@@okikuthepuppetdog3200 No, she's not, but it looks similar, as if it aluded to that. Still, the portrait was found in the Pirates of the Caribbean show and might have been part of the efforts to connect Jean Laffaite with the mansion, thus making her the sweatheart and mistress of the mansion.

I wonder what they’ll do with the portrait during the Haunted Mansion Holiday/Nightmare Before Christmas overlay???

I imagine April December is not necessarily *the* bride but a bride. Perhaps her fiancé was a soldier who died in the Civil War and she didn't know, or she refused to accept he wasn't coming back. As time marched on, she grew bitter and shut herself away. Similar to Melanie Ravenswood, a lonely soul eternally waiting for a wedding that will never take place.

I’m writing a fanfic anthology about April/December’s story in the style of Dorian Gray.

I honestly wish they had a similar story for Master Gracey. The most prominent ones I hear of him is the pirate one and madame leota one. But those stories don’t make any sense because in his portrait it shows him becoming old and emaciated, like April-December’s, eventually turning into a husk of a corpse.
So he clearly lives, and well, dies into his old ages, so there’s no way he could’ve died from hanging himself like most stories say. I know they’re only fanfiction and rarely have some truth in them, but I’m surprised no one has seen this common error in logic regarding Master Gracey’s story.
Especially so since Master Gracey’s portrait is based off of the romantic gothic novel, “The Picture of Dorian Gray”, which shares a lot of similarity with April-December’s story. In it, a Victorian man by the name of Dorian Gray becomes so enraptured by his youth and beauty, the essence of wanting to capture the moment while it lasts if you will, he sells his soul to the devil to become immortal, thus achieving everlasting, (you guessed it), youth and beauty.
Dorian Gray, wanting to, as stated earlier, capture this moment of eternal beauty, has a portrait painted of him and hangs it proudly in his home for all to see. However, there’s a catch to this deal he made. With every sin he commits his portrait becomes more distorted and grotesque.
And since he’s now immortal, let’s just say he commits a lot. To a point where he is barely recognizable in it anymore. That’s about as far as I know about the Dorian Gray novel, so as such I may have gotten a few things mixed up, but that’s basically the gist of what Master Gracey’s portrait is based on.
It’s confirmed, even. You might have touched on this in past videos but I can’t say for sure. But it does make sense! Dorian Gray’s portrait slowly starts to turn distorted and grotesque, and so does Master Gracey’s! So I think there’s a similar story there with Master Gracey’s portrait like with April-December’s.
Again though, I’m surprised no one has made any fan fiction attributing the story of Dorian Gray to Master Gracey upon learning this fact. Cause I think it makes a whole lot more sense and gives the character more personality without having to heavily rely on fans to do so.
If this is the case, then it’s safe to say these Master Gracey must’ve been a very wealthy, but incredibly vain man to have a portrait painted of him to encapture the everlasting beauty of his immortality as a result of his deal with the devil. In some stories it even says that Gracey was obsessed with the occult so it would make sense for him to desire immortality.
That’s one of the reasons why he has Madame Leota working and living under the same roof as him. He is obsessed with ghosts, and the paranormal, and maybe even had Madame Leota summon the devil in one of her seances so he can strike a deal with him. But that’s just me and view! What do you think?

Dorian Grey was officially the inspiration imagineers had for the Dorian Gray portrait, and even the April December one. Yet, officially, it was just a gag, not a story. Fan fictions have not connected him to the Dorian Gray character because Master Gracey (or Edward for some) was more tragic, insecure and jealous, hence the fact in one of the fan fictions he is the one that kills the beating heart bride in a jealous rage, only to notice she was purchasing some last minute hat for him, and so he kills himself. Dorian would have not killed himself for such a thing, he had another personality, and so that is why I think he has not linked in fan fictions to the Dorian character, though it would make an interesting story and it could be cohesive with the fact that the New York mansion (Liberty Square) existed years before the New Orleans one since Leota arrived at the first at the beginning of the XVIII century. Others have not connected it to him, because they associate him with Captain Gore. I would really like to read your story, it sounds interesting.

In my headcannon, after years of mysterious murders, Master Gracey and Leota were the only 2 left in the mansion. Both were about middle aged, but the tragic death of the Madame's daughter, little Leota, the product of a one night stand with the master, had taken its toll on them. Gracey became snappish and cruel, turning all the servants away, while Leota spent her days in a constant trance. Eventually, Leota and Gracey got into a huge fight, prompting Leota to summon all of her powers to cast her greatest spell. Time stood still. A great glowing ball, which would cause Gracey to suffer the death of his worst nightmares if it touched him, chased him through the warped mansion. The spirits of everyone who had died on the property rose from their graves and ordered to kill Gracey, though many thought a little party with their friends first wouldn't hurt.Eventually, Gracey collapsed in the foyer. Exhausted and terrified, he begged and pleaded with the spirits to take him away. He didn't care if he died, just as long as he didn't die due to Leota's curse. The ghosts who now reside in the stretching room portraits took pity on him and flew through his body over and over, rapidly aging him into a withered skeleton. (In my HM stories, a common fact about ghosts is that if one flies through you, it shocks your body so much that you lose a year of your life.) Master Gracey said his last word, "farewell", closed his eyes, and passed peacefully. His spirit eventually found its way into his painting. Leota however, was not so lucky. With no other living thing to hit, her spell struck her, causing her to suffer her worst nightmare: exploding into a million pieces. With no one alive to undo her charms, all of the spirits are still around today. Time is still frozen, but almost all of the happy haunts don't care. They love their eternal party and continue to look for one more to join in the fun. ☺

If you die of old age, then, as a ghost, you can appear as any age you want.
