    Great video with honest opinions! Personally I’ve been playing the print and play decks with my kids and having a blast. Would recommend trying it out. The gameplay is great and artwork and lore they are starting to release is awesome in my opinion. Looks like a lot of people have put a lot of hard work into it. I can see it going a few years at least. Whether it grows or dwindles after that is anyone’s guess at this point.

    I know im going to get a lot of pitch forks towards me from the Anti-AI individuals. But i have had the chance to play the demo decks, and no lie, i have had a lot of fun playing the game. I do enjoy the 7 lane mechanics and the ability to zoom out and focus on whatever lane i want to win the game. The cards themselves have some sweet moves that can disrupt someones plan of attack. The other day, I had a friend playing a full set of dragons that grew with more rounds. By the later rounds, he had overwhelmed me with dragons that i could compete with. I ended up pulling an end of bloodline and killing off all of his dragons. This flipped the game around to me, and my friend realized that he should not have focused too much on the dragons.

      This is really interesting! I haven’t played myself. I was a bit turned off by the marketing but it’s nice to hear that the game play is solid on it.

    Hey Matt... You should check out Sorcery: Contested Realm. It's a great game and really nails the early TCG nostalgia factor.

    What do you mean by ai art? There are artist names on each card

    • @boardmatt
      @boardmatt  Před 7 dny

      I’m not an expert in this stuff, but I believe a lot of the art was AI generated and then cleaned up and edited by a person. I think there’s a lot of debate on if the person that edits that is the artist or who really created that image. It’s a bit of a gray area.

    It isn't a Magic clone. Some people say they like the game. From what I see, it is different, but the play seems very simplistic.
    It is AI art, totally. I think AI art is fine if it is done right. I think these guys are just using "any old" AI art generation which to me is a crime. People on the team who aren't even artists are credited with creating the AI art which tells what is going on there. I wouldn't mind or even notice it if it were done very well.
    I really have an issue with the management seeming like a train wreck. Also, they are hyper focused on making this a collectable over being a game, which is a huge red flag for me.

    Been seeing a tonne of ads about this on FB lately. I'm extremely skeptical this will have any real longevity. Not a fan of the NFT connection, and the AI art suggests they are extremely undercapitalized (no money to pay artists!) and they're walking into a copyright minefield. And proudly touting no reprints?! The game won't survive if you're purely relying on collectors. The only way I can see that working is if they do allow reprints, but with different artwork. Passing on this no matter how good the gameplay may be!

      Yeah… I’ve been swamped with targeted advertisements which usually isn’t a good sign for something that’s supposed to be grassroots.
      I’m also passing on this one. Too many red flags and I don’t need to donate $300 to a Kickstarter on the off chance it works out. Also, I have way too many actual good games to tinker with now. The market is quite saturated.

      The thing that won me over with this game is that the gameplay is really fun. That alone can bring people in and make the game survive the test of time.

    Looks like some NFT shennigans. The 'creative team' may or may not be a bunch of AI creations. Otherwise, I was mildly interested in this.

    Hey guys thanks for the video! I ummm can't get behind this one myself, AI art and a mtg clone. Sorry, can't do it. Still, thanks for the effort and the video. BoardMatt strong!

    It’s got Ai art. Means this team wasn’t willing to pay for actual art. Which means they can’t possibly believe in this long term. It will last a year and then fizzle now they have their money. No way have they got 20 or 30 people on their team for this.

    • @boardmatt
      @boardmatt  Před 2 měsíci

      I tend to agree. I think there’s going to be lots of sloppiness and with the huge appeal to collectors, you’ve gotta ask: why would collectors want cards that aren’t even human art?

    • @Chris3s
      @Chris3s Před měsícem

      Paying real artists is not the only reason to go with AI art. Sure, it is better for artists to get paid for comissioned art, but logically it makes sense for them to keep a cohesion in style or even change it based on what they want and save on costs making it.
      Will it last in the long run? No one knows, it all depends on how it is marketed, how available it is, how approachable/accessible it is and other factors. If you want to invest into it, then you have always some kind of risk with KS.
      I never care about investing, so I will just wait and see how it goes, and if the gameplay is incredible then I might give it a shot.
