I just think it's hilarious that Conan mentioned Cats and Taylor later was actually in that movie.

Swiftie here and I have to agree with adam, most musicals make me cringe and are so boring. even in movies, I have to skip most songs, that's why movies like Moana and coco are some of my favs, their songs didn't feel like homework.
I've got a personal rule.

That guy who "boo-ed" was probably a male with toxic masculinity who instinctively boos the second he hears "Taylor Swift" but she's just pointing out a fact. Even Adam Levine agrees. He's not the type to appreciate musical theatre and that's OK. His preference is only a "weakness" because he is a judge. His job is discerning performers who are good and bad, not which genre is good or bad.

I love musicals but I can kind of understand what he means. I don't really like the way too cheery musicals, it's true that it feels too enthusiastic and unearned. But some of the darker musicals really capture the drama of their stories mixed with the flamboyance of musical theatre really well (some of my favorite examples of this are Heathers, Dear Evan Hansen, and Hamilton).
It's understandable. Some shows like Rent I couldn't deal with but I love other kinds like Fiddler on the roof, Phantom of the Opera.
On the other hand, while I like Adam, I am over Marroon 5 as well.
regarding musicals, this guys opinions are my spirit animal.
