In 'Cadeaux at the Chateau', all of the inhabitants of the Chateau de Lalande gather together to open beautiful gifts that people have sent from all over the world. All of the monetisation from these videos will be donated to a different charity each month. CZcams earnings fluctuate wildly each month, as ad revenue changes throughout the year. Here are the charities that we've donated to so far:

I used to show the gifts as part of ' @The Chateau Diaries ' episodes, but you're all so very generous that we have many gifts, and if we spent the episodes opening them, we wouldn't be able to show you other aspects of chateau life! So, for those of you who enjoy watching presents being opened, and as a way to thank those of you who were kind enough to send them, I've made this new channel. Every week we will film your beautiful gifts whilst enjoying afternoon tea or aperitif together.
It is very important to me that you know that we in no way expect anyone to send us gifts. I would like to go further than that and add that, if doing so will put you in any financial difficulty whatsoever, please, please do not send us anything. Knowing that you join us by watching 'The Chateau Diaries' gives us all an enormous boost. But for those of you who have sent these incredibly thoughtful gifts, I hope that seeing us open them gives you a fraction of the joy that you've given us 💖💖💖

I'll be checking out Micheal's fundraiser. When I was at Lalande and told Amaury that my asthma inhaler in the US cost 300$ he was rightfully appalled - the same inhaler was 8$ at a French pharmacy. It's hard for the rest of the world to imagine what American's have to pay for basic healthcare much less catastrophic care - even with insurance. I just want to point out that last Christmas you featured some clips of Isabelle and Percy giving food and gifts to the homeless in South Africa. I was so moved by this. And equally moved by the video of Gerald attending the art show of another charity recipient. I would love to see more Chateau Unwrapped content about the charities you support. It's important work you're doing with this channel.
The reason the cost is so high in the USA is we are the only country that allows pharmaceutical companies to recoup development costs. Therefore we pay outrageous amounts for medication so the rest of the world doesn’t have to.

A year ago I paid $50/for my combivent inhaler. This year they wanted $300. I feel like we are paying for the pandemic through our so called insurance.

I really feel bad for you.. can't imagine to have to raise money so i could have surgery. I think America sucks in that matter for sure!!! When stephanie said this i was so angry .. When I worked at the body shop in Australia 20ish years ago we had a motto of ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’. We had to ask customers if they ‘needed’ a bag to try and prompt them to think about it. It’s always stuck with me!
in europe everything is recycled. can’t just throw it into dumpster.
In the states we learn that in school around Earth day! The 3 R’s. Reduce, Reuse and ♻️ Recycle.

I started “regifting” two years ago. Told my family they would not be getting new gifts, but things I’ve had for years that would be theirs eventually anyway. They love it, even the grand kids. So, the cadeau reminds me of that. And it’s another “re” to add to reuse, recycle, etc.

I still collect vintage and new quality writing paper and enjoy long distance correspondence with treasured friends. I learned to love quality paper and proper letter writing at a job using typewriters many years ago. There’s nothing quite so beautiful as a well written letter on soft stationery .

Years ago I had a rock climbing partner who imported fresh herb and truffles from France into Toronto for the fine restaurants. He would go to the airport and pick up the herbs and the Truffles and if any of the truffles were not restaurant-quality he would give me one. He would hand me a little black ball wrapped up in tinfoil. We climbed at an indoor Climbing Gym in Toronto and after climbing on Wednesday nights we would walk across the street to the Real Jerk which is a very famous Jamaican restaurant in Toronto. We went every Wednesday night for 10 years so I was well known by the staff. One night post climbing after being given the truffle in tinfoil we were sitting in the restaurant and I had the tinfoil open and I was cutting the truffle in half in order to share it with a friend. The waitress walked up to our table, saw what I was doing and made the craziest face. Upon seeing her face I quickly realized that she didn't know I was cutting a black truffle and she thought I was doing a drug deal by cutting a piece of black hash in the restaurant. I quickly told her it wasn't what she was thinking and explained that it was a truffle. We didn't get thrown out of the restaurant or arrested. I think all Nanaimo bars should have a side order of insulin they are such a sweet treat. Merry Christmas from Toronto
