Hey Grateful Dead admin, go to your settings on youtube studio and turn off mid roll ads, this is under the monetization tab on the left side. Jerry is rolling over in his Grave. It's not your fault, youtube added mid roll adds to all videos now as of august 2020, Please turn this setting off, we can handle the commercial at the beginning or end but not mid roll. It kills the vibe
Thanks for the feedback Craig we'll be doing just that.
Craig Holliday You could purchase CZcams Premium and not ever have to deal with commercials ruining the vibe or any vibe. It’s well worth the pittance you pay.
Are you familiar with this version & if so I’d like to hear your thoughts…. czcams.com/video/3tLJep40Mlw/video.html
David mentions this being in the “jerry ballad slot”. I’m curious what the other slots were. Thanks!
That we lost Brent 20 days later ...... we miss and love you brother
RIP Brent, loved his work and voice!
When Jerry’s face was covered in shadow, but you could make out the crows feet on the sides of his eyes you knew he was smilin. And with that smile you knew everything was gonna be just fine, no matter where your trip was headed. Jerry bled the light. He was the beacon that steered your trip. God bless ya big guy. You are so, SO missed.💀⚡️🌹
This was the day i was born! And Daddy sat down and cried
Nobody played guitar like Garcia. People can copy him but he created this sound.
I believe Brent was their greatest keyboardist. He had such beautiful energy, especially between He and Jerry.
Brent was the best, he had his detractors but to me he was Pigpen, Kieth and Donna all rolled into one man when they it needed it most
i think brent is the more accomplished keys player of the lot, however i think early keith had the best piano tone, because it was well... a real piano. not to take away from brents electric piano.
brent definitely had the most magic to offer.
@@Acolis Brent's B3 Hammond organ work was untouchable IMO
I been following the Dead for as long as I can remember. 1972 was my first concert and I feel that Brent is the MAN!
Yes and nobody could follow him and I think it destroyed everybody who came after
This song is like having a conversation with a dude that has been around the block more then once . GOD thank you for the great full dead
Sober since 12/27/2014. Love this song.
12)30)1999...
Power and Peace brother....awesome!
Btw sober friend 7525 days , , , I count 'em for 24 hours at a time is star a d rain
Friend looking for a WHARF RAT MEETING can ya help me out?
Nice!
So beautiful... RIP Jerry & Brent ❤️🌺
Peace of mind durring these times
Man!! for real!!! I still feel just as young as i did!!!! But It was a beautiful era, of great music, and good friends of all colors, didn't matter to us what race or religion anyone was. As long as you were kind n good hearted. Look at everyone today!!!
@@rosebud1958 , for sure ....anything for just one mid 80's show right now .
I'd love a show of all the stuff I didn't like back then like space, drums, and even a "Me and my Uncle"" thrown in. You know what I mean?
I can watch 1990 summer shows all day long. Man he looks good.
Are you kidding? Jerry and Brent are fucking gacked here.
@@andrewdomonic6603 True, Jerry looks so old for a man not even 50, and Brent is soooooo f*cked up here, sadly.
First show. Changed my life.
You were blessed, then. Because 89'-90' magic was strong.
My first show as well.
Mine too. The cops were out that day it seemed like they wanted to arrest the entire audience and maybe the band
Same. I was 19 yrs old
Listening closely - picking up bob's power in the background of augmenting and extending Jerry's brilliance - emotionally
hes louder in the mix than everybody sooo
By 90 Bob was really driving the bus for the band onstage. Phil brilliant bass runs had dried up. Jerry was still coming over the top but only when inspired - poor Brent looks gacked outta his mind. I loved being there
I tend to like Bob songs, but Jerry really did this one proud
@@missyounorm33 just not true
I love this Wharf Rat. I love Jerry.
Jerry makes it look soooo easy. He never gets those intense and screwed up kind of expressions that so many lead guitarists do. Nothing wrong with them doing that at all, but it shows their intense concentration whereas Jerry's playing just seem effortless. I think it's magic.
Don't get me wrong but Jerry wouldn't mind making a mistake or two on lead guitar but would be cool and relaxed about it. I'm a huge fan of Jerry and Grateful Dead. Adore them the way they are.
He was pure magic, brother
I listened to an interview with Jerry. He said he wanted to be remembered as a competent musician. DONE
lmao True. I'm a Robin Trower fan. Great faces.
Gotta be honest but don’t they all look like some regular guys out hanging around a corner store?? But the looks are deceiving. . Truly masters of the art
3 years without touchin' drugs had begun to show their results.... Jerry in perfect shape. I wish he could keep going in that way
God damn Jerry’s voice soothes the soul
The Grateful Dead save the lives of the best in humanity
I was at this show. Great version of a powerful song.
We all were man
Fantastic drums from Bill and Mickey.
Totally captivating. Why? Why? Why? Is it all of those pickups on Jerry's guitar getting him that fat distorted tone? Is it the visual of Micky's drums shaking? Maybe Brent's intense and far away look? Bob's concentration, deep and serious as ever? Bill's prize fighter gum chewing pattern? Maybe Phil's tone and restraint on such a delicate tune? They seem to capture the inherent ethereality of this song very well in this performance. Thank you The Grateful Dead.
Had rarely heard that fat a tone from Garcia since the 60's
Dude. Right on
It's a combo f diamarzio super distortion 2's
And a boss super overdrive
It was totally Brent!
"everyone said" @ 3:24.... What a capture in time. Brent sneaks in vocal harmony... Jerry- youge grin:
Cheers!
Nice spot bro.. nice
When brent died. So did jerry. The real beginning of the end
Like Jerry losing a son
@@PaulCahill-et4dmyes !!!!
Great tune. I saw the Dead & Co last night. I always forget what that moment feels like when all the pieces fall together and the crowd is in sync with the music. It really is a religious experience.
Too bad you missed the Jerry/Brent years... Magical...
@@Dancinbear1995 yah, no doubt. I did get a taste. I've seen a lot of live music over the years but the Dead got it; like in terms of synchronicity with surroundings, music, and audience.
Greatest band to ever do it, ever.
Nothing captures the grit of mid-twentieth-century San Francisco like Wharf Rat.
❤️🦋❤️🦋❤️🦋❤️ it is a song of life that saved so many lives in continues to save lives right now
Thanks Jerry. Your artistry means a lot to me
I was at this show! Love this song so much. It has so much meaning in my life. It touches me every time I hear it.
Me too
Will anybody ever sound this good again for me ?!?!?!?
Never again will you or I have a Grateful Dead experience. It is sad and almost got me in a terrible twist when I was twenty in 1970 because I had a personal experience with this band. Couldn't move on as long as they were my muses so I divorced them for twenty years and listened to other genres ONLY. Classical was my favorite for years, but guess what? I went back to listening to the Dead anyway..never get them OUT of my soul~
Billy Strings. Not Jerry, but....
Nope. Not ever.
I was there, one of my favorite Dead experiences. I like in this version when Jerry takes a solo after the fly away line .
Rad... I never noticed that
Man look how Brent feels it at 4:53... he knew the life he was living was no good
Absolutely...what a haunting moment all things considered....RIP Brent
His voice cracking during the fly always breaks my heart
So much emotion
@@rjbubba203 felt through music, the oldest human art form, primal emotion
@@rjbubba203 you can feel it brother
Classic still jamming to this in 2023
This summer tour changed my life for the better.
Brent knows how to make fingers fly, this man was great
Love them!!! I attended my first show at 17. I was able to bring my 17 year old son to see Dead and Company!!! Will be missed❤️❤️❤️
Bill looks like he's exploring time and space back there
Same as Mickey. Just there going with the flow
The original Grateful Dead🙏💖👣
It was sure a hot day. My first show. Unforgettable.
I could talk about that show for hours. The lot was crazy. The cops here in Louisville were out in force.
So much soul & emotion. I was there and still have vivid memories.
Yes this particular concert meant a lot considering everyone I was with is no longer here, except in spirit. Love to all. Don’t give up the journey. Bob certainly hasn’t. It’s his time to shine like never before, with a brilliance never to be reinvented
Wow! I was there, had a great show met some locals who had a nice house party and turned me and my crew onto some awesome bluegrass by a local hero. Wish I could remember the Artist.
*Good Times*
Well good morning, august good to see ya!
Oh how I misss the summers from 89-95
do you often get up and fly away to those times..
Why not after those years?
I was at this scorcher of a show, and very close to the stage. It was so blazing hot...had to go get soaked at intermission. Thankfully there was a water spigot on the turf. Crazy day. Great time.
Was there too--hot day, great time indeed! Drove from Florida.
I was there, up along the third base line. Gatewood Galbreath was sitting right behind me. What a blast!
Me too ! 4th row in front of Jerry and Brent , the best show I saw out of 130 or so, what an amazing day.
Remember the water spigot...got under it myself. Was an unbelievably beautiful day!
first three notes. goosebumps.
6:45 love it when mickey taps the hair..
I was like 7 months old, not knowing how much of an impact Jerry would have on me later in life. Amazing ❤
#keepingtheculturealive #wemissyoujerry #wemisssyoubrent
The best years right here when they where with Brent man.
Oh MAN!! THIS has got to be one of, if not THE BEST versions I have heard!! So CLEAN! SO, ummm, FLOWING, just ON! MAN I MISS THE SHOWS!!! And NOT just the lot and the heads!! That was ALWAYS secondary to music like this!! ALWAYS0!!!
Congrats! Sober from hard liquor the past five days... Living thru hell! But the Dead and all their forms and facets of offspring bands give me strength! Jerry gives me strength! I only wish I knew him enuff to hug him once! I can only imagine that hug would have imparted wisdom, heart, healing, and a tremendous amount of love into my soul! Fckn love u Uncle J!!! U r the father I nvr had.... Brings me to tears considering the parallels of our addiction... I just wish I was born earlier.. Maybe we cud have crossed paths, related, became friends, and helped each other......Jerry!...u are a loved and appreciated master... Gone too soon! I jst pray u know yer impact now and how many struggling common people believe in u still!!! soak in yer art and are elevated by it! Fckn love u Uncle J! You have guided the younger generation soo much! Atleast the intellectual of my generation... We need you! We want u bck! Thnx to Phil, Bob, and Mikey for carrying on yer legacy.. If i had a time machine I'd use it to meet u backstage late 70s era....and thank you Big Steve for carrying the torch! U r an amazing man! I pray to the Dead every night night! Godfathers of love, acceptance, peace, serenity, and jst plain good feelings..
Masters of our reality. 🙏🙏🙏😁
Oh Jerry, your voice....
3:26 the way Jerry looks over at Brent. Super great vibes between the two. i believe when Brent died . The beginning of the end for Jerry.
IWT, monster version, incredible show, thanks 👍
I can't get out to the shows any longer. Thanks to y'all for posting some sweetness!
Holy moly that was good!,
Thank you David
Great memories 💛⚡️🎶☮️
Awesome
I'll get up and fly away.
Happy days heads 😢
I love the way they play together! Esp Brent and Jerry ❤
Isn’t it impressive that these guys belt it out but with little or no enthusiasm??? They’re so relaxed on stage. Awesome!!!
It's an illusion. Jerry was scared Stiff Everytime That He Performed.
@@Fictius that’s not true. He was only scared if performed alone. But still he never faltered.
@@calburge4338 Let's agree to disagree.
Well, um...not sure why their concentration and discipline and intention to become a single musical unit and not just six guys playing each individually, obscures for you their passion.
5:10. 20 days later brother Brent would be gone. RIP.
One of many incredible songs!
Stunning.
This is the best version
I love this song! Story telling at its finest.
My first show
Grateful...🙏✨💖🎶
One of my very favorites plus others of course ! ❤️🐰🐇🐦🔥🐲🐉👻💀☠️⚡️🎶🤩😇🥳😍😘🥰😱love him forever until I die
Chills and all the feels.
First show! Much love💓💓💓
I’ll get a new start, livin like…I should. So that’s what I did like Phoenix outta the ashes. Thanx GD for the life-long ride!!
So good!
I miss you sooo much Brent! I was 19 when you passed and I was fortunate to had seen you perform a few times as a touch of grey head!
I will take care of your Daughter for you, I just inherited some rental properties.
RIP BRENT
Ads? Really?
Poor form. you cant interrupt Warf Rat like that. Booo.
That's why the pros pay for the ad free version. 😎
Jeffrey Lorien nah, real pros use adblock
I’m just thankful that these shows were filmed with such high quality so that they can be enjoyed time and time again for generations to come.
“Ive been doing time, for some other fuckers crime...” then an add.
@@politicaholland3380 tell me more about this ad block? Can u use on phone?
whew boyyy Brent is keyed up
Bravo!!!
I love how he builds up the two note A's and G's and riffs of the Asus2 chords fingerpicking and then pulls out the pick to get the versus rocking in Em, Asus2 and even turns to the band to get the rhythm perfect after the first verse. Just exactly perfect. This is what set Jerry apart from all the rest IMO. He was a master of the fretboard and rhythm.
Fellow guitar player, hello 👋
Usually Em is a stress cord with a major cord to release the tension. Here Em is releasing the tension from Asus2. One of a kind!
Thanksss...!!!
Freakin killer version. Killer.
I was at this one too!!! Love this song 🎵 ❤️ 💕
Love the dead..dead head forever!!!
The Popeye black and white cartoon episode when Olive Oyl speaks encouragingly to the limp flower, " Wake up, Little Rose Bud, Wake up", comes to mind. 🎸🥀🌹🦋
Cool!!!
pure magic
Miss Jerry
I got no dime but I got some time to hear his story...
This is music. Turn it up! ❤⚡
THE BEST Wharf Rat. IMO
Keep Rocking,!
Jerry had so many stories to tell by now. He had seen it all by this time. Was time to move on. RIP
ah actually was at this show, "hot one" in more ways than one
Bill on drums: "I came here to do two things: kick a$$, and chew bubble gum, and I'm all out of bubblegum. Wait, no I'm not...I'll just do both then."
Love that 😂
I feel this A LOT right now.. today
Fantastic version. Greetings from Denver, all. Ross True Blue
Pure love
I still talk to the girl i was there with. Wow we are getting old
The guitar solo was perfect.
Amen my friend!👍❤️
RIP Brent
