A Cyanotype Formula from Scratch

- The Cyanotype process is a non-silver printing process that uses a mixture of two iron compounds, (Ferric Ammonium Citrate,(GREEN) and Potassium Ferricyanide).
If you do decide to make your own formula from scratch, be sure that you buy the Ferric Ammoniums Citrate that it is the "Ferric Ammonium Citrate GREEN". I am mentioning this is because there is a Ferric Ammonium Citrate "BROWN". This is the one you do not want to get as it will not work out well with the Cyanotype process.
Potassium Ferricyanide Stock Solution:
10g of Potassium Ferricyanide
100ml of distilled or tap water

Ferric Ammonium Citrate Stock Solution :

it is a great tuturial. thanks
You're welcome!
Thanks! I've been looking for a video on mixing them from scratch instead of purchasing the kits.
Awesome!
Dang, i was hoping you were going to synthesize it yourself, from the title, i really want some ferric ammonium citrate
Hi! Sorry if it was misleading!😄
Nice job, Nicole! Wish there had been such a video when i first started. Aloha
WOW!! Fun stuff, great learning video!!
Thank you
Thank you so much!
Hi Godiva. You are so welcome!
Thank you ❤
You are so welcome!
Thanks for the great video! So helpful! I was wondering if you need to create and store these solutions in a room without sunlight. I know that when these two solutions are mixed together and applied to a surface it must be done in a UV free room, just curious about beforehand.
Hi Olivia. Yes, make sure the bottles are stored away from sunlight and when applying the solution just make sure you are in a place where no direct sunlight is in the area you plan to work in. The further away you can work from light from any windows, that are draped of course, the better.
Thank you for getting back to me on this! I'm very thankful for your knowledge. :)@@NicoleSmallOneonOne
Could you please let me know the CAS No of ferric ammonium citrate? the CAS Number written on the bottle?
what happens if i use the brown one ? bought that accidentally :(
Hi Vinati. Do not worry, you can still use the brown! It is preferable to use the green as it is more light sensitive and will produce a longer tonal scale than that of the brown Ferric Ammonium Citrate.

Some tips that can help you with using the brown Ferric Ammonium Citrate:

Let me know how it goes for you!
But like where can I get those chemicals?
Great soundtrack, what is it?

my ferric ammonium citrate is brownish; it is not green. is it possible to use it?
HI! Yes, it is possible to use but the green is preferable. The brown is not as light sensitive as the green.
hey I should thank you for all information you gave in your channel. by watching your videos I made it possible. starting from scrach till the acceptable result. at the end I could not find green one, but the result was great. Thank you@@NicoleSmallOneonOne
