've shown Frieza being revived at the beginning of the series and going off to some planet or his own with measurements and plot devices to help him increase his power. That would've built tension and given justification as to why he improves so drastically.

I re read the original Dragon ball manga multiple times and realized how well written it is. Every arc seamlessly transitions into one another, they were exiting, the power scaling made sense, the stakes were high, the fights were amazing, the transformations were earned foreshadowed and made sense and the characters developed thorough the story.
I'm not saying that Dragon Ball is perfect or has no flaws because that isnt true but it is a greatly written story.
I can't really say the same thing about Dragon ball Super. I think the movies are good for the most part but DBS itself I can't really say the same thing. What pisses me off is Frieda the most. How does someone who was dead for so long to just come back and in a few months time he is more powerful than all super Saiyan forms and god forms. Like what? He wasn’t training while dead like Goku did. He was being tied and tormented. Yet now he is super strong ? Broly literally in one movie catches Goku and Vegeta IN LESS THAN THREE HOURS!!!! With zero formal martial arts training and being TRAINED BY GODS!!! Why have a ki called god ki that can’t be sensed by regular mortals just to make mortals stronger ANYWAY???!!!!!

And the mortals rivaling god ki is because a big part of supers theme as a series is mortals showing that gods aren’t different from them

it could be because since mortals cant sense god ki, if goku went like ssj2 or ssj3 krillin would probably feel even more intimidated with that gigantic overflow of ki, yet with ssb he would just feel the pressure. Also, in SSB goku has more precise ki control than his non god ki forms so he wont accidently kill krillin. It was silly in some respects though
I've seen many excuses saying how blue is basically ki control and that in blue he can raise and lower his power level however he wants.
I just love how the show takes Goku's love of fighting to such a degree that he's willing to destroy not only his universe, but other universes and countless lives just to fight a strong opponent, a real step up from DBZ where he twice refused Vegata AND Freeza's offer for mindless destruction for friends & family. Way to crap on a childhood hero for the sake of today's dumbass kids!
It's just like the new Spiderman where he's retconned as Iron Man's teen sidekick; you know a beloved character has finally reached the level of awesomeness he so rightly deserved when a fat cop asks: "Are you the new Iron Man"? Bravo.

MCU spider-man =/= marvel comics spider-man =/= sony spider-man. Retcon must only be tied to its own universe for it to really be called a retcon and in MCU its already established that spider-man here starts off as a sort of, as you say “Ironman’s teen sidekick” but as shown in the new movies, spider-man has moved away from that angle.
Anyway with that being said. I do agree with what you think about dbs and its retcon

I would have been a lot more forgiving toward that if the explanation was that android 17 was just barely SSj3 scale of power after over 10 years of training. Which apparently is where 17's power scale is at least in the manga of DBs. But there is no rational or legitimate excuse for his inexplicable SS Blue scale of power.

To me DBS isnt good because to me it simply isn't handled with care. DB and DBZ are my all time favorite anime but I'm able to recognize that it has it's problems. It's got it's bad animations, bad plotholes, etc. however I can at the very least sit down and enjoy it without it all being so noticeable. I think it was because that was much more of a real attempt to tell a story and entertain. Even GT is better to me for that reason. Maybe it's just me but Super just takes the cliche/stereotypical parts of DB and the Shounen franchise as a whole and just cranks it up to 9,001. There's no real compelling story to me anymore. I don't feel like this is a real attempt to show what Goku, the Z fighters and co. have actually been up to in the time between the defeat of Kid Buu and the epilogue at the end of Z. This all seems like a cash grab to me. All of these retcons, new forms, new characters (which a lot of are slightly new spins on old characters), new abilities, etc. seem very much to me like it's just pandering to fans. I'm all for listening to fans, but I feel like this is almost an improvised fan written story just to give some people what they want to see for some dollars. To me it isn't genuine. I honestly do feel that if this show didn't have the name Dragon Ball on it, or maybe if the characters didn't look like the ones we love(d) or had thier names, that anyone would actually watch or keep up with something this inconsistent. Personally the only reason I still follow is because of that... Idk. I'm just Dan though. Let me know what you guys think

As a huge dragon ball fan , i agree with you. The reason why Dragon ball and dragon ball z were great because it was written by akira toriyama and his manga is just godly. But DBS is below average.
There are a lot of bad things in super :
- For animation I blame toei for handling things poorly.
- Story is below average because there are multiple writers in DBS. Akira toriyama just gives TOEI & Toyotaro a summary of the arc(for example : goku and vegeta turning SSB and defeating frieza) then TOEI's own writers expand it and make it into half an hour episode and Toyotaro also writes his own story that's why the manga and anime are different. The common things which appear in both the Manga and Anime are Toriyama ideas.
- DBZ anime was great because it was following Toriyama's manga, But DBS anime is poorly written because it has multiple writers.

Nayeem Haider, the manga of Super and AF are the only good continuation of the events after Z, and the only good events after the Z anime series is the Super Dragon Ball Heroes series.
Dragon Ball Z has mistakes that is true but what it had to offer and how good the show was; like the character development, the badass heros and villains, epic fights with blood and good chemistry its what saved it and it was forgiven by all DBZ fans. DBS is not forgiven. Dbs is show that should be non canon
