- Marking the end of their main running season for the year, the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway put on a show for their annual 'End of Season Parade'. To ensure the season ended with a bang, the day featuring no fewer than 6 steam locomotives in operation, alongside resident Diesel No12, all rubbing shoulders with visiting "Shelagh of Eskdale" from the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway.
The event featured a variety of services pounding RH&DR metals. The start of the day was marked with a double-headed parallel run from New Romney to Hythe, before normal service took over with regular passenger trains throughout the day, and frequent double-heading, including the "Peter Rothschild Thank You Non-stop Express". No4 "The Bug" made a rare appearance over the full line length, working a solo trip from New Romney to Hythe, before leading the multi-header down to Dungeness and back to New Romney with three other locomotives to mark the end of a successful day.
Locomotives:
RH&DR Pacific Class - No8 "Hurricane"
RH&DR Pacific Class - No1 "Green Goddess"
RH&DR Mountain Class - No5 "Hercules"
RH&DR Mountain Class - No6 "Samson"
RH&DR Pacific Class - No2 "Northern Chief"
RH&DR Bug Class - No4 "The Bug"
RH&DR Diesel Class - No12 "J.B. Snell"
R&ER Diesel Class - "Shelagh of Eskdale"
All footage filmed on Saturday the 26th of October 2019.
Not hard to see why it's my favourite railway in the world :) Thanks for the post.
Top video! I feature in the last clip, opposite platform near the bridge. Another great performance from the RHDR.
Great video!!!
And great team to film, edit & publish in such a short time.
You did this today!
And last shot was susset.
I'm 3 hours difference and having the great pleasure of watching it.
Thanks tons!!!!
👏👍👏👍👏👍👏
Cheers
What an amazing end of Season event...Superbly captured, although my heart was in my mouth watching those locos at speed on that very uneven track....Regards...Bob
Like I've just explained, it's a very safe railway and its quite smooth and not at all bumpy
Great video, whenever u record these I often see you as I'm a local and often ride all the train galas and convoys
Thanks very much. Do give us a wave next time.
Rock & Roll high speed on kinky track, that was scary watching!!!!! Some cracking shots, nice one👍
Great collection of steam action, can't wait until next April - May 2020 coming from Australia. Looking forward to being able to grab some great steam action. Thanks for sharing Cheers Richard.
0:34 holy heck that was a very whistlehappy experience!🤣🤣
Амран👍🤣🤣🤣🤫🤣
What a fantastic railway. It puts full size Heritage lines in the shade with their 25mph limit. I should have subscribed earlier.
Looks like bug 4 is bouncing away on the track and looks like it’s in party mood
What a great video! The BUG multi-header was a highlight for me, looked like great fun!! Thanks for posting your efforts.
Thanks very much! A first for this parish, to see The Bug out on the line. It did not disappoint.
The railway seems to have very bumpy track
It looks like it on camera but in real life it really isn't and it's quite a smooth journey
Really cool seeing the bug on its own, funny to think a big engine is probably already coming to fetch the bug when he ends up stopping
And great track view of the race between engines 1 8 and 5 and 6
Great footage of this amazing railway, although I sometimes wonder how the locos manage to stay on the wobbly tracks, doesn't seem to bother the drivers tho! Thanks. Ken
The drivers are given seasickness pills when they sign on.
@@billcobbett9259. Haha Bill, that's good!
It'd be hard to estimate the huge amount of pleasure this little railway has given people over the 9 decades it has been running. It has a most interesting and distinguished history, even used in war service: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romney,_Hythe_and_Dymchurch_Railway
Look at this convoy with the bug leading the way
Look at that it’s a race between these trains at the beginning of the clip
Absolutely superb video, with some magnificent camera work.
What's the wheel arrangement for 'Shelagh of Eskdale'?
Thank you very much!
4-6-4
Tremendous video I enjoyed it
Thanks very much
No prob
Very nice video :)
Lovely video and a lovely railway, track is a little bit bumpy though!
Wunderschön
I missed it sadly
13:35 hey look, it's me. Great vid
Remember this railway from family holidays in the 60s,still going strong if a little wobbly! (me and the railway).
I think they could do with a major reballasting programme over the winter, though that'd be a very big job with a line that length of course.
4:55 13:18 D'ya think the reason they named it " the bug " because it scuttles along the track!!!
Hi I was the boy at New Romney Who you asked me if I was paning round for the non Stop :)
Hi there! Thanks very much once again, for letting me crouch down in front of you, it really is appreciated. I hope you had a good day.
I'll upload my one soon of non stopper
bloody hell that was some tooting and a half in the first clip
If these wonderful locomotives are going to continue to run, something is going to have to be done to straighten out the rails.
1:28 a rear whistle? xD
0:39 steam in your face 😥
Nothing wrong with a steam covering ;)
And the whistle almost smoked out your camera
MA QUESTO QUI CHE E' IL TRENINO DI HARRY POTTER?????????
